One of Hitler’s last orders was to destroy all the infrastructure in Germany. Bridges, roads, airports, etc. to leave nothing for the conquerors. Luckily Albert Speer disobeyed those orders.

I’m not so sure our military leaders would be brave enough to buck orders - they’d just resign and leave a gap for Whiskey Pete to fill
