This frightened stray was extremely difficult to rescue. I had no proper trapping equipment, and he was so terrified of humans that catching him took a great deal of effort.

He is finally safe with me, but unfortunately he is in poor condition. He has severe diarrhea, severe dehydration, nasal discharge, and signs of nutritional deficiencies. He is also extremely frightened and stressed.

He needs a veterinary examination as soon as possible to determine what is wrong and begin appropriate treatment.

I know getting him to the vet will be challenging because of his fear, but I will do everything I can to get him the care he needs.

If you’ve noticed I’ve been almost completely absent from Reddit lately, there’s a reason.

I’ve been working 60+ hour weeks for almost two months, and I recently moved into the leadership position at work that I’d been working toward. Between that and everything else, I simply haven’t had the time to be here helping our rescue the way I normally do.

For the first time in almost two months, I have a couple of normal 8 hour workdays.

A few days ago, our Executive Director posted about the veterinary bill we were desperately trying to get paid. You guys helped chip away at it, but we still need help getting it behind us... and, more importantly, getting Kittens In The Mitten a little breathing room so the next vet visit doesn’t immediately put us right back in the same position.

Today is Snorlax’s 4th birthday. And instead of just celebrating him, I’m hoping I can afford the care he still needs.

For more than a month, he has been very sick. He is still having loose stools, still needs medication, and his appetite is unpredictable. Some days he will not eat on his own, so I keep offering food from my hand, hoping he will take a few bites. Sometimes he does. Sometimes he turns away.

We have already gone through multiple blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, fecal testing, medications, emergency hospitalization, gastrointestinal panel, and repeated veterinary visits. I have attached several of his bills for transparency.

My veterinarian also consulted with an internal medicine specialist and the concern now is a large cell lymphoma. Snorlax finished his prednisolone taper yesterday, so we now have to wait about two weeks before the next major step, an exploratory surgery and biopsy. Since his appetite is still unreliable, a feeding tube may also become necessary if he continues to struggle to eat enough on his own.

I am trying to raise enough to help cover some of the bills we have already accumulated and the cost of this upcoming surgery.

I posted about Snorlax before, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared, commented or helped his post reach more people. But we are still very far from our goal.

Hi everyone. We’re out of food and need help feeding the more than 70 cats at our rescue, as well as the strays we care for. Right now, we have $1,550 in unpaid expenses (food, veterinary costs, transportation, and litter), so we really can’t afford to buy more food without support.

Unfortunately, wishlists don’t work here in Uruguay due to customs restrictions, so we can’t rely on support from people who only donate that way. This makes it extremely difficult to keep buying food week after week.

We’re also still trying to get the female cats who have been waiting for their turn for several weeks spayed. There are still three left, and we need to get them spayed as soon as possible. Each surgery costs $100.

I am posting a wishlist so that I can revamp the garage and backyard for the outside colony.  Yes, they are being TNRed through Kim via Triple R Rescue and through Naws Mokena. My money has been going to pay for some of these appointments and to soon be getting the kittens fixed.  I am creating an oasis for them in my backyard so they they are safe, fed, and cared for.  People can be mean to animals and wildlife out here, so I have done everything in my power that they know, this is sanctuary.   Anything off of either list would be a huge help and would be greatly appreciated.  Of course food is ALWAYS a huge help. 💔 I got a heartbreaking message from my rescue today.

She told me that she may have to send 8 kitties to a shelter because she has no resources, no available foster homes, and no other rescues able to take them.She was sad and heartbroken .

Our rescue is drowning right now. Every foster is already caring for 10+ cats, and we are struggling with both space and resources. Other rescues are overwhelmed and full too.

I know my Amazon and Walmart wishlists probably look extreme. I want to say right away that I do NOT expect anyone to buy everything on them. I keep different foods, litter, kitten supplies, carriers, cleaning supplies, and other necessities listed because the needs change constantly. I am truly grateful for ANYTHING that is sent.
I also want to say how incredibly blessed I feel by the support I have already received from people in this community. Some of you have helped me more than once, shared my posts, sent food, or simply encouraged me to keep going. I don’t take any of it for granted.
Cat rescue has become a huge part of my life. I work around 50 hours a week for very little money, and outside of work I spend so much of my time feeding community cats, trapping for TNR, transporting cats, taking sick or injured cats to the vet, helping with kittens, finding fosters and homes, and helping other people in my community who are trying to care for cats they cannot afford.
We have very little help in my area of Somerset Kentucky, I am working on getting my 501(c)(3) established because I want to build something that can continue helping these cats long-term.
TNR alone requires us to travel long distances because affordable services aren’t available close to us. I have made trips to Lexington and Bowling Green, both around 1 hour and 45 minutes each way, and even Cincinnati when necessary. In August alone, we were able to get 15 community cats fixed, and we already have more scheduled.
Then there are the emergencies that never seem to stop. Sick kittens. Injured cats. Testing. Medications. Follow-up appointments. Cats needing dental care. Cats dumped outside with nowhere else to go. I have raised money toward many of these vet bills, but I have also covered a lot of the expenses myself when donations weren’t enough because sometimes there simply isn’t time to wait.
Food is honestly one of my biggest worries. Without the cat food donations I receive, I genuinely don’t know how I would keep all of these community cats fed. There are too many depending on me every single day.

A young, pregnant cat named Mika recently showed up in our colony and we need to get her spayed as soon as possible before she gives birth. The cost for the surgery is $60. Leo went back to the vet and had more testing done because his diarrhea has been going on for months. Because of his problem, I go through so many supplies every day — puppy pads, paper towels, cleaning products, wipes, laundry detergent, litter, and everything needed to constantly clean and sanitize after him. It adds up quickly on top of all his vet expenses.

I also wanted to update everyone on Lucky, the older feral cat I rescued after finding him struggling near a dumpster. When I found him, I immediately noticed something was wrong with his eyes. He was extremely scared and feral, but I couldn’t leave him there.

Lucky was taken to the vet, where he was neutered, vaccinated, and tested. Unfortunately, he tested positive for both FIV and FeLV and also had entropion, where his eyelids were turning inward and his eyelashes were rubbing against his eyes. He needed surgery to correct it. Thankfully, he got it and it’s recovering.

Because Lucky is older, very feral, and FIV/FeLV positive, finding a safe placement for him has been extremely difficult. Thankfully, a sanctuary in Pine Island has agreed to take him. ❤️ I will personally transport Lucky there and I am raising funds for his sanctuary intake fee, transportation, and remaining expenses.

And while caring for Leo and Lucky, I’m still feeding 50+ community cats every single day and continuing TNR. The amount of food I go through is enormous.

San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is a high kill high volume operation. It is located in the largest county in the US. SBC is located in Southern California where the overpopulation crisis is raging. During kitten season new babies are turned in daily, sometimes 30 or more a day! People just don’t s/n in SBC! So we must keep up with the demand. Many cats brought in are sick injured confiscated or abandoned as well. The shelter does not offer much more than basic treatment for sick/injured cats either so they must exit quickly by rescue or they are listed for euthanasia with a fast deadline depending on the ability to care for them. We do have amazing volunteers though that give us first hand information updates photos videos and almost instant feedback. Please help us by pledging and donating when we post and rescue. Thank you.

Appointments are needed for rescues Sokka, Soot, and Jack.

Sokka is a senior TNR and was a part of a small colony at our last residence. We could not leave the ones that were no longer feral during our efforts and is now a senior resident of our rescue. He has been adapting well to indoor life. Sokka is experiencing discharge from his eyes and nose and is sneezing. We need to take him in and get some medications to treat before symptoms worsen. If hes healthy enough, we will need to update his shots while in.

Soot is a foster who is currently available for adoption. Soot has feline asthma and is due for a recheck and will need a new prescription for his inhaler. Soot is also needing to het shots while in. We are hoping to get him seen as soon as possible.

Jack is a senior resident who has been getting treatment for glaucoma. We are experiencing some disagreements with the vets office he was initially seen at and would like a second opinion to advocate for the best care. We need to take him to not only have the second opinion but he is also due for his standard re-check.

We are only able to help these babies with the help of donations. We are also fundraising for a catio as well as our general Amazon wishlist items for those in our care.
