It only works on board with full-sized *right shift keys, though.
I use a 75% layout...which means it's basically a plastic toy that stays in the box for whomever I sell this card to...
j/k this is the last video card I'll be able to buy.

Can't answer about OP or cars, but outdoor/indoors electrical locks usually have a battery contact available so you can use something like a 9v battery on an "emergency". At least my locks (and others I saw for sale) do, as I had the same question before installing.

And in more industrial scenarios (non residential basically) they will have multiple batteries attached for backup and power supply in the case of an outage

Depends on the industry. In mine we work with sensitive data so having a biometric, or some way to log who went into where is important if anything goes wrong.

If the car battery dies, it's not moving anyways. Car key fobs have keys inside them just in case
If the house keypad dies, can always open the garage with the opener or with phone
I don't have a bunker so no workaround there from me lol

Seriously though, I would not trust electronic device as the only lock to my house, they can often be bypassed using everyday tools like a screwdriver, a piece of wire, a paperclip, a magnet, etc.
