Troubleshooting Is this fixable/worth fixing?

I was recently given a Brother MFC-J6740DW colour inkjet, and I've spent a good amount of time trying to get it into a workable state; I think I've done all I can but I can't get it printing without significant banding.

Print quality check looks not terrible except some of the black dots are missing (the yellow looks clearer IRL).

I can't get the automatic alignment adjustment to run - when I put the test sheet on the scanner glass, it insists I have it in portrait orientation (I don't) and it has to be in portrait, so I can't get past that point. If I try manual alignment, it asks me what number has the least lines, but for most sections they all look the same.

My complete-amateur assessment is that the print head is DBR or at least beyond my ability. As I'm just a very small business owner who mainly needs to print and scan text docs (and the occasional TTRPG resource on the weekend), I suspect I'm better off just buying a new lower-end machine; am I right?

Before condemning the print head, try running the Brother cleaning cycle a few times, then print the nozzle check again. If the same color segments remain missing, the head may be clogged. A fresh compatible cartridge or genuine Brother ink can also rule out an ink-flow issue.
