"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." U.S. Constitution, Article III, Section 3. The federal treason statute, 18 U.S.C. § 2381, mirrors the Constitution’s language.

You're proving the point that the constitution needs to be revised or completely rewritten. Or do you mean to suggest we only use the constitution's definition and not textbook definition.

If an American is to be accused of treason, then that crime is defined solely by the Constitution. If you want to use some other definition, OK, but you certainly aren't taking a legalistic approach.

I would love to see Trump impeached and convicted of subversion some day, but I can guarantee you if he's accused of treason then the constitutional definition will be mentioned in his defense given the facts as now are publicly known.
