This is a genre that’s hit or miss for me. There are a couple of good ones that are funny and entertaining, and some that are just boring.

Do you think that it is lazy to do your entire podcast around reading and reacting to Reddit posts and/or TikTok videos? To me, it’s an interesting genre, but there is one major issue.

Creative writing, obvious made up stories, and more recently AI generated slop are flooding this app on a level that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Nowadays, you have to carefully break down each post just to make sure you’re not reacting to something that was completely made up. You have to check post history, account age, and keywords that are dead giveaways before even using the content on your stream.

Am I reading too much into these? Are these podcasters still entertaining, even when the stories they are reading are clearly fake? Or maybe you dislike the genre as a whole?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some podcast recommendations.

I really love interesting historical podcasts like Conspiracy Theories and The Disappearing Spoon. I also like sociology type podcasts like Hidden Brain and How To Be A Better Human, but I don’t always enjoy conversational podcasts especially ones that are overly bantery or funny.

I also really love in depth investigated podcasts like Sold a Story, I’m a mom so stuff like that really piques my interest.

I’m not into true crime, I am sad enough as is.

What should I check out?

Looking for a podcast that tells either listener write ins or reddit stories that are disturbing or unnerving. Examples are people uncovering a dark secret, someone going through a disturbing event, experiencing a near death event, etc

I’d love some recommendations on your favorite history podcasts, generally I prefer medieval and ancient history but I love it all. I’d especially love podcasts that discuss women in history!

I just discovered What to carry, what to burn and binged all the available episodes. I’m looking for recommendations of similiar podcasts that focus on survival stories to fill the void while I wait for new episodes. I was surprised how much I loved this podcast!

50 episodes, the most recent of which is from 2016. Daily Show writer J. R. Havlan talks with other comedy writers with an emphasis on how they developed their writing and got hired. No ads.

I just finished listening to all of them. The first few episodes had a writing exercise which didn't really work and was dropped for the rest. It's pretty low-key and relaxed. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It is a good listen especially if you don't want to have to fast forward through ads.

I don't know why he stopped at 50 episodes but I think it just never caught on hence the lack of ads. But you can't go wrong becoming a bloc head even if you have no interest in becoming a writer yourself.

I’m looking for what the title says. I’ve been listening to Down to Sleep for a long time. His voice is so calming (though I usually turn the speed to 0.8 so it’s more drawn out and more dozing-off-like), but I really love horror. I subscribed to his Patreon so I could listen to LOTR and Twilight, but I’m losing interest.

I LOVED The Magnus Archives, but the voices sometimes woke me up…and the story really drew me in.

I don’t mind paying a little for what I want, but I also want to try listening to them without ads to see if it’s gonna work, y’know? So, does this magical podcast exist or should I just stick with what I’ve got?

I listened to 13 Minutes to the Moon twice and the other series about Apollo 13. It was mind blowing and addictive.

I'm looking for podcasts that are like mini series and have an end to them. it doesn't need to be about space. Others I liked were, silk road, the caliphate, I'm not a monster. Ideally something non-fiction.

I know I’m incredibly late to the game, but I just listened to Hunting Warhead while driving from Northern to Southern border and thought it was phenomenal. Besides that the only dabbling I’ve done is some of the Hassan Minaj episodes and Pod Save the World/America. We just moved into my partner’s grandparents old home and while I’m not set to start a new job until March, I have to clean, repair, update and decorate it all by myself for at least the rest of the year due tl my partner will be working out of town. That being said I’ve got hours upon hours of manual unskilled labor ahead of me and I desperately need things to listen to that is engaging and worthwhile for my chaotic and curious brain.

I am open to all genres, I really just enjoy learning and being knowledgeable about stuff. History, social issues, conflicts and genocides and really well “deep dives” about virtually anything are things I believe I would enjoy, but I’ll take any and all recommendations. If you can also put the genre or subject matter of your rec, I’d greatly appreciate it.
