Hi everyone, With the influx of new posts related to portfolio investissements, although interesting, I've created a new subreddit dedicated for those so please post on r/finportfoliocritique to keep this one for art related topics. Thank you for your interest and openness by reaching out for feedback in both of those fields.

Can fanart of public domain characters be put in a portfolio?

I am a HUGE fan of lots of classical literature (Les Misérables, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Frankenstein, etc.) and draw a lot of art based on them. I know regular fanart cannot be put in a portfolio, but can fanart of public domain characters (I believe all those books are in the public domain) be put in a portfolio?

Portfolio Advice? Looking for a tat apprenticeship (or even reception) in Denver, CO!

Here’s the link to my portfolio WIP. The paintings are to showcase my color theory, I haven’t gotten around to making color tat designs yet. I have sketches I can put in, but have heard mixed feedback about including unfinished pieces.

I made a Windows 95-style developer portfolio — what do you think?

I'm a student from Pakistan and I built a portfolio that mimics a classic Windows desktop experience.

Tech: Next.js 15, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, TypeScript

It has:

- Retro teal desktop background

- Clickable icons that open windows

- Boot animation on load

- Blog section with articles

- Project showcase

Live: https://adilportfolio-tawny.vercel.app

Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

Feedback on my dev portfolio site (miguelbarra.cl)

Full stack dev here (React/Next.js/TypeScript). Just finished redesigning my portfolio: \[https://www.miguelbarra.cl\\\](https://www.miguelbarra.cl)

Would love some design/UX feedback. Curious about: visual hierarchy in the Work section, mobile experience, and whether the closing CTA feels convincing.

Open to any critique.

Migrated my portfolio to Next.js — added a time-aware hero and a live GitHub-powered migration timeline

Rebuilt my portfolio in Next.js + TypeScript. Couple things worth a look:

  • Hero rotates through 5 illustrations of me coding based on your actual local time (morning → late night), each with a click-to-reveal dev thought.
  • A migration timeline page pulls commit history live from the GitHub API and renders it as a scroll-driven, alternating-side timeline.
  • Whole site is templated off one config file, so it's genuinely forkable if you want your own version.

Also had to walk back an earlier hero design after someone pointed out it looked lifted from another portfolio's style — even though I built it myself, the idea wasn't mine. Swapped it out, kept the old one as an opt-in feature-flagged component instead of deleting it.

Feedback welcome, especially on whether the timeline scroll feels smooth or gimmicky.

Please rate my portfolio! I’m struggling with layout, composition, and arranging my projects so everything feels cohesive and visually appealing. I need to finish it within a week, so I’d really appreciate honest, practical feedback on what I should fix or prioritize first

Hey folks! I’ve been rebuilding my portfolio over the past few weeks, this time with a much stronger PMM focus rather than keeping it primarily content/SEO-led.

Would love a few brutally useful second opinions before I consider it done 😄

Especially curious about:

\* Does my PMM positioning come through clearly in the first few minutes?
\* Do the case studies show enough of the thinking/decisions, rather than just deliverables?
\* Is there anything you’d remove, add, or make more prominent if you were reviewing this while hiring a PMM?

Portfolio link is given above

Feel free to nitpick. I’d genuinely rather hear what isn’t working now than from a recruiter by way of silence 😅

I built a developer portfolio focused on showing the actual work behind my projects

I've always felt that a developer portfolio shouldn't just be a collection of screenshots and tech-stack logos.

So I recently worked on my portfolio to make it more focused on the projects themselves — what problem they solve, how they're built, the technologies involved, and the thinking behind the implementation.

Some of the areas I've worked on include:

  • React.js / full-stack web applications
  • ERP and business management systems
  • Transportation & fleet management
  • Billing and inventory systems
  • API integrations
  • Healthcare/ABDM integrations
  • Python-based applications
  • AI/LLM-related development

I'm trying to present these projects more like real product case studies rather than a traditional resume.

You can take a look here: https://shivambhalla.in

I'd genuinely like feedback from other developers:

What do you think makes a developer portfolio actually useful to recruiters or other developers?

Is it better to focus on:

  1. Technical architecture
  2. Real-world problems solved
  3. Live demos
  4. Source code
  5. Visual/project presentation

I'm particularly interested in hearing what you look for when reviewing another developer's portfolio.

I designed a cinematic portfolio site for photographers — looking for feedback I wanted to experiment with editorial typography, scroll-based animation and a more cinematic presentation for photography portfolios. Here's what I came up with. What would you change?
