Chopped this auto today in zone 6. My other plants are just barely budding. After chopping and going to wash with water/peroxide, I noticed the absolute infestation of these little bugs. Is this salvageable? Also, what should i be doing to protect my 11 other plants that were all around this one? I haven’t noticed anything on those plants yet.
I just capture a few and stick them on the plant. They'll hang around if there's aphids or mites to eat. They don't work to well indoors though, they'll fly into the light and eventually kill themselves.
The picture shows a seed. I supposed theres a chance thats the only one but thats usually not the case when one is ripe and ready to drop as shown in the picture
Ants love the honeydew. Will actively farm aphids to obtain it. Causing them to eat all over your plants too. The honeydew also turns into black sooty mold.
Can I ask what strain that is? The bud structure looks very interesting. Nice grow other than the bugs. Not much you can do this late in flower. I don’t spray the plants during flower but I will spray the ground around them on a day it isn’t too windy.
I thought it looked a lot like this Early Frost by 2020 Mendocino. Usually the advertised time is when it finishes by. A 60 day veg would be long for an auto, usually only lasts a few weeks
Looks like some auto with bad genetics since theres a lot of similarity to Ruderalis plant like the three finger leaves. Sure looks interesting but with autos thats the last thing you want to see.
This worked great. I did the bud wash in water with peroxide and agitated it well. Then, took it out and used the hose on shower really good. Then skimmed them all off the top of the bucket and hit it one more time in the peroxide water and then swung it until dry.
The one time this happened to me, I vacuumed them off.
But they came back and then the lady bugs descended and wiped them out. You can buy little containers of ladybugs at Ace hardware if you have one around you. They're in the garden center. They keep them in a little refrigerator with the nematodes.
Just familiarize yourself with what their babies look like. They're the ones that'll do most of the work.
Thanks! I like the idea of predatory insects the most as I try to minimize chemicals and sprays on my plants. When I mow my field I always relocate all of the praying mantis’ I find into my weed garden to help with this. They must’ve missed these ones as they were low against the soil
I think aphids are too little for praying mantises. I say this because I have one that is constantly going after my butterflies.
And that's a good stance to take because throughout all this you're going to have a lot of people recommending that you spray shit onto your plants. I don't think it's ever a good idea. Even bt. Because that's a liquid substance.
Besides the normal answers for washing and using Zymes, Lost Coast, PureCrop, etc, I would also reccomend treating for ants around your grow area. Nematodes SC and SF are great for treatment for ants as well as other bad bugs
That’s a good idea. This is my 3rd season growing and I’ve never had any issues with them before so I wasn’t really prepared. Mainly I have to deal with grasshoppers
We’ve tried them all. They all work. Safer brand insecticidal soap, Dr Zymes, Lost coast plant therapy, green cleaner, Pyganic, azamax. Lately I’ve been using my Homemade Jadam sulfur + Jadam soap mix it’s the shizz
My other plants aren’t very far along. I should’ve marked down when they started to show signs of flower. I will post them tonight to see if you think it’s still safe to treat
I chopped it and noticed it because I was going to bud wash it. When I flipped it upside down to dunk it into the wash bucket is when I noticed all the aphids on the bottom section of the plant I couldn’t see while in the pot
