I think the trust in the system is absolutely broken. Yes. I think allowing it to run based on the premise that every acting party involved will act on good faith in accordance with the rules that we have established, yeah that's pretty much broken too.
I think that what we need at this point is a much needed restructuring and modernization to the rules and regulations within our Constitution. It's not a holy text, nor is it merely a set of guidelines. It's a document that's meant to be updated to the times. We need to look at the articles more closely, discuss how to establish a better balance of power with far more robust checks in place and a means in which politicization can't just steamroll through it. We also need to examine the relevancy of the Electoral College, making it so that Presidents can't be decided via a few swing states; rather, they split the EC votes based on districts or percentage of the state's popular vote, or simply remove it altogether and go nationally popular.
I don't think we've reached our last chance yet, but we can't just go on after this like nothing happened, and instill the same trust in the system like before, acting as if another bad player can't just roll in and do the same things.
