I thought this might be a good way to introduce myself here.
This is my current 1914 Imperial German Officer impression, based on an Oberleutnant of Infanterie-Regiment 'Graf Kirchbach' (1. Niederschl.) Nr. 46.
I’ve been building the impression for quite a few years, and one of the things I enjoy most is going beyond just the uniform and field equipment. Over time I’ve been collecting all the personal items an officer might actually have taken with him — underwear, shirts, toiletries, cutlery, glasses, smoking items and other bits and pieces that usually don’t get much attention.
Some of the items are original period pieces, others are reproductions. The impression is still evolving 😅

I'm in the process of purchasing something you don't see everyday, that being not an MP44 or "StG 44", not an MP43, but an MP43/1 (the development "stop-gap" between the final production variants in the StG family). Along with this I'm thinking of making an impression centered around the gun, I was wondering where I should start when it comes to researching SS, as it isn't my main area of expertice (Uusally Heer), though considering all this I thought I'd ask for help from people who know more about the topic than I.

To be straight forward, time isn't necissarily an issue as to be quite frank, I am now broke.

Looking for help for a WWII tanker set up. Mainly June - October of 44 and December - April 45 in the ETO.

Also suggestions of little equipment detail or things to add would be great! I also do Indian Wars, Punitive Expedition and inter war period US Cavalry impressions.

Company Commander and Soldiers of the 12th Rifle Division, August 1919. The 12th Rifle Division of The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, served as a part of Vladimir Selivachev’s shock group, a combined rifle and cavalry unit of the Red Army tasked with hurling back Anton Denikin’s White Russian forces near Kharkiv in the summer of 1919, during the height of the southern white forces advance. 40,000 infantrymen and 4,000 cavalry fought an intense battle where Denikin’s volunteer and Don Cossack army’s lines met, eventually becoming encircled by white troops during their offensive and nearly annihilated in their successful breakout.

The 12th rifle division later went on to fight in the battles against the whites in Donbas and Kuban as part of the famous 1st Cavalry Army, and later in 1920 against Poland and participated in the suppression of nationalist Ukrainian forces and peasant uprisings before being reformed into a border guard unit of the Cheka in 1921.

What is the difference between this kind of parchment and the material of a drum head made out of stretched sheepskin? It looks like the same material. Maybe the sheepskin is a little thicker?

I know most drums have a synthetic head now. It's rare to see a drum with a skin head. They don't hold up against humidity.

Hello! Since August is almost over I wanted to share with y’all how a Falangist would look like during the Summer of 1936.
I often do a lot of mid and late war impressions and I kinda leave aside a lot of the “early days” stuff, which to many, it’s more interesting due to the somewhat chaotic nature of the conflict during this period.

Here’s quite a “minimalist” militant, armed with an old m1893 Mauser and supplied with just one regulation cartridge box, if this fighter has been fortunate enough perhaps the pouch is full with a nice Sevilla Pyrotechnic Factory 50 round box. This massive lack of supplies comes from a few important factors but the most significant one being the huge increase of fighting men depending on a very small industry or small army depots, this caused that 3 pouch (150rnd) leather webbings had to be split between 3 men or worn with only one full pouch as many first hand accounts mention. The lack of sufficient leather and optimal industrial production also caused this lack of enough ammo and equipment though this will be improved through the war.

When it comes to the uniform (or lack of) this fighter is wearing civilian linen trousers, very commonly used in the south during the summer, specially in Sevilla according to photographic evidence, a pair of civilian alpargatas (which are very nice for the heat and quite comfortable to wear), an army regulation belt, a falangist gorrillo and blueshirt, perhaps tailored but most likely produced and handed by the female section of the party to their male comrades.

As obvious as it is, this gear is not meant for prolonged combat by any means, thus to countermeasure this lack of supplies and equipment the nationalist high command created highly mobile motorized units that would serve as scout and combat forces, the priority was to be able to move fast between towns and help reinforce the sieged cities of Cordoba and Granada, as those were highly compromised, as well as conquering nearby towns that were in most cases lightly defended by local militias.
This strategy proved effective during the summer of ‘36, during the early morning a bunch of these boys would hop on the back of a few trucks and move to wherever they were needed, then they would return to the barracks for dinner and get resupplied again.
However, once larger conquests and republican units became better organized this strategy was no longer effective and it even led to catastrophic events, thus this strategy was mostly abandoned or left only for reserve “firefighter” units.

Anybody know where I could find some 7.92 dummy rounds that does bulk discounts. I need at least 50 of them for a machine gun belt.

The lowest price I could find was like $3 per round and I ain't about to pay $150 dollars for some fake rounds.

This past weekend, the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT, hosted its first annual WWII weekend which was organized by CT based group the 43rd Infantry Division, 169th Regiment.

Portraying the role of War Correspondent and using my profession as a photographer, I had an absolutely incredible time documenting the weekend.

I am trying to do a Czechoslovak infantry man of the 1990’s and i need some help i have noticed on these two belts (that are original)
Have two different lengths,colour and the amount of holes in them i know the bottom one is from around the 1990’s since its my fathers
And the top one is from my dads sisters son and im thinking maybe he served a while after my dad so i was thinking the production of belts maybe changed or he had a different role that required a shorter belt ? Im really stuck on this so help would be appreciated.

I was a member of the medical reenactment community on vrchat for a little while before my groups both were shut down, one I led was shutdown because of management disagreements and the other I was kicked cus my freind said something dumb and they shutdown shortly after. I wanna start one up and I just want some ideas. Im interested in the byzantines, the anglo saxons, and vikings. Im sorry if this is not an acceptable post, I just want some opinions on what I should do next.

My friend is interested in starting a ww2 USGI impression in our group, the problem is she is extremely tiny and noone has boots that are even close to fitting her. she is a US size 5.5-6 in womens (size 4 mens) and nowhere is selling anything close to that small.

I've thought about doing the custom boot orders from pakistan because that seems to be the only option I can find unless someone has any other ideas.

I took part in a historical reenactment of Urartu against the backdrop of Karmir Blur—the last citadel of the Kingdom of Urartu, named after the pagan god of war and thunder. It was destroyed before the Common Era by nomadic raids of the Scythians and Cimmerians. Later, the remnants of the Urartian people mixed with Indo-Europeans and adopted the Proto-Armenian language. ​A team of reenactors, archaeologists, and professors is building a wall using ancient techniques. The blocks were crafted at the university in consultation with UNESCO. We had a division of labor: my team extracted and crushed clay, others mixed it into mortar, and the guys hauled slabs weighing 60 kg each. 14 layers have already been completed, and the structure will likely last for several decades. For me, as a member of the diaspora, living through a piece of my ancestors' experience was deeply meaningful.

I'm not looking at physically fighting in them, purely to show the authentic wears, I just care if they are decent fabric etc
