Discussion; why are you drawn to pen and ink?

For this post, no artwork from me for right now. I’m not confident enough to post my pen and ink drawings. Maybe one day.

I just wanted to have a discussion between other pen and ink lovers.

Why are you drawn to the medium? Why do you like it?

For me, I love comic book/manga art. It’s just satisfying to look at all the line variation and technique that are used in illustrations. And I love the contrast between black and white, it just does something for me. I’ve also always admired using pens before I began to draw with them. I would always write and take notes with a pen in school. Cross hatching is also a beautiful technique that I’ve always loved.

Inking is just cool as fuck to me. I’ve always loved pens, so just exploring all the different types of pens is never ending fun.

It’s amazing seeing all the creative ways the masters and people on this subreddit use to make art with ink.

Also, what tools does everyone use?

Took a big sheet of paper with the idea to leave negative space (to show the loneliness of the last leaf remaining). Now it just looks empty and incomplete.

What do you guys think ? Is it okay or any suggestions to make it redeemable.

In the AdP fandom there's a trend of remixing famous album covers, and this is my contribution. I've been drawing for 3 years, and I've never drawn a landscape before. Any respectful feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

One of my favourite pages from VULTURE, written by @steveniles65

This is the introduction of the captain of the space ship.

It was really cool to come up with the design of this character, his eye was particularly fun to draw! Swipe to see the original art.

The characters were drawn using a Blue Pumpkin Nib and a Pentel Brush pen.

Hi Everyone,

I've been working on a 'backbone' for an illustrated Solarpunk story for a while and in that process have decided to put all my separate notes on paper into a worldbuilding reference. It's not complete yet, (I will probably have to expand on the last page, as this will be most useful for writing and drawing).

If you're interested please do have a look! Also feel free to share any criticism or comments you have below (please feel free to be direct but constructive in this, I'm looking to improve on my worldbuilding so that the story I set out to write, The Necrologist, feels like it's rested in a 'solid world'.

If you would like to stay up to date on the progress feel free to follow me here on Reddit or on Instagram (Instagram). Eventually I will upload the graphic novel to be read for free on Globalcomix or Webtoon and in that phase of publishing will ask for feedback on different platforms. But for now; let me know what you think!

One of my older pieces. This was actually my first stippling drawing on big paper! It took me around 50 hours to finish. What do you guys think of it? :)

An original piece and a companion to my previous drawing. A lot of time went into this one, but plenty learned along the way. I might add more black another time. But all in all, this was fun.
