I ran into so many issues and spent hours on this. Right when I was about to give up for the week, I told myself I'd try one last time and boom, there it is!

Used ACE to change my SID to make this high IV modest Staryu frame shiny and finally hit it after 25+ tries. Really happy with it!! Can’t wait to trade it to my main Fire Red save to EV train. This was on switch.

UPDATE: IT WORKED!!!!

I have been using PokéReader to find RNG frames for Celebi on a New Nintendo 2DS XL. But I have been doing this for a while now and haven't gotten a shiny yet.

- I load the game with PokéReader on the RNG screen, and progress normally until I get to "[Player] put in the GS BALL."

- I wait for the ADIV and SDIV index to be found

- I use L+R to pause the game and copy over the information into the RNG tool on pokemonrng.com

- I get an advance and use R, L+R, and L to advance to the desired advance with the Shiny Celebi

- I hit A and release as fast as I can (sometimes PokéReader unpauses but the game doesn't register the A press, so I have to try the next shiny frame)

All of this is normal procedure, but I have tried several times (havent been counting but it could be ~60 times easily) and never got a shiny.

There are a few things that concern me.

1. PokéReader makes my game lag in places. I take in good faith that PokéReader reads the advance number from the internal state of the game/emulator and doesn't just bullshit it, so I believe this shouldn't be an issue

2. Unlike other RNG tools, the one on pokemonrng.com for this purpose doesn't show the Pokémon around the particular shiny frames, as that could give me an idea of what offset of frames I have, given that my A presses seemingly land so off base.

Am I doing anything wrong, and if so, how can I mitigate them?

Have others gotten it to work on real hardware? And if so, is there any advice that's not apparent in the guide?

I watched the Papa Jefe video about using Cynthia's blink to hunt Mespirit/Cresselia but after checking the FAQ that's linked in the description I'm a little confused. I've never RNG manipulated a game before so maybe there's some terminology I don't know.

1) Does the cutscene that plays after beating the Elite 4 happen every time or just the first time? If so how does that affect the hunt?

2) To make it easier I'm going to copy/paste what the FAQ says about this:

"I already set loose a roamer, and now want to RNG it. Is it possible?

It is unknown at this time if it’d be possible to RNG it, and Papa Jefé plans to test it at some point. Roamers, when KO’d, respawn already roaming when you fight the Elite 4, and a save is forced upon defeated Cynthia. The roamer is generated and released to roam again immediately at that time. If you’ve already released Mesprit or Cresselia, it is much, much harder (basically masochistically impossible) to shiny hunt it period."

I think I get it but just to make sure this is just saying that it's impossible to RNG manipulate the encounter after the cutscene with Cynthia, right? You can only really start the process before the dialog in the Hall of Fame closes?

3) I'm pretty sure this still all works on Switch 2, right? Are there any differences I should keep in mind?

It basically accurately predicts all the trainers you will face in a round and their teams, movesets etc. based on your daily random seed.

Just for a laugh, I played through 2 rounds with the help of it and was able to win. But using the site removed the randomness of the Battle Tower that I enjoy more.

So I know this is a 17 year-old single player game and anyone is allowed to play it whatever way they like, but strictly from a moral standpoint would it be considered cheating if someone used this site to help them get their 100 wins?
