Entertainment / Event I want just one 'AI banned' fair

What happened to the arts and crafts fairs? They should just change their name to AI fairs.

All the posters for the event are AI, same for most of the stalls, and even the stuff they sell is AI. H, The food carts even have their carts/vans and posters done in AI.

The truly creative people are drowning in this slop.

I want just one AI banned fair.

"Get with the times."

If something is free, that means YOU'RE the product. AI is only free now to get you hooked and reliant on it. What's going to happen when you have to pay for it?

"You use AI."

I'm talking specifically about generative AI here, not spell check.

"I don't have the money to hire a designer."

You don't have to! You're at an Arts and Crafts fair, you can hand draw it, you can make it, you can use Canva, or you can learn a new skill and grow.

"People can't tell when you use it right."

We can all tell. Hence the complaint.

For those that still feel strongly to use AI I can't stop you. My simple request is that I want just one fair where AI is banned.

Question Public transport from Palmerston North city centre to tawa loop track??!

Gday good palmy north folks. I’ve found myself quite unprepared for my stay here in terms of being ignorant to advice of renting a car. Long story short I’m budget travelling and unfortunately find myself face to face with a $50 uber each way from city centre to tawa loop and back. This debacle currently means that I won’t be able to walk the track I came to palmy for. I unfortunately don’t have the time to walk 9hrs out there each way either. Google isn’t showing me public transport options so I am relying on you now, my dear advisors and hopefully public transport enthusiasts. Is there a bus that goes out there from the city? Or are there any other options that work for a stingy ass traveller? I have much appreciation to anyone that can educate or entertain me. You’re a funny bunch I’ll give ya that - back home I was mainly warned about the way you show uhhhhhh lovin to your precious sheep and I’ve been so pleasantly surprised to find only beauty and laughs in all corners of aotearoa and inhabitants. I’ll tell you now I will be defending your sheeply habits when I return to my homeland.

sincerely and with love - A Blow In From Across The Pond

Question Barking dog driving us all mad

Hey all. Our neighbors have a dog they leave outside all day every day. It is so reactive it barks incessantly if anyone is in my backyard, or a noise is made around it, or basically at almost anything at all. It is driving my family mad.

I’ve approached the city council twice. They’ve said they’ll send me a barking diary but then have never done it. In the meantime I have a daughter and a mother in law who’re afraid of dogs who won’t spend more than the minimum time in our backyard. This has been going on since late last year. My whole family basically avoids the backyard at this point.

The dog is obviously being neglected, it’s not right to leave the poor thing out for 8-10 hours a day. Is there anything else I can do?

Question NZIFF 2026

Assume it was too expensive or not cost effective for the local film society or one of the cinemas to run the NZ International Film Festival this year? The closest options are New Plymouth, Wellington or Masterton. Will have to wait and see if the films stream at a later date or can be rented on AroVision. Anyone know why it didn't run in PN this year or does it not run in the provincial cities every year and I just didn't realise?

Anyone got an old/vintage Turbos jersey they’d sell? I’m from palmy but live in BOP now, I’d love to get one for the game in Tauranga next weekend. Cheers 🍻

Other Fuel Thieves targeting vehicles at homes.

As title, neighbours in Hoko got hit last night, drilled holes in the bottom of their fuel tanks and drained them.

My car didn't get targeted, likely difference being visibility. I have a wide, open driveway, theirs is sheltered.

Keep an eye out for each other, and if possible, try to make sure where you park has clear visibility to deter thieves.

Question Parking at PNH

Friends, Countrymen and my fellow Healthcare workers.
Starting out new at the hospital on Monday - both the Medical Unit and Wilson parking have said there are no more parking spaces or passes left with almost 100 personnel on a waitlist.

Where How and at what time do y’all manage with street parking - cause at this point it’s a super power.

Drop your tips, tricks and pearls of wisdom please

Sorry about the pay walled article, but please come see this incredible show tomorrow night at the Globe (along with two other hilarious shows from Callum Wagstaff and Shady Tupu) as we finish up our Palmy Winter Comedy Fest.

Last weekend we had some great turnouts, and we'd love to end with a bang!

Question Masters of Analytics from Massey University, Need suggestion

I have received an offer to pursue a Master in Business Analytics at Massey University. With 19 years of experience in pension and reconciliation management, I would like to inquire whether this course will enhance my job prospects in New Zealand. Additionally, I am interested in understanding the quality of the program at Massey University. Are students facing difficulties in passing their exams? I would appreciate insights from current students and welcome opinions from others as well.
