I now officially have 96 titles

So while I was playing Godzilla save the earth on XBOX the audio was fine and all but when i grabbed an opponent and the camera was turned to a slight overhead over the monsters, I Noticed the audio is slightly lower. this happened to me when I used Electron's Xbox2HDMI adapter. any idea how to fix that?

Hey everyone, I've got an original Xbox console (version 1.6) that I modded with Modxo/PrometheOS loaded on a Rasberry Pi Pico, and it's giving me a headache. Hoping someone can give me some insight.

Problem:

-Console has a 60% change to freeze during the "flubber" bootup animation. If I change the boot animation to a pre-recorded video instead, works fine every time.

-Console will sporadically freeze while playing StarWars: Knights of the old Republic. Generally happens during dialogue, but will also happen while running around the world. Never in the menus. Happens in other games too, but this is the best example.

-Console will freeze in the PrometheOS menus, specifically and only if I am transferring large amounts of data to/from the HDD.

Repair attempts:

-Replaced every capacitor on the motherboard (other than the few tiny surface mount ones), CPU caps are the recommended low ESR caps. Removed non-low ESR caps installed by mistake to no affect.

-4 Different Hard Drives (2 SATA with an adapter, and 2 original, placing these setups in another xbox worked perfectly fine)

-2 Different IDE Cables (again, both worked in other xbox)

-Re-soldered all solder joints relating to the mod on both the pico and the mother board

-Re-soldered LPC Rebuild multiple times

-Re-soldered IDE and Sata headers on both adapter board and mother board

-2 Different PSUs (Admittedly, I don't have another xbox to test these in, but it seems unlikely that they'd both be broken in the same way.

-Shortened the wires to the mod board (They are about 4 inches long now, did not change anything, and I've also done this the same way on 2 other xbox, so I really don't think this is it.)

-Shoved a piece of foam behind the adapter board to prevent the lid from dislodging the adapter board from the HDD (This did make a pretty big difference in how frequently the game crashes, but not the boot animation, and the problem persists even when the lid is off.)

I have also used Xbdiag to stress-test the GPU, CPU, and RAM, all passed with no issues after 30 minutes each.

I think that this all points to there being some fault in how the motherboard is communicating with the HDD, but I just don't have any more ideas on where that fault could be.

Last console I bought on eBay took a dump on me, so i had to return it and ended up going with a Verified “eBay Refurbished” seller, and got this beauty. Came in super clean, and operating as if it was new. It’s a 2005 model (so 1.6 maybe?) so I’m excited about that. The nostalgia is just hitting hard today, so I figured I’d share. 🤙

Hard to explain other than showing it, sticks are behaving very weird

for some context : I've just dusted off my old OG Xbox, it played fine before I set it back in the closet, but not it seems to shut off completely at random only in games, could it be overheating? failing capacitors? it turns right back on after it shuts off, please help!

Hello, everyone. I have a philips drive that will take forever (like up to 10 mins) to read some discs and only plays halo ce i have found out. I have cleaned the laser, nothing still. I adjust the potentiometer only from .70 to .80 cus i was scared that i would fried the laser. what other options are there that arent just replacing the drive and/or getting new caps? I have never soldered in my life so if replacing caps is the only way, how easy of a first time job is it? thanks!

edit: i also forgot to remember i tried another drive i had a from a different xbox. I dont remember if that one was operating fine but that one also took forever/ didnt even load.

Dr. Muto is a very fun 3D platformer developed by Midway. I'm really enjoying it and highly recommend it for fans of Oddworld, Tak, or Scaler. Gives me some Ratchet and Clank vibes, too.

Ello! After so long time I wanted to play some things on my console but everytime I try to access the original xbox dashboard, the console restarts. I know it's a problem with the dashboard files since I accidentally deleted one of them when I got the console....yeah

I use UnleashX so it has not really affected how I play games, but if there's any way to reinstall the file since I'm a newbie at modding and FTP connections, it would help a lot

I recently soft modded my og xbox and I had problems, the exit button combos in nk patcher settings takes me back there i asked Gemini​ and it said to switch to NTSC I had a HDMI adapter so I thought it could work but then no signal, I tried to turn off my console and hold the back button still no signal, I'm stuck without signal I can't even navigate pls anyone help

Took a shot on eBay and bought a dead motherboard for $14 bought controller ports, and a psu. Then got to work. The dead boar was just trace rot. Got it running. Another console saved. Keeping this one in my personal collection. Under the hood she has

2tb ssd
Modxo flashed with prometheos and cerbios
128mb ram upgrade
Quiet noctua fan
New caps
New thermal paste
And some actual trace repair not just jumper wires.

I heard mostly about the EEPROM corruption/Caps dying and clock battery.

I will 100% remove the clock battery and backup the EEPROM, do i need to to know something else and also any tip to make it last as LONG AS POSSIBLE
