What do i do.

yeah so i’m a teenager, my mom cares more about going out than being home and our home has becoming neglected. My grown sibling leaves dishes everywhere, to the point MAGGOTS form, infront of their damn eyes. I’m so sick of this, what can i say or do to get them to help clean? i work til 1am most nights and dont have the energy to clean the whole house alone. It’s so gross please help me, im going mentally insane.

You’re not gonna be able to make anybody else clean, especially if they’re used to living like that and it doesn’t bother them. Tell someone at your school. I believe teachers are mandated reporters and maybe it’ll take authority stepping in to say hey you gotta clean this up or you’re gonna get your kids taken away.

100% this.

Sounds like you parent is dealing with caretaker burnout, and needs some support or a kick in the pants.

I can assure you that pretty much anywhere the Department of Children and Families (or local equivalent agency) will do everything they can to help make sure that if the parent needs mental support that they get that instead of a removal of custody. However they will absolutely remove custody of the parent can't be helped.

First, you are very sane and seeing things pretty clearly. I don’t actually know what you should do. I hate for the cleaning to only fall on you. Would it be easier to take/understand, realizing that your mom seems to be hurt and acting out by staying away? She needs help, like therapy help. I agree, I don’t think you can change their cleaning routines. You can start plotting how you will get out when you’re 18. Can you find a mentor to help you plan and find resources?
