Discussion Battle Pass Thread

I understand the negativity around a potential battle Pass system coming. I would not vote for one per say, however I do enjoy trying to see the fun or positivity that would come from it.

It could possibly shift the generic rust feeling, grind to T3 for AK, monotonous same end game goals and builds. It could become interesting requiring players to get certain amounts of kills for a battle pass level etc.

Could be interesting if you need to run a certain monument or open x amount of boxes at a monument for a quest. This would pull players away from running the same monument you've come to generically run. I know not everyone gets stuck on the same monument every wipe but quite a few players do.

It could encourage new gameplay style for players who typically get into the same routine every wipe. That being said I know that isn't something all players would enjoy.

At the end of the day, a battle pass is also just something for skins, if they include anything other than skins then it's a bad system.

It stand or falls with the way it's implemented especially if it's going to replace the weekly rotation skin store.

There's plenty of people that only play specific game modes / playstyles and would still like to acquire skins. Giving them no other options to acquire a skin besides doing something that they don't enjoy sounds like shit design.

Or the famous 'you have to log in 30 days in a row to unlock the final skin' sort of bullshit.

Now if it's entirely free, I'm fine with whatever. But if there's a payed option including any of the above stipulations, it's a shit system.

The battle pass won’t be free and it won’t replace this existing weekly store.

Ah ok, saw some chatter about it potentially replacing the rust weekly. That's also specifically why I choose the word if.

Besides that, how is it people always engage with the most meaningless point of posts instead of addressing any of the relevant points? It's so fucking depressing and beyond pointless.

In your original comment, you referenced a “payed option”. I believe you meant to say “paid”, as the former refers to the act of letting out a rope or chain.

A Battlepass for a sandbox game is the weirdest idea.

For team games this has always been a fucking nightmare when introduced. Even in Fortnite that started it all, you’d get matched with people who were chasing battlepass goals and would prioritize that over winning the main game. It was the most frustrating thing, because not everyone is playing for battle pass stuff or are likely even having the same objectives even if they are. In rust might not be so bad because it’s not arena that some random doesn’t care about because they’ll just be gone in 15 minutes anyway. In rust, you choose your team mates and are stuck together, so likely people won’t be so brazenly just doing their own thing.

So long as it isn’t paywalled I think it’d be great. The incentive of new gameplay styles that stems from optional quests, challenges, and levelling should be available to all players

Oh it'll be $10 a month. I'm certain they will charge for it.
