rose bowl aquatic center LiveScan SCAM (BEWARE potential new hires)!!!

Upvotes

Just wanted to send out a fair warning to anyone looking to work at RBAC.

It seems to be a common pattern in which they bring on new employees and have them get a Live Scan Fingerprinting, which can cost upwards of $100 (about $90 for me), and then they say they will compensate you IF you work for them more than 90 days. So what they will do is hire a bunch of swimming coaches, have them work there for less than 90 days, then come up with a fake excuse to let them go before the 90 days.

Be careful!!

I have met quite a few people who experienced this, to the point where it seems as though it is enough of a pattern to raise eyebrows. It would not be a surprise, seeing as they are consistently facing accusations of misconduct, whether it be child SA or racism...

Please take this into consideration before working here!!!

Classic Car Show?

Anyone know of any classic car shows coming up? I have an 11yo girl that really likes old cars and I’ve not been to one in 20+ years. Just looking for things to do.

couples hobbies?

Hi everyone, my husband and I really enjoy our free time, but I am wondering if we are not tapping into other potential hobbies, classes or activities events around Pasadena. I do keep up with the free concerts, which have been very nice to enjoy, we check out restaurants, go to bars (shows included), walk our dog around different neighborhoods. But now I’m looking to be more active (not hiking 😆) or some type of activity we can both learn and do together that doesn’t involve eating or drinking (we get plenty lol). I was trying to sign up for the archery classes, but those always get booked up fast.. any ideas? 💡 we are in our late 30s no children 😁

When the LAX people mover opens, how will that affect your commute to/from Pasadena?

Projected durations between LAX and Pasadena seem like they'll be around 70-100 minutes.

- one option will be the A to the E to the K to LAX metro center (80-85 mins)

- another option will be the A to Union Station to the FlyAway bus to LAX metro center (70-100 mins depending on traffic)

- the slowest option will be the A to the C to LAX metro center (90-100 mins)

Cost savings will potentially be huge, though. My last Uber ride to LAX cost me over $100.

Shrinking Filming

Anyone have any inside scoop on when Shrinking will be filming in Pasadena? I saw Pasadena's film calendar and don't see any details yet, but read that sometimes the info isn't posted until a few days before.

PCC LOST: Family Member's Ashes

I lost my retractable clip today somewhere on PCC campus. I have already checked Lost and Found and submitted a ticket.

It is a black castle clip with a rainbow charm, purple dice and two hearts. The rest of it doesn't matter, but the white heart pendant has a loved one's ashes in it.

I have lost keys previously on campus and they were never turned in.

Please help me find. 🙏🏻

Found a Chameleon in Pasadena

Post image
173 Upvotes

My friend’s dad found a veiled chameleon while working in Pasadena. Obviously someone’s pet either got out or they released it. I am posting to see if there are any experts we could rehome to. I would and want to keep it for myself as I already have many reptiles but I have no experience with chameleons and would like him to have a better chance for survival. Any help?

Laundrobars?

Our washing machine died and the new one isn't arriving until next week. When we lived in Seattle there was a "Suds n Suds" business where you could go and have beers while your laundry spun around. Is there anything like that anywhere in the SGV? Just hoping to make a tedious chore a little fun. Thanks.

suggestions (of Pasadena-area restaurants that can hold 25-30 people) to have lunch after first communion

could I please ask your perspective of whether you recommend any restaurants that would hold about 25-30 of my family and friends for a lunch after a first communion?

If you have past experience with a certain place, that would be good to know!

I’ve thought of the following places, but I wonder if they’re too large (I will ask them); some of these are also a bit far from Pasadena.

Luminarias in Monterey Park
Castaway in Burbank
Odyssey in Granada Hills

Thank you!

Advanced (4.5+) pickleball

I just got a job in Pasadena and I’m curious if anyone knows some good spots/groups to play. I checked out allendale park but with only four courts the wait can be brutal and when going alone challenge can be a complete toss up. I also went to Ipickle Arcadia for their social but the player level was pretty light.

Tell me about all the places that have lines on the weekends

I rarely go anywhere in Old Pasadena on the weekend, but last time I was driving I noticed there were a few places that had some seriously long lines. Could you please me which places have them so I can check them out during the week! Also, are they actually worth the hype? Thanks!

Pasadena City Council grapples with chronic late starts, canceled committee meetings and a calendar complicated by Monday holidays.

https://pasadenanow.com/main/council-to-hold-last-monday-meeting-before-tuesday-trial-begins-in-september

Nine of the council’s 17 remaining Monday dates this year were already slated for holiday season cancellation. Sept. 7, which is Labor Day, and Sept. 21 are slated for cancellation outright, leaving no Monday council meeting next month.

Jason Lyon said the late starts often stem from conversations with legal counsel running long, not necessarily from absent councilmembers.

ISO good headlight polishing services in the Pas/SGV area

I have an older car that needs to get its yellowing headlights polished. I tried a do it yourself kit but the results were bad and the yellow is back after a few months. Looking for a detail or car place that doesn’t charge a lot to perform this service. Please give me your best recommendations, thanks.

And yes, I looked at Yelp and other sites, but the services provided seemed to be very expensive. I’m just looking for a place that will do my headlights and that’s it.
