I love what you have done with the contrast, it looks much better. Personally, I don't think the subject is very interesting but thats just my take

Your edit has shaped light to draw attention to that Orwellian structure. It's like a futuristic version of a medieval castle's turret.

Cropping has really made that turret even more attention grabbing.

Correcting the original image's color cast has also made the Orwellian turret stand out.

I wonder if it would be possible to lean into the Orwellian feel by allowing some of that color cast to return to the crowd? I wonder if returning some of that red to areas outside of that turret might make for a more ominous feel?

Increased contrast leads the eye to that area right of the center and that concrete thing- but there’s nothing to see really. Meh.
