Based on the image what was your expectation here? The ground slopes up and the flat part is another yard. Reversing the gate doesn't really work either, although it is more for aesthetic reasons. They won't re-grade your yard for free, though maybe they could have pointed it out to you.

Worst case just shave off a little from the bottom right off the gate,  as right now it follows the slope.

Initially the person who came out to bid the job told me it would open downhill.  There is a little overlap onto the neighbors side but it's minimal.  Otherwise likely I'd expect them to shave off the right side in the bottom a bit vs following the grade.  And not sure why they angled the hinges.

They angled them for estetics, would look weird othervise. What you expect and what was written in the bid are two different things.

I saw that and wanted to ask them about it. It's central TX so pretty dry. But we still get plenty of rain. Just mainly in bursts.

Wood expands and contracts quite a bit across the grain. That fence is sadly not going to last long..

The neighbor’s fence seems to have even tighter gaps and at least 6 months of weathering on the wood, so I’d say you’re exaggerating a bit.

Since there is something Slope thisnis better for the gate in the long run. Gate always sag a bit. Once it starts if it is resting on a decline it will sag faster.

Being able to rest it on the ground so long as you dont apply pressure should actually prolong its life.
