Help setting up local server.

Does anyone have a good walkthrough or tips for setting up a local server. I set my 6yo up with her own rig and have dirt karts mod and tracks setup. I have both computers setup on the same router, allowed rFactor access to the network and I can ping to both computers via command prompt. Used the dedicated server setup tool in the game folder, no dice can not get them to work. I use radmin for nr2003 when I setup local servers. It doesn’t seem to work either!! What am I missing?

I don’t think so I’ve allowed it access to my network and I’ve also tried it with and without my vpn activated. I’m sure I’m missing one simple step just can’t seem to wrap my head around it.

On the server computer, In the search box in your start menu, type firewall. Depending on Windows version, it is called something like "Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security"

Open that up, and click "inbound rules" Find rfactor, look in the "Program" column and find the one that says "rFactor Dedicated.exe" and make sure it shows "Enabled" and "Allow"

Do the same on the machine that is trying to connect, but in the "Outbound rules" to make sure rfactor.exe can get out.

On the server machine, open a command prompt as administrator, and type "netstat -b -a". This will give you a list of all the ports your PC is talking or listening on and the process/program that is using it. Make sure you see this in there somewhere:

[rFactor Dedicated.exe]

TCP 0.0.0.0:49664(PC NAME):0 LISTENING

What do you mean by “not work”? The browser will never work, because the server that hosts that no longer exists.

Can you click the plus on the join screen and connect by IP?

Nope sorry skipped that info. Doesn’t matter which computers IP address I enter the only computer that can connect is the one that started the server.
