Step-by-step guide to submit your app for beta testing on r/realapptesters

Hey everyone,

Saw a few people asking how to properly post their app for testing. Had the same confusion when I started, so here's a clear breakdown — hope it helps someone!

Step 1: Create a Reddit Account

  1. Go to https://www.reddit.com
  2. Sign in or create a free account

Step 2: Join r/realapptesters

  1. Go to https://www.reddit.com/r/realapptesters
  2. Click Join to become a member

Step 3: Create Your Post

  1. Click Create Post
  2. Enter:
    • App name (e.g., MyApp - Android Beta)
    • A short description of what your app does
    • What kind of feedback you're looking for
  3. Add your beta testing link (Google Play, TestFlight, etc.)

Step 4: Set the Right Flair

  1. Before posting, select the correct flair:
    • Android for Android apps
    • iOS for Apple apps
    • Both if cross-platform
  2. Click Post

✅ Your app is now live for testers to find and try

Step 5: Engage With Your Testers

  1. Monitor your post for comments
  2. Reply to feedback — testers are more likely to go deeper if you respond
  3. Update your post if you release a new build

👉 Testers will comment, DM, or use your beta link to download and test

(Optional) Pin a Comment With Extra Info

  1. Leave a comment on your own post with:
    • Known bugs to ignore
    • Specific areas you want tested
    • How to report issues (email, form, etc.)
  2. Ask a mod to pin it or pin it yourself if you're a mod

Quick Tip

If you want faster testers, mention in your title how long testing takes — e.g., "5 min to test" gets way more clicks than a vague title.

Welcome to RealAppTesters – A community for Android developers dealing with Google Play closed testing

Welcome.

If you are here, you probably know the pain. You built an Android app. Code works. Design works. Then Google tells you that you cannot publish because you need 12 testers for 14 days.

This subreddit is for developers like you. Share your struggles. Ask questions. Learn what actually works.

What this community is for.

Asking for help with closed testing. Sharing what worked for you (or what did not). Discussing Google Play Console issues. Getting feedback on your production access questionnaire. Learning about the 12 tester requirement.

What this community is not for.

Spam. Selling fake testers. Promoting services that use bots or emulators. Being rude to people who are just trying to launch their app.

A few things to know before you post.

Google requires 12 testers for 14 days. Not 20. That changed. Some old guides still say 20. They are wrong.

Google checks daily activity, not just installs. If your testers stop opening the app after day 2 or 3, you fail. You restart the 14 day clock from zero.

Free test for test groups work for very simple apps. Calculators. Flashlights. Unit converters. If your app has login, setup, or specific knowledge required, free testers will probably not stay engaged.

A quick note about me.

I run RealAppTesters, a service that provides 12 testers for 14 days. I am not hiding that. But this subreddit is not just for promoting my service. It is for helping developers get through closed testing, whether you use my service or not.

I will post guides here about closed testing, Play Console setup, and production access. I hope other developers will share their experiences too.

Let us start with a question.

How many times did you fail closed testing before you passed? Or are you still stuck? Comment below.

Welcome to r/RealAppTesters.

12 testers needed for Clarinu, a study planner for students - can't test back, here's what I can do instead

Clarinu turns your exams and homework into a day-by-day plan of short study
sessions - and rebuilds it when you miss one, so falling behind doesn't mean
starting over. Free, no ads.

Straight up: I can't install your app, I don't own an Android device. But I'm
not asking for charity. One thing I can actually trade:

If you have an iOS build in TestFlight, I'll test it properly on my iPhone and send you real notes.

If you want to join, it's two steps and both are needed:

Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/clarinutesting

Then opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.clarinu.app

The group alone doesn't register you as a tester.

Tell me what's confusing when you open it - worth more to me than the install.

🚨 Major update — Android call screening app needs testers [Closed Beta]

Hey everyone,

I've just pushed a major update to Who's Calling + SPAM Guard — an Android app that screens your calls before you answer them. The caller has to identify themselves, you see a live transcript and spam risk score, then decide whether to answer, send to voicemail, or block them.

This update is a significant overhaul and I need fresh eyes on it before we go to full production release on Google Play.

What's new in this update: - 3D pressable call screen buttons with real depth and tap feedback - 5 spam risk tiers colour coded green through red - Live word-by-word transcript as the caller speaks - Single status bar that locks the moment you make your decision - Wood grain and powder coat texture options - Classic, Round or Square button shape per SIM - In-app coach guide walking through all 11 features - White or dark transcript background option - Buttons lock after your decision — no accidental double taps

To join the beta:

  1. Join the Google Group (required for access): https://groups.google.com/g/wcsg-beta-testers

  2. Opt in to the beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.whoscalling.spamguard

  3. Install or update from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whoscalling.spamguard

What I'd love feedback on: - Does the call screen feel intuitive and responsive? - Are the spam tier colours clear at a glance? - Does the onboarding flow make sense? - Anything broken, confusing or off?

All feedback welcome — drop a comment here or message me directly. This is a genuine indie app built solo and every tester genuinely makes a difference to the final product.

We're close to qualifying for full production release and every tester in the group counts toward that milestone. Would love to have you on board.

Thanks 🙏

Testers for Android App- Nucleus - An All in 1 Personal Dashboard

Hi everyone! 👋

I'm looking for 12 closed testers to test my new Android app, Nucleus, for 14-day closed testing period on Google Play.

📱 About Nucleus — Your life, tracked

Nucleus holds the parts of your life that single-purpose apps keep apart — money, tasks, habits, health, and mood — in one unified timeline.

  • Natural Language Capture: Type entries naturally in one box (e.g., "coffee 15", "slept 6 hours", "call mum Thursday"). On-device interpretation proposes the record for your confirmation.
  • Correlations & Insights: Connects spending, sleep, and productivity without guessing (e.g., comparing spend on well-rested vs. short-sleep days).
  • Life Score: An objective score based on Habits, Tasks, Health, and Money.
  • 100% Private & Offline-First: No accounts, no servers, no ads, and no tracking. Everything stays locally on your device.

Tevoma, a fitness coach app that actually remembers your history (looking for TestFlight testers)

Helloooooo, I've been building Tevoma solo, a fitness/nutrition coaching app that tracks your real workout and nutrition history and gives you specific, honest feedback instead of generic "great job!" messages. No gamification, no streaks, no AI-chatbot gimmicks — just a calm, straightforward coach.
Looking for a few people willing to actually use it for a few days (not just open it once) and tell me what's broken, confusing, or missing.
iOS only. You'll need the free TestFlight app from Apple and if you don't have it, the link below will prompt you to grab it first, then you can install Tevoma through it.
TestFlight link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/gVbnYDau
Appreciate any feedback, good or bad — I'd rather hear about a bug now than after a real launch.

My first Android app. Looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone,

I recently developed my first Android app, an Attendance & Salary Tracker designed to help employees easily track their attendance, work hours, overtime, and estimated salary.

This is my first published app, so I'm looking for honest feedback rather than downloads. I'd really appreciate it if you could try it out and let me know:

  • Is the UI easy to use?
  • Does the app feel fast and responsive?
  • Are there any bugs or confusing features?
  • What features would you like to see added?

Your suggestions will help me improve the app and become a better developer.

Thank you for taking the time to help! 🙌

[Beta] Spendly — an Android app that auto-tracks expenses from bank SMS, looking for testers

Hey all,

I've been building Spendly, a personal finance app for Android that reads your bank/UPI SMS (with permission) and automatically logs transactions, so you don't have to manually enter every expense.

Features so far:

- Automatic SMS-based transaction capture (bank + UPI)

- Budgets, spending insights, Needs vs Wants breakdown

- Savings goals, account balance tracking

- Penny — a built-in AI assistant for questions about your spending

- Fully private: raw SMS is processed on-device only, never uploaded; no ads, nothing sold

It's currently in closed testing on Google Play and I'm looking for people willing to try it out and give honest feedback (bugs, confusing UX, missing features — all welcome).

If you're interested:

  1. Join the tester group: [spendly-beta-testers@googlegroups.com](mailto:spendly-beta-testers@googlegroups.com)

  2. Opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tidybitz.spendly

  3. Install from Play Store

Happy to answer any questions about how it works or what's coming next. Thanks!

Be part of LocalFLEX Closed Testing. Looking for Android testers for my app - Test for Test

Looking for Android testers for my app - Test for Test

Post:

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing to launch my Android app, LocalFLEX, and I need a few testers for the Google Play closed testing period.

LocalFLEX is a local services marketplace built for Romania, where people can post needs/tasks and find service providers nearby. The app is mainly focused on the Romanian market, but English is available after login, so non-Romanian speakers can also test it properly.

I need 20 testers who can install the app, keep it on their Android phone for 14 days, and open it from time to time.

I’m happy to do the same for your app if you also need testers. Test for test (CONTACT IN PRIVATE FOR TEST-FOR-TEST ).

P.S. I'm not online 24/7 because I'm a brand-new dad and my little one keeps me busy. 😊 I promise I'll check my chats and comments every hour or so and get back to everyone as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience!

Steps:

Join the Google Group:

https://groups.google.com/u/3/g/localflex-closed-testing

  1. Accept the testing invitation:

https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4700963185241097871

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ro.localflex.app

  1. Download the app from Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.localflex.app

If you can help, please join the group and send me a private message so I know who joined. Feedback is also welcome, especially if you notice bugs, crashes, confusing screens, or text that sounds wrong.

Requirements:

- Android phone

- Gmail / Google Play account

- Keep the app installed for 14 days

- Open it occasionally during the testing period

P.S. I'm not online 24/7 because I'm a brand-new dad and my little one keeps me busy. 😊 I promise I'll check my chats and comments every hour or so and get back to everyone as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience!

Thank you!

  1. Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/google-group-testers-app
  2. Closed-test opt-in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.nofaptracker.app
  3. Install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nofaptracker.app

I’m looking for reliable testers who can keep StopFap Tracker Pro installed and participate in the closed test for the full 14-day period required by Google Play.

StopFap Tracker Pro is a private and completely offline sobriety tracker designed to help users overcome porn addiction, complete NoFap challenges, and build healthier habits through motivation and accountability tools.

What testers need to do:

  • Join the Google Group and closed-testing program
  • Install the app from Google Play
  • Keep it installed for at least 14 days
  • Open and use it occasionally
  • Share honest feedback if you notice any issues

Test exchange

After joining, leave your Google Group, closed-test, and Play Store links in the comments. I will test your app in return and keep it installed for the required testing period.
