I’m hoping someone here can help me solve a very specific Pizza Hut mystery. I’m almost 40 years old, and when I was 13, I was placed in foster care. I remember being taken into a cold conference room, being told I wouldn’t be able to see my parents anymore, and that I would be living with a stranger. While they figured out where I was going, I was left there watching TV.
They let me choose anything I wanted from Pizza Hut to be delivered.
I ordered the BBQ Beef Brisket Pizza with stuffed crust, and I swear I can still remember exactly how it tasted. It was the best pizza I had ever had.
But more importantly, at a time when I was scared and completely overwhelmed, that pizza gave me a level of comfort that stuck with me for the next 30 years.
Fast forward to now. I’m almost 40, I have a wife and five kids, and I recently heard the BBQ Beef Brisket Pizza was back.
I was SO excited.
I told my wife about it because I wanted to share this weird little piece of my childhood with my family. So on August 2nd, I ordered one.
Except when I picked it up… it wasn’t brisket.
It was BBQ sauce with what appeared to be beef sausage balls.
I told the employee, “This isn’t the brisket pizza,” and he told me they didn’t have brisket and that was what they use for it. He refunded me, no problem.
I figured maybe that location just didn’t have the right ingredients.
So two days ago, I tried a completely different Pizza Hut.
Same thing.
This time I showed the employee a picture of the actual BBQ Beef Brisket Pizza. She had never even heard of it. She told me that the Pizza Huts in her district are instructed to make it with BBQ sauce and beef sausage instead of brisket.
Apparently this is happening around Hagerstown, MD, Waynesboro, PA and Frederick, MD.
So now I’m turning to Reddit.
Does anyone know of a Pizza Hut anywhere within driving distance of Hagerstown, Maryland that is actually making the BBQ Beef Brisket Pizza with REAL BEEF BRISKET?
I don’t care if I have to drive an hour or two. I just want to find the actual pizza before it disappears again.
And yes, I realize this is an absurdly emotional amount of attachment to a pizza. 😂 But food can preserve memories in a way almost nothing else can.
That pizza was one of the few comforting things I remember from a really difficult time in my childhood. Now that I have a family of my own, I’d really like to sit down with my wife and five kids and experience it again.
If you work at Pizza Hut, used to work there, or know a location that still has the actual brisket, PLEASE tell me where it is.
