As a staff member myself, this is incredibly exciting. Before this point, we didn’t even get to ride the Park & Ride buses for free. I know that previous UMR attempts to request even just discounted rides were swiftly rejected, so this was very out of the blue news to see in my inbox this morning!

I can’t wait to ride the bus more frequently, especially with colder temps coming. And with our rapidly growing student body (we have another record-breaking incoming class), having affordable access to public transportation is crucial to cut down on the number of parking spots needed. I hope that they extend this free bus service to other organizations like RCTC, too. Students deserve it! Yay!!

I'm getting reports from my friends about a ton of emergency response vehicles (police, fire, and ambulance) around 52. They seem to be blocking the road really bad. Anyone have more info on the incident/eta of cleanup?

His name is Tobuscus. He’s a good cat. I just have a 1-bedroom apartment and 2 cats, so I don’t have enough space for both of them. He has updated shots and is neutered. He was born on August 1st, 2024, so he’s a little over 2 years old.

Context: The December resolution cited $1,523,001 of the $141.7 million levy going to support public libraries, and that amount was mistakenly added on top of the overall levy when it was sent to the Department of Revenue for computing individual assessments.

The resolution’s wording was apparently ambiguous enough to invite the mistake. The review email skipped people who should have seen it. The cross-check didn’t catch it. The final proofing also didn’t catch it.

KTTC did a records request for internal emails related to the overstated levy. Seemingly harmless: work emails were blacked out when they aren’t supposed to be. Curious but apparently justifiable: three pages of an email were fully redacted due to being protected under county attorney data after a single sentence: “Looks like everything will be just fine.” This email was sent a day after the overstated levy mistake had been internally discovered, and about two weeks before the error was publicly announced.

I’m 16 and got my permit recently, and i JUST drove in a car a few hours ago TODAY. i found it really fun so we went again, but both times followed only a certain block in a small down south of Roch. so now my mom and i are looking for some places in town where i can practice driving before i feel safe enough to get on the road with traffic and such. so mostly empty roads, parking lots, etc? i’ve only seen one other post about this on this subreddit from 3 years ago and wrote down what i could from there but was looking for updated ideas

Coming back to Rochester for class reunion in a few weeks... I'm interested in trying some of the bike trails like Gameheaven while in town. Do any of the bike shops have e-mountain bikes for rent/demo/loan ?
