Sep 18 - explore and settling in.

Sep 20 - Via ferrata (most likely at Manoir with Projet Vertical https://projetvertical.com/en/
Sep 21- rest day - possible hike at Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier
Sep 22 - mountain biking at Empire 47
Sep 23 - possible hike at Vallée Bras-du-Nord and depart, possibly staying a night in Montreal that evening

A couple of notes:

• I have been to the Montmorency Falls before so I probably will not be visiting there again. I might visit the old town though. I'm also open to suggestions.
• Sep 19 ad 20 are weekends and the activities cannot be moved (they are available in weekends only)
• Canyoning, via ferrata, and mountain biking are all half-day

I just read that the Aloha Surf ( https://alohasurf.ca/ ) just opened last week so I might pay them a visit. (I am aware that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)

What do you think of it? Any alternative hiking place suggestion? I also need restaurant suggestion.

Hello going to be in Quebec and it seems like all the tourist information I look up basically highlights the exact same things - looking for non tourist neighborhoods and bars to hang out in to get a feel for “real” Quebec. Also I’ve heard good things about the Capitales game so we’re gonna check that out tix are so cheap - anything in particular recommended before during or after a Capitales game. TYIA!

Hey guys, I will be visiting Quebec City in October during the long weekend. I'm planning to stay in Quebec City between October 10th–12th or October 9th–12th.

I'm coming from Southern Ontario, so it's going to take me about 10 hours, including breaks, to reach Quebec City.

I wanted to see where the best place to stay would be.
To be honest, my nightly budget is not more than $120, because I'd rather go out, do some activities, and pay for those rather than staying in an overpriced hotel.

I also intend to maybe just grab a bicycle and do a walking and cycling tour of the city; if the place is close to my hotel, it makes it easier for me to not take my car out and just go walking and cycling all the way. That's the kind of experience I look forward to have - hoping the bicycle won't get stolen! And if it does, if there's some sort of insurance I can get... that's definitely a separate topic... lol

So to sum up -
1. Looking for area recommendation for hotels.
2. Places to visit to get the actual feel of Quebec city and culture unlike a typical Montreal experience (which is more commercial most time)
3. Any activities in and around the city during this time?

I want to explore fall colors (hopefully up by then) so trying to find a good location.

I intend to visit Montmorency Falls, Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier and Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. But if there are alternatives that are a great drive or walk.. please do recommend.

p.s- I can't walk more than an hour because of an injury so a hike may not be ideal.

I'll be visiting Quebec City with my kids (ages 12 and 13) from Sunday Sept.6th -Tuesday Sept.8th. I'm looking for some affordable but good cafés/bakeries ($15-$25 for 3) for lunch and/or dessert and places to eat dinner for about $50-$60 for the 3 of us, if that is even possible. Please do not recommend fast food places, or overly common food chains or sushi. Looking for something more local and authentic, but affordable for me. The hotel will provide breakfast, so we are set there.

I would also appreciate some suggestions on what to do or see, like any worth while boat tours or which neighbourhoods or parks to explore? And most importantly, are there any cool events/free festivals this weekend that are kid friendly?

I am visiting my girlfriend that lives in QC and my mother is meeting her for the first time. We reserved Melba already but the day we arrive we are between Rioux or Ketchup. My girlfriend and I already went to Rioux and we LOVEDDD it, so maybe we should try somewhere new? My mother loves meat and my girlfriend is pescatarian.

My family and I would like to come to Quebec City at the end of November to visit the Christmas Market, and flights are crazy expensive. How is it driving during that time of year? American here! Visiting Quebec City for the first time ever over Labor Day. I would love to know what to expect as far as crowds, probably going to hit up a lot of the tourist trap areas, Such as Petit Champlain, Old Quebec, Montmorency Park and The Falls. Am I missing any must see locations? All advice and insight is welcome!

Update: Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We went downtown to check out Le Bôite de Nuit and a couple of other places that were participating in the music festival, but by the time we got there it was wrapping up and the music wasn't quite our vibe. We did, however, stumble upon Bar Les Yuex Bleus in Old Quebec and the music incredible! We were pretty much the only ones dances and by far the oldest ones there, but the dj was lit! Thanks everyone for letting us explore your beautiful city!

My wife & I have been looking at some trips to change our routine. After my daughter just started taking French I stumbled upon Quebec City & fell into the rabbit hole lol

After showing them numerous tour videos I knew they wanted to go so I surprised them with a week long stay in November while my daughter is out of school.

We'll be doing a few days at Auberge Saint-Antoine, Relais & Chateaux & then Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac.

While we are there I was thinking of maybe getting a nicer Christmas card photo along with all the other things we will be doing. Anyone have any recommendations.

Also since it's November are there any events or things people can suggest? my daughter isn't a picky eater so I will be making a reservation for Le continental for dinner one night (we'll be driving up so I'll have my car)

10 months ago I (F29) moved from Toronto to Quebec City to live with my boyfriend who is from here. I found remote work so that I could work from Quebec without too much trouble. My French is intermediate, I’m about to start the francisation course, so I hope it keeps improving, it’s not “bad” by any means but it’s difficult when looking for job opportunities.

Currently at home all day in the apartment with no one to talk to . I have no coworkers. I’m having trouble making friends as well. When I try to look for jobs in Quebec City, I either can’t find anything in my field, (I’m not currently working in my desired field) or I’m being rejected based on my “Français: intermédiaire” status on my resume. I’m feeling super isolated and honestly hopeless about the idea of living here forever if I can’t find a community or work that I feel inspired by.

Is there any hope for me? When I see jobs I want they are always in Montreal but my BF doesn’t want to live there.

Please let me know if you know of any communities I can join, or any suggestions on work here.

Quebec City is the one Canadian city I have missed in all my travels from the US (please excuse the current leadership idiocy and insanity - many of us are appalled and dismayed)....but I plan to remedy this by a week long visit. I arrive in QC later this weekend. I would love and appreciate any suggestions for casual restaurants with typical quebecois food.....also a place for a great massage.
