Help Enabling IPv6?

My parents have Planet Networks service in Vernon, NJ. I recently installed a Unifi Dream Router 7 on their network (so I can remotely manage it). The router says IPv6 is available. I turned on DHCPv6 on the WAN side but nothing is happening. The router is seeing an IPv6 router advertisement (says it's a /64 but the prefix given looks like a /48). Do we need to contact Planet Networks to enable IPv6? Does Planet Networks use SLAAC or another method for IPv6? Is Planet Networks working towards IPv6 but not there yet?

Thank you for any help.

Help Incoming ports blocked?

For years I've been using a VPN on my home router to direct my iphone traffic through and access my home network while I'm traveling. It's been a while since I used it but when I tried to access it the other day, I got only timeouts. Additional testing has resulted in the same. Is there something about the PlanetNetworks configuration that blocks incoming traffic to my IP? I've read that CGNAT could be the cause of this issue. Thanks!

July 18, 2026 Storm Damage

7/18/2026 2:30PM - Jefferson Area Storm Damage

We are seeing lots of tree and wind damage to power from this second summer storm in July. We have many customers without power, but the only area at the moment without Internet service is the Jefferson area due to a burning transformer on a utility pole. If you aren't in the affected area of Jefferson and have power or a generator, your Planet Networks Internet should be operational. The cooling oil is leaking from the burning transformer and burning our fiber, cable, and telephone too. No ETR at the moment until JCP&L replaces the transformer and possibly the pole.

Help Question on pricing

Planet Network came to my area and I'm trying to understand the pricing because one thing will say "$49.99 for 1 gig" but then they'll list all these options from 250mps, 500mps, 1 gig, 2.5gig, 5 gig, but there are no prices on the website but individually google searching said speeds and price, bring up a whole different picture. What is the deal with all of this because I'm seeing $99.95 for 1 gig after googling and it leading to specific page that lists that price for that speed.

I basically don't want to get hustled where I get $49.99 for 1 gig for 1 month, and then magically the next bill or in a year's time the bill is now $99.95, early rate is over, and there's nothing I can really do about it.

I'm not saying the service is a scam but I just don't get why there is such limited to no real infographics on what the service and its prices are and why it's a bit inconsistent with the constant "$49.99 for 1 gig" that's tossed around.

Appreciate any info because I am interested but I just am a bit put off by how the information isn't the best laid out and I don't really buy the whole "$49.99 for 1 gig, no hidden fees, no contract, once we set the price it remains constant", world doesn't work like that.

July 2026 New Jersey Service Outages Update

7/10/2026 New Jersey Service Outages Update:

7/10/2026 2:21AM: Yesterday we continued to fix customer drops that were removed from their homes due to falling trees or branches. We still have a few customers without service, but 99.99% of customers are back to normal. Those who are not are traveling or are waiting for their electricity to be restored. We are back to normal operations and all repairs have been made. We will schedule some night maintenance next week to replace a few operational sections that are not repaired to our standards, after the power company finishes their repairs and/or fixes poor-quality emergency fixes that were done just to get power back for their customers. If you are still experiencing any problems at all or if our fiber is not properly attached to your home or hanging low, please let us know and we will fix it free of charge.

7/9/2026 12:33AM: Jefferson/Oak Ridge: Repairs were completed by 11PM last night, all customers are back online, if any remain these are isolated issues. We will return to this area next week overnight to finish repairing the cable damage. The remaining damage is not customer affecting.

Sherman Ridge Rd, Wantage: The power company has completed its repairs, and this enabled us to complete our repairs too.

Silver Lake Rd, Frelinghuysen/Johnsonburg: Some power work has been done over here, but it's still not safe to repair our fiber damage on Greendell Rd. Some temporary fixes were made in Frelinghuysen, utilizing some non-broken/non-burned strands on our 144-count cable. This restored service to about 20 customers in the Johnsonburg area. We also corrected a light-level issue for Silver Lake Rd, so all customers fed from there are now within specification.

7/7/26 8:56PM - We are down to a couple of hundred customers without service. Most of those don't have power yet which is why they are off. We can see this because the homes with generators are green in a sea of red. JCP&L is still making repairs in areas where our fiber is burned. We are hoping they will complete their repairs by tomorrow so we can fix the fiber serving these small areas. Every customer is important and every customer will receive our full attention until everyone is back up and 100% operational. Stay safe out there and avoid any downed power lines they may be live and deadly. Thank you!

7/7/2026 3:16PM - Our crews are continuing to make repairs to individual customers and still waiting on power to make the lines safe so we can run new fiber in damaged sections. As of this moment, 774 customers are still out of service, with approximately 600 of those due to no power at the home/business. JCP&L hasn’t started the repairs at most of the locations where we have to replace our fiber. They just arrived on scene in Jefferson. Those damaged sections are affecting about 120 customers total. Once power is restored, most other customers should come back online.

7/6/2026 6:40PM - Our crews continue to make repairs to damaged fiber feeding homes and businesses. JCP&L crews are on site at the four areas of major backhaul fiber damage in Sussex, Morris, and Warren Counties. We are hopeful that they will finish repairs by morning. We will be able to begin our repairs as soon as JCP&L finishes their repairs. We need to work on Greendell Rd/Hamilton Rd in Green Township/Frelinghuysen, Silver Lake Rd in Blairstown, Sherman Ridge Rd in Wantage, and Ridge Rd in Oakland/Jefferson, and we have some additional burned fiber in Cranberry Lake in Byram. Currently 847 customers are down due to power outages or mainline fiber damage or customer service drops ripped off houses by falling trees/limbs. We continue to restore services. Thank you for your patience.

7/6/2026 11:45AM: We are still waiting on power repairs in many areas, but our crews are out in force fixing individual customer connections where the cables have been damaged by falling trees and branches. Our teams continue to help customers get back online everywhere possible. We are down to less than 1,000 customers offline at the moment. As power continues to be restored and customers have power to their equipment and as we are able to safely access damaged fiber to facilitate repairs, this number will continue to drop. Over 96% of all Planet customers are working properly as of Monday morning. Thanks for your patience.

7/5/2026 2:54PM: Our crews continue to work restoring service. We are still waiting for the power company to fix the power lines first before we can work on many areas. We still have 1264 customers down at the moment. Service has been restored to 75% of customers who had outages. We want to thank our amazing team, who have been hard at work since Friday evening's storm. Current service outages are highly correlated with known power outages, due to no power at the home or a problem in the area due to damaged infrastructure.

7/4/2026 1:02PM - Service has been restored to about 800 more customers. (Some others lost service between update posts.) Approximately 2,200 are still without service. We are primarily waiting on power to be fixed so it is safe for our crews to work. Until power is fixed, we can't do any work. Our crews are actively monitoring the various areas and will begin work as soon as poles are replaced, high voltage power is restored, and electrical lines are no longer draped over our fiber. Happy Independence Day!

7/4/2026 9:56AM - Service has been restored to over 1,000 customers. Our teams continue to work to restore service to all customers as quickly as possible.

7/3/2026 Friday night's storm hit northern New Jersey hard, with winds over 60 mph bringing down trees, power lines, and fiber lines across our service area. In multiple locations, downed power lines have caught trees and fiber on fire.

We currently have over 3,700 customers offline, and we know exactly where the damage is.

Our crews will be working to restore service until every customer is back online. However, we cannot begin repairs until the power company de-energizes and repairs its lines, making each area safe. While live power lines are down, it is not safe for our team to work, period.

We're sorry for the disruption. This was a fast, violent storm, and restoring service safely is our top priority. We'll post updates as restoration progresses.

Thank you for your patience. Stay safe, and stay clear of any downed lines.

All other Planet systems are operational.

Question on current balance on last invoice and price reduction for a prepaid customer.

my wife and I have had planet networks since the rollout in Butler Nj, we initially prepaid a year the first year and prepaid another year back in November/december. I saw my latest invoice have a current balance of -$700+. does this mean I received the difference in price and they are just taking 50 a month from that balance until its gone?

Question about Speed and Equipment

Hi All, I am waiting for Planet Networks to become available (supposedly coming). I currently have 2 Gig with Optimum Fiber (supposed to be symmetric, but not even close). I use my own firewall (pfsense), does Planet provide a static IP address and how is the hand-off to the router Ethernet or SFP+? Finally what speeds does Planet offer and possible pricing?

New router coming (wifi 7) do i need to enable some sort of bridge mode?

Ended up pulling the trigger for a wifi 7 router, mainly because I've been having issues with my phone ( Samsung galaxy s24 ultra) with wifi. It would have trouble with the 2.4 and 5 g bands after being on wifi for extended periods, and I was looking to get wifi 7 for better coverage for my phone and PC.

My question is, do I need to enable some sort of bridge mode on the provided plume router/gateway, or do i take the ethernet from the wall adapter and put that directly into the new router? I'd like to avoid having a separate SSID for the gateway on top of one from the new router.

Charged twice

I was charged twice because I paid my bill then set up my autopay. I paid my bill a few days in advance and the set up my autopay to pay when my bill is due, which was three days later. So I paid twice in October, and then paid again in November. I called the Planet Networks to have this resolved and ended up speaking to someone name 'Kira' (not sure about spelling. She gave me the options of waiving December payment or a refund of on eod the October and very promptly took care off or. Within seconds she actually assessed, diagnosed and resolved dky issue with my own preference of resolution. The absolute hands down best customer service I ever had. No BS, just amazing customer service.

Service Issues Getting large lag spikes and timeouts (new install)

Seems like my router (its mine not the company) isn't talking well with the modem. Are their static routing settings I need to setup? Using the ping command on the cmd prompt I see the spikes. I thought maybe it was wifi interference but I ran a ethernet cable to rule it out and they're still happening.

The router I'm using is Deco BE11000

Cloudflare ISP Network Quality Page

This is a neat site/service provided by Cloudflare. Here is their page on Planet Networks: https://radar.cloudflare.com/quality/as3580

I'm still not convinced that their speed tests are accurate since they seem to have some bandwidth limitations compared to other sites, but I imagine they will improve that over time.

Xbox Nat Moderate question

Hey Planet we love your service it’s very fast and smooth no issues with the service. The only issue I’m having is on my Xbox console. I’m getting a double Nat detected now and a Moderate Nat. I don’t know if it’s something you guys have to adjust on the backend I tried doing troubleshooting here but to no avail and I can’t hardwire it it’s too far from the router. I appreciate any help you can possibly give me.

Some speed test sites showing less than normal speeds

First, let me begin by saying I've been very happy with our 1gig Planet Networks service overall. I notice when I use the Cloudflare https://speed.cloudflare.com/ or Measurement Lab https://speed.measurementlab.net speed tests (as well as a few others) the results show a significantly lower value than the ~980 gig I see from the "most popular" sites like Ookla or Google.

I'm running these test from my PC with a wired connection to my Orbi router. I'm not seeing any problems in our day-to-day Internet usage and our download speeds are speedy.

Are the Cloudflare and MLabs results not accurate? What could account for the differences? Is there something fundamentally different being measured?

Hopatcong rollout progress

I saw crews wiring Brooklyn Road earlier this year. Any word on progress into the rest of Hopatcong? After yet another rate increase and frequent outages, I’m ready to dump optimum the day my road is wired.

buffering/slow speeds?

hey all, got my service installed in Netcong two weeks ago and since, I've noticed buffering , slow internet responsiveness. I am using my own router Asus GT-AX11000 Pro. I've restarted, reset, dns flush etc, getting less than advertised speed. I am hardwired in.
