Prospective/new student help Early Entry

Hey
Does RMIT do a non ATAR based early entry? If so how do I apply?
Thanks :)

Other Does your ATAR matter at all when it comes to getting girls?

I got a pretty average ATAR, and I thought people would bring it up at uni but no one really has. I really like this girl, but I’m nervous about talking to her because of my ATAR. My GPA is pretty good now, but it still bothers me.

Advice needed Charged $100 without informing fees?

Thumbnail gallery
44 Upvotes

My friend has been extremely sick recently and I urged him to see the RMIT GPs as he is a student and would get it claimed back on his insurance. I was really worried about his health

They didn’t inform him of the $100 charge and made him pay it at the end of his appointment.

The thing is, he’s struggling a lot financially and with his mental health and now with his physical health. They should’ve told him prior to the appointment that there would be a fee. I’m wondering if there’s anything that can be done.

I’m really tight on money too at the moment or I would’ve helped him out. I feel like it’s awful that they put him in for a private slot without informing him of the fee and it’s not a small amount either. $100.

Please help out, if anyone knows if anything can be done.

Advice needed What happens if you don't pay SSAF by the census date?

Post image
28 Upvotes

There's only a couple hours left until the census date finishes and for some reason I'm getting this on Enrolment online (Only on Account details/pay fees section).

I already have HECS for the course fees but it's not letting me pay student amenity fees.

Has this happend to anyone else and what can I do? What usually happens if you don't pay the fee by the due date and what would happen in this specific case?

Advice needed Special consideration after extension (and ELP)

Hello, for my two assignments I applied for an extension. However, I only requested for seven days. I’m registered with ELP and was diagnosed with F41.3 Other mixed anxiety disorders.

At 10pm Friday, I asked about how extensions work and they replied with a template. Then, I asked my advisor if I can ask for 7-10 days at 5:30pm. They asked me what is the situation for asking 10 days a minute after but I had to go. Later, I said I don’t want the same back-to-back deadlines similar to the original due dates and that I wanted more time to ask my teachers as I’m behind—replying at 6pm so it is technically out of their work time, and I understand it is my fault and regret not asking earlier, but I took the no response as rejection and only asked for 7 days, even though I had a feeling I won’t make it as a group assignment, in which we struggled quite a bit, was due that week as well and I got way to nervous about trying to negotiate.

Fast forward to now, I’m still not done with my assignments and it’s about 12 hours after the extended deadline. Should I apply for special consideration using my previous diagnosis used for ELP or something—as well as detail the above? I also had food poisoning too but have no evidence of that. The weeks have been stressful. It’s also a national holiday (I’m in Vietnam) so I can’t really ask teachers/advisors for help. What should I do?

Advice needed Diploma of building and Construction

G'day Everyone

I've been looking to start this diploma part time as I am working full time as an electrical apprentice and want to up skill at the same time I get my A grade license and I was looking at part time

Has anyone done this before I know the part time classes are online 5:30-9:30 is attendance mandatory I'm sure the practicals are but for the online classes are they mandatory or is doing the work in your own time enough

I ask rmit support they were pretty vague

I'd just rather do 2 classes or one a week on top of full time work

And they said yea but they didn't specifically say one class a week just that classes run Monday to Thursday

Anyone else done it online?

Advice needed PhD Application, Project Field on the form

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm going to apply PhD (Economics, Finance & Marketing) program. However, for the EOI form, there are 2 sections which are so confused.

I have my personal proposal ready and looking for normal RTP Scholarship which means not be funded by any project. Though without any "*" following the project dropdown list, but the text on the top is so confused.

They said, "As the program you are applying for has projects available you must apply to conduct your research through one of these projects. Please select up to three projects available for the program you have selected. Only select projects once you have read about them on the University's website"?? And more confused is the file dropping filed, it even with a "*" but obviously my program sits in College of Business and Law, so it means that box should be N/A for my application???

Could I just ignore the 2 projects part completely and, just go ahead to upload my own proporsal below?

Thank you.

Advice needed Unsure if i should transfer majors or not

Hey guys, i’m currently enrolled in the bachelors of commerce, however due to the lack of job security and the overwhelming theme of people claiming it to be redundant, i’m really really keen towards making a pivot. I’m sort of tossing up between a few majors, mainly thinking of doubling up
Commerce/law - 5 years in total however i enjoy business law as a subject and it in turn has helped me achieve a fondness of the law now, although i do know it’s a bit too little knowledge and time to find out if i truly do enjoy it enough to add on 2 years.
Accounting/commerce - 4 years and i feel like it’d keep me on a safe path where i’m able to get a job and may have the best security in that aspect however not sure if i would enjoy it very much although i do enjoy commerce as of current.
Finally, Engineering, i’d say im good and enjoy math however i think i’d have to start entirely from scratch as a first year and that’s pretty scary to me. that’s about the only thing stopping me from going to engineering aswell as the workload i’ve heard about.

Other Looking for Crew & Creatives for a Student Fashion Film

Hey everyone! I’m a Fashion Design student at RMIT currently putting together a short fashion film and I’m looking for creatives who’d love to collaborate and have something cool to add to their portfolio/showreel.

I’m currently looking for:
💡 Gaffer / Lighting
🎧 Sound Designer / Music Producer
🎹 Composer / Musicians — especially piano + violin, dark/creepy vibes
🎬 Editor
📸 BTS Photographer
🕺 Choreographer
🎥 Anyone else interested in film production!

Production is planned for late September / early October in Melbourne. We’re hoping to take the finished film around the film competition circuit.

This is a collaboration/student project, so there isn’t a large budget, but everyone involved will receive credit, footage for their portfolio/showreel, and free food on the production day.
If you’re interested or want more info, DM me on Instagram: @melissa_fehring 📩
Would love to hear from anyone interested!

Other Sinusitis - will doctor give me a doctor's certificate?

I think I have sinusitis based on what my people around tell me and the symptoms line up. I want to get a doc cert to give my teachers, but also I don't want to spend $100 on a doctor's appointment to find out that they won't give me one because it's not worthy of one (not because I don't have sinusitis), or that my teacher's won't accept it because sinusitis is not a good enough reason.

Anyone have advice?

Student life and clubs Interest in a Dante Alighieri society?

Hey all I’m looking at starting a fan club for the poet Dante Alighieri. Specially to discuss his works and any new developments in research. I’m personally a great admirer of his work, but you do need a certain amount of interest to start a club so I’m trying to gauge a level of interest. I know LORE exists, but tbh most people these days don’t even read poetry, let alone the divine comedy.

Advice needed Can I apply for a special consideration late?

Basically I submitted an assignment 3 days late (which is a -30%), mainly due to mental health difficulties (ADHD) and other life circumstances. I can definitely handle the -30%, but i'd rather not and I was wondering if I am able to apply for special consideration AFTER submitting an assignment late?

I do not have an ELP or anything (waiting for the appointment), and I cannot make an appointment with my actual psychiatrist for a very long time. But I am able to go to my GP within 5 working days of the due date. Would a medical certificate from my GP be enough documentation for applying for special consideration? Or do I need actual documentation of my diagnosis from my psychiatrist? And would having the medical certificate written 5 days later still be valid? (Given that it is a chronic condition.)

Thank you!

Other Looking for survey respondents for an RMIT assignment

Hi! I'm an RMIT University student studying a Bachelor of Fashion Enterprise, and I'm conducting a short study (1-2 mins) on activewear purchasing behaviour. It's optional and completely anonymous, and won't be published anywhere as it's purely for a class assignment. If you enjoy physical activity or purchasing athletic and athleisurewear, I'd love your input! Link is below:

Other rmitOS - free study planner (? idek tbh)

Post image

icl this is definitely a me problem but i was too lazy to relog onto canvas every single time to check if i had missed an assignment or something and then navigating the menus and shit was too much work for me to find out what it actually was so i js didnt lol and then id miss hella submissions and lose out on free marks.

im a comp sci student and i realised i could js build that shit so i made rmitOS - it basically js pulled my canvas calendar and allocate+ timetable and put everything in one place so i didnt need to keep relogging. like theres an automatic grade calculator and stuff too (some stuff is broken which you can fix manually, but hey im just one lazy ass guy lol) but it tells you how much you need to score to get a pass/credit/distinction/high distinction whatever. I also put a tampermonkey script to like have it update automatically but i got 0 clue if it works (since i couldnt test it - all my classes came out at once), you could download it and if it does hey thats cool and if it doesnt well its not gonna break your computer or hack you lol.

one of my friends told me they wanted something like this so i figured why not js release it for other people if they want / find it useful so here you go (links in the comments because of reddit filters brah - [rmitos . pages. dev] if you remove spaces tho)

id probably add more features in the future since im relaxing on break rn so maybe if i get bored or something

[if it breaks or you have a feature suggestion js dm me lol]

Course (subject) advice, recommendations and reviews Question about the Animation and interactive media Course

So I’m currently a yr12 student near the end of high school and starting to apply for university in the animation area(2027). I’m in the process of applying to Griffith Uni for their bachelor of animation but also considering applying for RMIT too.

I have a few questions regarding how difficult it is to get in, how high does my artistic skills need to be and what does the program mainly focus on/teach.
RMIT is ALOT further away from me considering I live out in the middle of nowhere but if the program is better then Griffith, I don’t mind moving into another state for it.
