Oh man, when I was young, I emptied full pack of 9V batteries. My parents refused to give me another, so I plugged it straight into the socket.

Luckily I was't harmed, but I turned off the power to the whole house. Don't ask me what happened next.

I think everybody- at some point of their life had made this project- irrespective whether you are rich or poor.
