My last neighborhood was the sort with diversity signs on almost every lawn, rainbow flags everywhere, COEXIST bumper stickers as far as the eye can see, tons of Priuses and hybrids...
Then you go on NextDoor and the most recent comment is "Those damn kids from the section 8 housing down the road are walking through the neighborhood again! Yall better lock your doors and close your garages!! I dont know why they cant stay in their own damn neighborhood!!!"

Too many for sure. But at the same time, it does no good to assume that's true of everyone who votes a certain way. I think most people don't pay attention to the consequences of their actions at the ballot box, and when you try to explain it to them, they don't want to hear it. I know a lot of people who grew up in a type of household, and it becomes their identity. To vote otherwise is to question who they are. They aren't hateful, just incredibly ignorant.

Ignorance after a certain point of having it pounded into your head is no longer ignorance one can use to excuse oneself. I'm all for educating others, but if you can't convince a Trump supporter in 2026 their Golden Emperor is anything less than immoral murdering trash, then they are effectively the same as the hateful death merchants that vote with them.

People are stubborn. Sometimes the more you try to force something, no matter how reasonable it is, a person might dig in their heels against it for who knows why. I've known addicts who were slowly killing themselves and couldn't face the reality that was so clear to everyone around them. I don't understand it.
I know people who are otherwise kind but still voted (R) because it's what they've always done. Some have multiple jobs and four kids and no time to check the news except for what I've tried to share with them. When I do, they get a deer in highlights look as if nothing I'm saying is being processed because I'm not the type of person to ever talk about "politics". Why would anyone want to talk about politics? Which should make it mean more, coming from me, but people are stubborn. Some have become so entrenched that to acknowledge they've made a mistake at this point, so far in, would be to admit they've supported a (insert however many dozens of adjectives here) man and his regime for at least 10 years.
*I'm tired of it all. But I know that the fastest way to lose someone's willingness to listen is to insult them. Even if they are acting like evil idiots, I'll keep trying.

You’d be fuckin surprised how easy it is to make a shock device lethal. 100 milliamps (0.1 Amps) through the heart will stop it from beating. These devices, called G.L.O.V.E. made by Compliant Technologies, have a max current of 0.7-1.5 Amps. These things will kill people.
The average taser gun outputs 1.2-2.1 milliamps, in comparison.

Batman usually comes to exist because of how ineffective the police are at solving problems that actually matter, that's the whole idea. I think it's worth pointing out that he was a rich white kid that would've only seen the police as his saviors when his parents were murdered, but Batman exists on a fundamental level because of the issues he has with police. I think people focus too much on the ways police "don't go far enough" because that's what the Christopher Nolan movies leaned in to.
Plus like... if super heroes aren't a little problematic, they're not very interesting. It's why Superman and Batman make such an interesting contrast, they're really the same person with the same moral compass, but a very different upbringing. At least, that's how I've sorta converged the Batman iterations I've seen over the years.
I think the problem is that movies like the Nolan films aren't meant to get that deep about the politics, you're supposed to have fun watching them on a surface level (although I do wonder if casting the American Psycho as Bruce Wayne was mildly intentional). The pieces of those movies are fantastic, but the actual interpretation of Batman is pretty bad IMO

Well, according to the companies own specs for these devices, the amperage these things put out is very much potentially lethal. 0.7-1.5 Amps. Grab somebody under the left armpit and the shock likely will stop their heart.

Operating in heavy rain, standing water, or around spilled conductive liquids can create an unintended electrical path, redirecting the 380-volt charge across the glove's surface to the user

Because the glove activates via a wrist switch and shocks anything its conductive pads touch, a user entangled in a close-quarters struggle could accidentally touch their own exposed skin (such as their neck, face, or opposite arm), subjecting themselves to the shock.

Are 'the flash'-style lighting bolts the same as Nazi SS bolts in any other context? This public art is a pointed and timely statement, no doubt, but as a possessor of a big ass lightning bolt tattoo, knowing there are bigger issues, I am still feeling pretty called out and uncomfortable with all this shit. Lynchings disguised as suicides. Mass arrests. Economic fluctuations. Now I feel like I have to avoid being identified with something I am not. Anyway. Fuck ICE! Fuck the new Jim Crow, which is what it seems like to me, most of all.

the only use i know of for 'the flash'-style lightning bolts, as you said, being dogwhistles is when they're used like: ⚡⚡ (to evoke SS).
that form is only effective because typically the lightning bolt emoji is a simple diagonal, horizontal, diagonal, like the SS bolt. if your tattoo is a single bolt, and/or multiple segments (as the yellow bolts in the graffiti are), you're fine.
