Hey, all. Hope everyone is having a great summer.
It was an exciting season we just had under our new coach, Dan Muse. The playoff "drought" was broken. Hope for the future was reignited. And although it ended badly in round 1, we had a lot of fun along the way.
Seeing as our previous offseason and off-day threads got good traction, it's something I'd like to expand on and encourage the sub to use more of moving forward.
To that end, here are some key team links to help people out:

Our first game is on September 30th against the hated Flyers. Our first preseason game is on September 21st against Buffalo.
If prior seasons are any indication, training camp should open about 4 days before that. But that hasn't been announced yet.

Murashov wore this gold alternate jersey on November 22, 2025, against the Seattle Kraken at PPG Paints Arena. Making his fourth appearance of his rookie season, Murashov stopped 18 of 21 shots as Pittsburgh fell 3ā2 in overtime. He finished the game with an .857 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average

Malkin going on RR 1.0, still deciding who to have added to 2.0 but I'm leaning Letang.

Post kept getting removed since we're not allowed to share articles from DK Pittsburgh Sports, but they're the ones breaking the story. I reckon I'll post the source in the comments.

Iām visiting Pittsburgh for the first time to cross off a bucket list item of seeing the Penguins play at home and Iām having trouble picking where to sit. Planning on splurging more than Iād usually pay since itās a special trip. I have my eye on these seats, thoughts? I know a lot of people say higher rows of the lower bowls for the best overall view of the game, but Iāve never been able to sit so close to the glass before and Iām definitely tempted.
Club 102
Row F Seats 5-6
(Few rows behind Penguins bench)
Section 110
Row B Seats 9-10
(Second row on double attack side, closest to glass seats as possible)
Club 111
Row G Seats 9-10
(Slightly more towards double attack side and 7 rows up to get some more visibility but still close)
Club 112
Row C S17-18
(corner of penalty box)
Club 112
Row H Seats 11-12
(Center ice and 8 rows up to get some visibility but still close)t

Thought everyone would be interested to hear HCDM be interviewed. Weāre almost out of the doldrums of hockey.

With hockey season right around the corner, itās time for irrational posts. What is one deficiency from last year that you would want corrected? A weird stat? A playerās failings? General headscratchery?
Iāll start: protecting leads. Itās probably the most glaring issue from last year team. As well as they played and with where they finished up, they left so much out there. Nov/early Dec were brutal. Iād love for them to have that strong defensive play with the lead and close games out like nobodyās business. Maybe itās wishful thinking, but itās what I want to see improved upon.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has opened job applications for this yearās 50/50 sellers.
Does anyone have any experience doing this, and can you share what itās like-scheduling, pay rate, and any perks or challenges?
Seems like it could be a good way to make some extra money, but they donāt list the pay rate and just say it will be discussed at the interview.

had this shipped to my dad but completely forgot about it since there was never a notification on shipping. He has an office that my girlfriend calls "The Shrine" so I figured this stuff would go well there. he did a pretty good job sending me a photo of it all!

Iām one of the people that gets in line around 7 am specifically for a shot righty sticks. This yearās sale was horrendous especially with the $300 price tag on some of the bigger names. I could get a brand new Rust or Karlsson stick brand new for less after shipping from this website.
They have Brunicke, St. Ivany, Rust, Karlsson, Acciari, Dumba and some team stocks for the righties listed. I feel like the Penguins shouldāve kept at least some of these sticks for their own sale so people will continue to come back year after year.
This isnāt the first drop this summer either. I believe there was one back in June or July and I wouldnāt be surprised if other equipment (protective, skates, etc.) gets posted in the coming days.

A few weeks ago, I posted Part 1 of my series on whether last seasonās Pens were ACTUALLY good or just lucky.
For Part 2, I tried to divide the credit. Hereās my rough breakdown:
⢠Kyle Dubas: ~10 points
⢠Dan Muse: ~5 points
⢠Pure luck/variance: ~3 points
That might sound contradictory to Part 1, where I called a non-trivial portion of the turnaround luck. The difference is that Part 1 measured what the Penguinsā team-level process could predict (on paper). This time, I tried to identify the sources of those unexpected results.
Credit and repeatability arenāt the same thing. Dubas deserves credit for identifying an undervalued player like Anthony Mantha, even if nobody could have predicted the hottest finishing season of Manthaās career.
Museās strongest case is the penalty kill. His last three teams improved from 15th to 6th, 13th to 3rd, and 18th to 6th in the NHL in his first season.
Dubas gets the largest share because his additions scored roughly 20 goals above raw expected goals. About half was supported by their established finishing histories; the rest exceeded any reasonable projection.
Some of that was statistically lucky, but the Penguins were only in position to benefit because Dubas acquired those players and Muse put them on the ice.
How would you divide the credit?

I saw a few posts about individual boxes, felt like it might be fun to just have one thread. Share what you got! I had the Letang bobble head, Hawaiian shirt, pillow, ice tray, and Mantha auto puck. I got the Mantha signed photo during the charity bag sale earlier so now I have the set haha.
