The funny thing about trans people is that the chance of coming across one is gonna be pretty rare, and rarer still if you’re out in the rural areas of this country. And of all the people who are deathly afraid of trans people, they will never meet one in real life. This is such a dumb non-issue issue if there ever was one.

From what I understand, trans people are not interested in committing rape and pedophilia. They just want to live their life as how they think their body should have been from birth.

Editing to add:

Yes, trans people are in many places. I just suspect that they would not be welcomed into very deep red areas of this ridiculous country. We need to be better at being human beings instead of being knee-jerk idiots who have been told to be scared of everything. Hate propaganda accomplishes nothing good. I’m looking at you, Fox News!

The greatest irony is that the average person will come into contact with more registered sex offenders than they ever will trans people. Yet here we fucking are.

u/phuquesewpsyetit 3h ago

There seems to be a strong correlation between anti-trans sentiment and sex crimes. When you find out Epstein was funding the global anti-trans lobby all the pieces start falling into place.

I venture it is because sexual offenses are in part about demonstrating power over your victim. So the anti-trans push is yet another manifestation of trying to exert power over their victims, and such outlying social groups become a target.

Desire to wield power over other people could also be the root of greed (and many other things), and greed is the undoing of our society.

Said it for years, these people haven't been within 100 miles of a trans person

u/TrainingLow9079 28m ago

Yes they have, they just don't know it. It's not that rare.

u/BoJackMoleman 3h ago

Yeah but that's fine with them. Diddling kids is fine. Just don't be trans. Duh. Sigh.

Wonder what that Jenner person thinks about all of this.

u/Ashamed-Tour-4670 3h ago

Especially if you work in the admin. Natalie comes across one every day.

u/goodjobjus 5h ago

Or they have and never knew it because not many trans people walk around with a placard identifying their gender.

Hi. I'm a trans person and I can confirm that all I really wanna do is lay in bed and eat pickle and oreo sandwiches and probably re-watch supernatural for the 17th time. Maybe I'll touch my boobs at some point. But probably just to get rid of the oreo dust.

In all seriousness, we are all pretty chill people and most of us are working through a ton of trauma, dysphoria, and self hatred. We understand what hate looks and feels like because it's all we've ever shown ourselves. I can't speak for everyone, but most of us would rather bring joy to others because we know exactly what desperation is. All we want is to be happy beautiful people who help others.

Listen, call me a freak, call me a pervert, call me a degenerate. It's just gonna be met with kindness. Because the world needs more kindness. And I think a lot of Trans people feel the need to be 'more perfect' because we are in such a spotlight. Like heaven forbid I leave the house with my eyeliner not perfect. Or my voice drops, or I mess up the English language(it's not my mother tongue.) Like Jesus, just let us be people. Treat us like people. Because we are people. Why is that so difficult to understand?

u/raizewire 3h ago

Well said fellow trans person. I hope things get better in the US but I’m not holding my breathe.

u/mediocrobot 2h ago

Pickle sandwiches and oreo sandwiches? Or cookie+cream+pickle+cream+cookie stack??

u/harriethocchuth 1h ago

I’m only calling you a freaky degenerate pervert because I am ALSO in my 17th rewatch of supernatural and we are all freaky degenerate perverts here.

YOU DESERVE TO BE LOVED!!!

u/Hiddenagenda876 Washington 1h ago

I’m side eyeing the sandwiches but totally get the boob touching lol

I mean I'm a touch noncomforming so my opinion may not be "normal" (my ideal self would be the human equivalent of a female spotted hyena - but I'm lazy) but every transwoman I've met are far more effeminate than me and trigger my chivalrous/protective reflexes, there's like, zero threat? Never had a transperson cat call me, threaten to stab me, or really cause me any problem ever - and I don't mind that most seem to look way cuter than me that's cool I want to look vaguely intimidating anyway haha

We all know this is nonsense scapegoating anyway

u/SacamanoRobert 4h ago

Or they’ll meet trans people and not even realize it.

u/please_use_the_beeps 3h ago

Literally worked with a dude for a year and didn’t know he was trans until he told me. It’s incredible how people have managed to blow this non issue up into the main ammo of the culture war.

u/SacamanoRobert 30m ago

Exactly. Oftentimes, if you know it's because they feel safe enough to tell you.

u/Educational-Bet-8979 5h ago

25 years in criminal law, the only trans person I ever came across was a victim.

u/Internal_Swing_2743 5h ago

But it gets people riled up. It’s why they do it. People can just choose to be decent and not hate, but they won’t.

u/_bk_adv Colorado 5h ago

I’m 42. I bet I’ve interacted with fewer than 10 trans men/women in my life. At least to my knowledge. Not that it even fucking matters.

This administration is built on hate. Its goal is hate.

u/specialkk77 4h ago

That’s part of the problem. They can believe the trans boogeyman stories because they’ve never knowingly met a trans person. If they did they’d see the person instead of the bullshit they’ve heard on tv.

u/steemSTEM 3h ago

Pedophilia and rape are more Trumps thing.

u/Kurobei Georgia 3h ago

Can confirm, I just want to exist in peace. And yet others are very insistent that this cannot be allowed...

u/R3cognizer Maryland 2h ago

And if you look at the thread about this article over on the transgender subreddit, they're even calling out the author for misconstruing Trump's words.

u/unflavored 1h ago

I live in chicago and bump into clear trans folks rarely. I suppose its just my routes and circles. I suppose also in the city i wouldn't pay too much attention.

I know its just based on where you are but I travel for work the summer. I go out to rural counties all across the Midwest. Ill go to a fair here and there and at the county fairs I see a few Trans people here and there and there i truly see them stand out and I am filled with some sort of confidence and inner strength bc they're out here in enemy territory and just chilling.

Yet the same maga dumbasses will acknowledge them and even be respectful or cordial but then go vote republican.

u/k-trecker 1h ago

They’ll never come across one? I’m sorry, but we still exist in rural areas. That’s like saying they’ll never come across a gay person.

Now, we’re absolutely not numerous enough to be a problem the way they think. But we do exist everywhere.

u/halfsack99 1h ago

No it’s Republican Christians that seem to be in rape and child abuse, from what I can see.

u/JustUseCommonSense10 44m ago

If it's such a non-issue then its not a problem then if Republicans move against them.

u/TrainingLow9079 29m ago

I see trans people every day.  I work at a college but still, it's not that rare. You likely walk by a trans person every time you're in a grocery store.

u/davidkali 4h ago

More likely to meet one when a Republican Convention is in town. That’s the fear.
