Java Edition tutorials that actually explain why stuff works?
been getting into redstone recently and its been really fun figuring out for myself how simple stuff like item sorters work. that being said i hate that redstone tutorials on youtube never explain why stuff works, does anyone have any recommendations on youtubers who explain? preferably those aimed at redstone noobs but whatever is fine

The videos could become hours long if people did that. Some videos do go into detail about how and why the components work but they are a couple hours long at times.
You would be better off asking why certain things work. Or searching videos of the component you have questions about.

Gnembon is the absolute GOAT for explaining his builds. Ilmango and IanXO4 are both solid at explaining why as well.

They don’t tell you because they know how each redstone part works and interacts. You need to start with the basics. Experiment for yourself, and watch videos about each redstone “block” and logic gates.

I absolutely love the Redstone from Zero series by MistRazor for exactly this. Each episode focuses on one component, explaining the fundamentals of how it works, then delving into some of the ways it can be used. The whole series builds on itself in a great way.

I would recommend mattbatwings if you’re interesting in computational redstone, he has full series dedicated to explaining stuff
