An update on Steam / GOG changes for OpenTTD
openttd.orgTransport Related Gamescom Merch drop
Hey Folks Look what I got at Gamescom this year 😍
Was so cool talking to that employee about the good old days before the Atari deal and all that crazy cool hours I still have in Chris Sawyers games these days
Actually missed the new Rollercoaster Tycoon Demo but seen it in the warmup show
Did anyone know if the OpenTTD devs go to some other conventions like FOSDEM or similar?

I haven’t seen many examples of firs maps posted here. This is my first attempt at one, and I only use trains and buses in cities.

Screenshot / video Followup post
Due to my mainline extension to connect more cities to the network, I had to upgrade my mainline in highly busy areas to a prototypical 4 track layout and I have to say it works quite nicely.
(Inner tracks are high priority while outer tracks are lower priority. Crossovers are installed before the beginning of each junction)

I only play with free money to build huge networks...
...and just look at the trains go.
Am I the only one? I can't be, right?
I like to start on 1950, take 10 or 20 years to build a train network connecting the biggest cities across the map, make transfer station so I don't have slow trains going across the map, use trams in the cities to connect them to the stations since they are not always in the city center.
I always make two double tracks across the main directives+ double tracks to the other areas.
By the 80s the cities are gown enough to require the fast electric trains to start to turn the network into feeders/local services and intercity/regional/main services and I adjust the network accordingly, usually small adjustments since the 4 tracks can take an enormous amount of trains.
I play with symmetric passengers.
Anyone playing similarly? Suggestions and improvements?
I just like to look at the train network deliver passengers with hundreds and hundreds of busy trains.

Screenshot / video Why is my train not entering the station?
Train #27 keeps getting stuck at the entrance to this station. There are no other trains at the station, and if I give it an order to ignore signals it goes in and the rest of the route goes as intended. The other train I have going to this station can go in and out no problem, but this one refuses to enter by itself. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it?

This is Intercity Express Line F. You can see a geographical map of this route on the minimap in this post. Note the train overtaking the stopping services B and C at 03:20 and 04:45, respectively.

What are your favorite scenarios and why?
Mine is Poland Scenario by pAter - mostly because how difficult (expensive) yet balanced it is. What are yours and why?

Screenshot / video Is it time to upgrade to a 4 track mainline?
I'm using the NARS newgrf which is why I'm starting in 1877.
Red is mainline, blue is a branch line to a station

Subways in OpenTTD
Hi everyone. I want to ask you something...
I’ve started playing with the OpenTTD source code, and I’m trying to figure out how to implement underground railways....
I’ve already realized why nobody really wants to program this 😄 ... but I don’t think it’s completely impossible.
Implementing this isn’t easy, and I’m not sure if I should invest my time...
What do you think?
EDIT: added what I already achieved... Subterrain-view + building rails + pathfinding...

FIRS5 Steeltown, Fund Industries?
Steeltown industries don't seem to expire, and industry outputs are only effected by inputs instead of excellent / poor / absent transport performance. I also found the setting that prevents the random spawning of new industries, but that same setting seems to lock me out of funding and placing (or prospecting) my own industries.
Is there any way to be able to fund my own industry while still locking out random spawning?

Discussion How do OpenLoco and Mashinky compare to OpenTTD?
I played a lot of Locomotion when I was a child, and now 20 years later, I found out about OpenLoco. Driven by nostalgia I played it again, but also found out about OpenTTD in online discussions, with the community praising far more than OpenLoco. I tried it too, and had fun, but missed the rail complexity of OpenLoco, while appreciating things like better signals, shared orders, and other QoL stuff simply not present in OpenLoco.
Then Mashinky came, and in my eyes this is the best of both worlds. While still in early access, meaning a lot of features are still missing and performance isn't the best because of (I assume) unoptimized 3D models, it hit all the buttons I was looking for in a Tycoon game. It had all the QoL of OpenTTD with just that extra detail and complexity of OpenLoco. The multiple token system really adds more strategy compared to a single currency approach, and I found myself building huge tracks and stations just to keep up with demand of various resources.
But the community for Mashinky is really REALLY small, so I was wondering if more people here have played it, or maybe even interest some of you to try it. And for those with more experience, what do you like and dislike about Mashinky, OpenLoco and OpenTTD? How could they improve?

Discussion Playing with or without AI?
Hi! How do you guys like to play? With or without ai and why? And if so, which ai?
Myself as a starter like to play without because I’m not familiar with all the systems.
Looking forward to hear your take on this!
