Just sat my ucat today and this is my score. Can i get into Imperial medicine with this score?

Got 88887775L2M. A*A*A predicted. 1850 band 3. And very good work experience + completed PWAP programme.

Can I get into med school for 2027 entry and if so which ones (preferably no further south than Cardiff in UK excluding northern Ireland+Ireland)? Which ones give me the best chances?

Does anybody know a good website for MMI prep?
Are there different types of MMI depending on the med school?

Like certain grades must be achieved on first sitting or something alike. I couldn’t find any such info on website as far as I could see but I wonder if I missed it, since Ai told me something entirely new info I hadn’t seen before
"You must have achieved at least AAB at A-level (including an A or A* in Chemistry). Oxford states that graduate applicants are assessed against standard school-leaver criteria, meaning these grades must have been achieved in a single examination sitting. "

And then it says something very similar for Cambridge aswell

I’m eligible for Access UCL, KCL EMDP (A101) and Southampton BM6 and am a contextual applicant. I’m considering these 3 and St George’s and would really appreciate advice on how realistic my chances are with each of them. With Southampton I’m unsure as to if I should apply for the normal BM5 or go for the foundation year as I don’t know if my ucat is strong enough to get into Southampton normally in BM5.

Edging closer and closer to taking the leap towards preparing for med school, however I have one potential setback that I’m needing to consider - financing my tuition.

I’m unsure if student loans cover the whole tuition, and it’s just your maintenance loan that varies, or if I need to partly fund my tuition prior to entry? I’m currently earning money to fund my access course, and putting away money to fund my future expenses, but would like to know if my financial situation is going to put me at a strong disadvantage to gaining entry to university itself.

Apologies if this is a really stupid question, but I’ll be one of the first in my family to attend university and I come from a working class background where university was heavily discouraged, so this is all immensely unfamiliar.

I am an international student wanting to apply to medicine in the UK but I heard its incredibly competative for internationals. I recently did my UCAT ANZ getting 2270 in the cognitive and 570 (equivalent to band 3) in SJTs. I have an IBDP predicted of 41/45 and maybe 42 if I beg my school. But I do not have any medical experience or internships. I can maybe write about my experience as the leader of my schools service in which we raise cancer awarness in our school and donate for and host sessions with children with cancer but I am not sure if UK schools would care about that because its not directly medicine.

Right now I am thinking of Sheffield, Leicester, Nottingham (Because I got 750 on vr), and Liverpool. What are the chances of getting into these schools for me or alternatively should I look at easier schools. There really isn't that much information for internationals online.

Just wondering whether anyone can share successful uni interviews/offers for med with a UCAT below 1950. This would help myself, and I'm sure alot of other people, out. Non contextual, home please preferably. Appreciate it

I want to apply to oxbridge (still undecided as to which one but leaning more oxford) so ik GCSEs are important. For my GCSEs I got straight 9s but I did FSMQ and got a B 😭😭😭 I'm so mad because I literally didn't even want to do it but I got forced by my parents. In any case I was wondering if oxf/camb look at those grades and I'm at a disadvantage compared to people who did fewer GCSEs but got all 9s or even all 8/9s. Thanks :(

Hi, my daughter was hoping to study medicine in Scotland but has come up slightly short in her higher results(AABBB). Is it as simple as the door has closed unless she does another full degree? She does attend a school that may qualify for widening access however our home postcode doesn’t. Are there any other options that we may not have considered? She has just had her appeals back after missing maths and chemistry by one mark each and unfortunately she has been unsuccessful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hiii I'm an international applicant aiming for cambridge medicine and i have 3A\* predicted in chem, bio and maths with a ucat score of 2420 b2. may i ask if it would be a safer bet to apply for colleges with lower average ucat scores or should i go for more competitive colleges such as trinity or caius? thanks so much

I’m 18 years old,I live in the uk and I just took a gap year.I want to apply to a foundation year for medicine but my GCSEs are 666666653 and I ended up getting uuu in my a levels(bio,chem,maths).If I got a competitive enough ucat score of 2200 b1 or above and got predicted AAA in a level,business,bio,chem would I have a realistic chance of getting an offer from any uk university for foundation year medicine?(I qualify for most widening participation schemes)
Edit:I’ve already found 3 unis with no first time a level sitting requirements for a levels and accept resits but I know how competitive med school can be

Now i just want advice, since the unis i emailed all gave me the standard fill out the form when i apply, is it possible for some unis that dont accept resits to waive this rule for these circumstances.

During Year 13, I underwent lateral meniscus repair surgery in January and was medically absent from school until 20 March, missing approximately six weeks of teaching, including my final mock examinations.
On returning, I had to catch up on missed content while continuing with ongoing Year 13 teaching which we didn’t finish until a less than a week before A levels. A catch-up mock was initially arranged but later postponed after I raised concerns about insufficient preparation time because i was told i wasn’t doing them at first. I ultimately only completed the Maths catch-up assessment due to teacher availability in Chemistry and Biology and also missed some lessons due to physio.

I am planning to resit my A levels with the aim of achieving 2A* and an A as i was predicted but going to apply after achieving.

I’ve been thinking of taking a gap year to live my life a little more but wasn’t super sure whether I should or if I’m able to apply.

Stats:
8-8 (double science) 888776 at GCSEs
L2D (CNAT)

Predicted alevels: ABB in maths, bio, chem respectively.
I’m also eligible for a contextual application.

My teachers are doing assessments with the possibility of getting a higher grade too so I’ll do my best to get As in bio and chem.
I have a guaranteed offer of ABB for Notts if I have a successful application too but I’m worried my GCSEs are too low since they decide based off GCSEs and UCAT.

I’m doing my UCAT soon and I’ll likely get 1900-2100 I think but I’m not sure that’ll compensate.

If you are doing a 5 year course how much debt are you in if you only took a loan to cover the tuition, excluding any bursaries?

Idk exactly how it works but I heard that during ur degree u can transfer to another uni and ur degree will be awarded by that uni
I heard of a guy doing med at Newcastle transferring to Oxford final year and he was awarded a Oxford medical degree
Was wondering if it’s possible too for bms for unis and whether doing it at the open uni makes a dif
In regards to ibms could it solve that problem transferring from non accredited to accredited for eg Ik queen mary might not accept u straight into third year but second year and saves the hassle of getting ur degree accredited

Would it make ur application less competent if u went to one of the lowest tiered universities for biomed in UK. Be honest with me please, I’m thinking if I should transfer or not (if I transfer I’ll have to self fund one yr of tuition fee)

Hello, my university in iraq accept the grade BCC for
1 as level biology i got C, and Chemistry and physics I got B in both of them.

The university do biomedical sciences and after getting 2:1 and a high ucat (2500+) then you’ll be accepted to university of surrey of their medical program and you can do FY1 and FY2.

The thing is I am 23 Yo, by the time to university of medicine I will be 25, and I am scared to even think about not passing or them bringing some other things up like my A2 biology getting E and two igsces getting D

Some background information, I initially had two medicine offers this year, both of which were contextual so ABB.

Come results day, I got BCD. Clearly, miles off my offer and somewhere deep in me, even before the exam season started I had a little paranoid voice telling me I was not going to get the grades. Despite putting in literal, blood, sweat and teara not a single ounce of the sacrifice I put in amounted to the best possible outcome. So, I identified my weak areas and am trying to work on them.

Looking back, I wasn't strategic enough with my revision stratergy and suffered a lot with my mental health, which was a huuuuuuge contributing factor towards my approach in revision, exam season and academics. I stopped taking care of myself and became a shell of a person....

I have big ambitions and expectations for myself now, and am actively trying to work towards them. So, if you were unintentionallu forced into a gap year and then got into medicine, veterinary and dentistry please drop all your advice!! I want this to be a space, where the we can all learn from each other

I am by no means dissapointed with my GCSE results as i got good grades that i am happy with, and to be honest, i tried my hardest so i cant really be upset even if i wanted higher than what i got.

Anyway on that note, i am an aspiring medical student and i am very set on going to imperial college london as ive looked through the whole course and it quite honestly looks like everything i want for the future of my education.

All i see everywhere is just you need mainly 8's and 9's to get into a place like that and all i feel is worry that my grades arent good enough for specifically this Uni.

So i got 8887777766 which i am so happy with (though i did get emotional on the day because i thought i got a 9 but i now realise that that was stupid loll. If it helps, i got two of the 8's in biology and chemistry and the 6's are in geography and french.

Ive gotten into 6th form i wanted to which i am happy about despite being really nervous for next week (i have had nightmares about it the last two nights in a row)

For my a levels ive picked Bio, Chem and Psychology. I am happy with my choice of psychology and have done proper research SO NOBODY TRY TO GET ME TO DO MATHS INSTEAD!! (Posted a few months about what options to pick and a few people werent very nice about my choice lol)

Anyway, assuming i do well enough in my a levels for intance A*A*A* - A*AA, is it still possible that i can get into this uni because i kid you not its my dream, i know i could probably still go med if i do well but i just wanna specifically know about imperial med with those GCSES
