Made my wings in her wedding colors instead of the original colors in the photo. AI image inspiration photo at the end. I have some hair combs ordered to attach them to. I fear this may end up being the trickiest part.

Formed the shapes/sections with jewelry wrapping wire, mica powder mixed with UV resin for infill, only poured 2 layers to keep transparency. First layer was a very thin clear layer to secure all the wire in place, followed by the colored resin.

I have no prior experience in preserving insects (apart from simply pinning them) nor using resin in general, but my pet mantis is getting closer to the end stage of his life and I decided to preserve him in resin so that he lasts longer, and I want to get ready.

I've been doing some research on insect preserving, but only a few had instructions on encasing specifically praying mantids in resin. I'm curious, if anyone here has experience in preserving insects/mantises, do I have to take everything out of the abdomen to prevent moisture? or is just pinning/drying before encasing, enough? What resin should I use? How do I prevent molding/air bubbles/etc?

Not even sure if this is the right place to be asking this as I'm so new to the field... Maybe the r/Taxidermy or r/mantids would've been a better place to ask?

Hi. I have a small snail that people love, but the back antenna (the taller of the two) doesn't like to come out right because tiny bubbles get in there. I squeeze the mold for bubbles, I pour slowly, sometimes I use a tiny toothpick to poke around and push the resin in, but this still happens more often than not. How can I fix them after I take them out of the mold?

I can use UV resin if just the top piece is broken, but if the entire thing doesn't come out, I'm at a loss.

Hello, I was putting a flood coat on my table and this is my first time with resin. After 20 mins I saw the resin was settling and I knew then I didn’t put enough down, I rushed to make more to put it down, now I have lines where I poured. Do I just add another topcoat? I really don’t feel comfortable to sand it down, I feel I’ll ruin it since the coat is so thin. Thank you!

During Covid I went nuts with resin and made hundreds of ghosts, ducks, little cats, flowers, etc. I was selling it all through a store a friend owns and kind of got busy, then eventually forgot about this box.

I’m moving. I make MUCH better things now and I’ve gotten much more skilled. I just found all of these while packing and they remind me of how it felt to learn something all on my own. I went to send pics to sell and couldn’t hit send. Am I crazy? I don’t even know where I would keep all of this stuff but the idea of even having them in a box in my new house sounds comforting.

Has anyone run into a similar situation? What did you do?

Hi everyone! I’m making jewellery pieces using stainless steel bezels filled with 2:1 epoxy resin and black gel pigment.

I’m getting this strange dirty-looking swirl/marbled pattern on the surface of the black resin once it cures, as shown in the photo.

The piece has a small NFC chip/sticker attached to the inside of the stainless steel bezel, and the epoxy is poured over it.

I’m wondering if the NFC sticker could be causing this somehow.

• Could the NFC sticker adhesive, antenna, or backing material be affecting the epoxy?
• Could this be a wetting/fish-eye/surface contamination issue?
• Could the uneven surface of the NFC sticker be causing the resin to flow differently?
• Would applying a thin layer of clear epoxy over the NFC sticker first, letting it partially cure, and then adding the black epoxy help prevent this?
• Is there anything else I should do to get a smooth, uniform black finish?

I'd really appreciate any advice on what might be causing this and how to prevent it.

A)Do I need to use a UV lamp, and if so, can I use an uv nail lamp?

B)What kind of paint can I use to keep the color in the glass?

C)What can I do to reduce bubbles?

The holders for the coasters . It’s my new favorite thing. My coasters didn’t turn out so great but I’m having fun with the molds for sure , the gold leaf and clear in the legs so the colors can drip down creating that upside down lava lamp effect . It’s beautiful. My favorite flower coaster mold is too big for any holders that I have . I want to keep doing blooms but I’ve tried them in the smaller coaster shapes and it’s just not the same , or maybe it’s just me , who knows . I made the perfect bloom and then made like 3 sets of fails afterwards 😆 it’s so incredibly addicting but I need to start making wins instead of fails , I’m happy with the holders and the blue and pink with gold in the center , but the blooms an td the purple ones and maybe ones just aren’t right … going to keep at it

Hi guys, i have a project with Resin and my trials before going to the end piece isn't working out.

Simply I pour and pop bubbles till 50 mins, it looked really good and promising. Next I checked 2 days later and I was disappointed.

When i had a peek at 40 hours I see small dots.

I made a box with cling wrap lining is to prevent airborne particles or dust

Temperature indoors 19c

I've tried to photograph or make a video but my camera won't pick it up.

I'm using the Art ❤️ Resin brand btw

I did scuff up the surface before pouring the Resin (400grit) (400+1200 grit) turned out best. I removed the dust before pouring the Resin, and the green rattle can paint i used was not glossy

Hi! I'm new to UV resin and making small pendants with metal bezels and miniature artwork.

I've had a problem with bubbles forming inside the cured resin dome. What's confusing me is that there were no visible bubbles before curing, but while the resin was under the UV lamp, bubbles seemed to form by themselves and became trapped inside the dome.

The resin is now fully cured and the bubbles are underneath the surface. Is there a way to fix/remove these bubbles without damaging the artwork underneath?

I'm considering getting a small sanding tool to carefully open up the bubble and then fill the area with fresh UV resin. Would that work, or is there a better way to repair it?

More importantly, how can I prevent this from happening in the first place? Since the bubbles weren't visible before curing, I'm wondering what could be causing them to appear during curing.

I'm using UV resin in thin layers and curing each layer under a 365 + 405 nm UV/LED lamp.

Any advice would be really appreciated! I'm trying to figure out my technique before making more pieces. 😭

I started getting into making resin art and wanted to try my hand at trays and the first one I did was this. Wanted to get other fans feedback… it’s a layered pour to give it a 3d effect and to look like the ship is in space… eventually I want to get good enough to sell these types of fan art trays…
