30 years ago, I knew a 60 year-old teacher in Japan who was raised by parents who thought babies should sleep on a big plank of wood. His nickname was “flathead.“ He had some laughs with it. He was smart enough to be a teacher, but it was pretty astounding – you could put a ruler on it.
