You're talking nonsense, Trump.

u/anuncommontruth Pennsylvania 6h ago

He's scared. He's at the end of his life and has made zero attempt to play nice with Democrats and poised to win big.

He's in, "throw anything out there and see if it works." Mode.

100% - it's at the point where distractions aren't as effective as they used to be. The negative impacts on middle/lower class are too big to ignore - higher prices, lower quality, food recalls, ICE horror stories, irrational conflict in Iran, Epstein, and more.

The people who were "I'm okay with things as long as they don't impact me" are being impacted, and I think that's the biggest problem for him. It's easier for the average person to get pissed about higher prices they see everyday compared to maybe seeing a trans person once or twice a year in public (that they know of). There's obviously going to be people who can somehow keep up the mental gymnastics and delusion, but I think it's become such a steep uphill battle to maintain that when people are negatively impacted on every front.

I don't think he's scared, I think he genuinely believes that everyone loves him and everything he's doing, so he's going to win big. He's so deeply mentally ill his mind can't process people disagreeing with him.

Of course when he loses the only way he'll be able to process that is fraud, and he'll respond like a cornered animal.

That strategy worked well last time. You folks are still in danger.

u/sporkparty 38m ago

You are too. If the US goes completely fascist they will invade Canada, he’s been working that angle for years now.

u/never-fiftyone 34m ago

So do your damn jobs. Americans should be in the streets demonstrating en masse against everything that's happening, but they aren't.

We need to be better no way around it

What is so funny to me is Trump was a Democrat for years prior to switching to Republican just to make a run for President just because he hated Obama so much. He ran for president as an independent (reform party) before he did as a Republican (people forget this). He supported abortions. He donated to democrats, including Harris.

Obama fucked up. That God damn white house correspondence dinner where Obama took shots at him. You could literally see it in Trumps eyes, trump wanted revenge, and here the fuck we are.

He was not. He's not even a Republican imo, although they are emphatically claiming him because his traits align with theirs. He himself is a megalomaniac who applies labels strategically. He has always been wholly ignorant of actual policies, made easier for him today since GOPs have no policy. It's all in support of gaining money, then influence, then power. He can say he was Dem, Rep, Lib, etc....its just words.

So I looked it up. Trump first registered as a member of the Republican Party in 1987. But records show that since then he's changed his party affiliation five times.

In October 1999, he joined the Independence Party of New York.

Not long after, he declared himself a potential candidate for the Reform Party's presidential nomination for the 2000 election. The Independence Party of New York was at that time the state affiliate of the national Reform Party.

But after just four months, Trump withdrew from the race.

Then in 2001, Trump became a Democrat — and remained one for eight years and during that time donated to only democratic canidates.

Trump was actually one of Harris' financial donors too.

State records show that Trump donated US$6,000 in total to the then-California attorney-general's campaign — US$5,000 in September 2011 after she was first elected, and another US$1,000 in 2013.

Ivanka also donated US$2,000 in 2014 to Harris' re-election campaign.

In a 2004 interview with CNN, he said that "in many cases" he identified more as a Democrat than Republican.

"It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans," he said.

"It shouldn't be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats … certainly, we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But we've had some pretty bad disaster under the Republicans."

Don't fucking blame Obama for this. If it hadn't been Trump it would have been someone else. What became maga, what was tea party and the Sarah Palin wing of the Republican party back then, were ripe for a leader like Trump. Everybody thought it was going to be Sarah Palin. Maybe you're too young to remember. I don't know how old you are. But I remember back then leading up to the 2012 election being relieved that Sarah Palin didn't run, but also knowing that there was someone out there who was going to take her place and maybe was going to even be worse than her. She was the precursor " tell it like it is" to Trump. Only he took it further. And whoever would have been in his place would have taken it further as well. There was more than one person than Trump capable of seeing what these frothing crazy bigots wanted.

48 here so I do remember it. I also remember that the majority of us on Reddit specifically blamed Obama taking those shots at Trump for his run for president and later during Trump's first term. Almost every thread had someone saying this very thing.

There really wasn't anyone else like Trump. He was the Outsider, a poor man's idea of a Rich man, and 'said it like it was' (like you mentioned). None of the other Republican canidates were like that. They were all career politicans so they didn't really have that connection with the base.

The thing was, any outsider would have needed Trump money to start their run and then needed his cult of personality to fund raise and I don't see there was anyone else like Trump out there willing to take a shot at President. There was no one else to take his place. That's the issue the Republicans have for 2028. They don't have a Trump replacement.

And somehow Obama was supposed to have predicted this all and understood that taking a few shots at Trump during the White House correspondent dinner, which is well known for roasting people with jokes, was going to turn us to a nation headed to fascism? And I'm not sure that Trump is as unique as you think he is. It's easy to see it this way now, and of course, none of the career politicians could have done what he did. I agree with that. That there may have been other contenders that we are really not even thinking about right now that might have stepped into that spot. I'm not even saying they would have stepped into that spot at the exact same time that Trump did. Maybe it would have taken one or two more election cycles. I don't think anybody would have needed nearly his money. He didn't really have as much money as he pretended to, and he certainly didn't use as much of his own money for his presidential run as he likes for people to believe. I think for instance one of these tech Bros might have been a possibility, the ones that are now propping Trump up from behind.

In other words, he's talking.

Trump's desperate attempt to strengthen the bigot vote, which Republicans count on.

u/Ok_Establishment_799 6h ago

Even so, every insane threat is still scary as a trans person.
