I went looking for this fic and instead found this fic, where Harry takes veritaserum and confesses to Snape that his family beats him and he’s a submissive Veela. They turn out to both be veelas and they have a baby named James. (You’re welcom)

Manacled, I never read you and I don't ever plan to. You came out after my years of Harry Potter fanfic obsession, and from all accounts I did not miss much. But I will miss the drama, the debate, and the snark of you rabid lovers and haters. RIP Manacled. *sheds a tear*.

Okay so this fanlore article on CC is a helpful short(er) summary of a lot of stuff, there is so so so much drama around this woman (though I will make a personal sidenote that even though it says the Draco trilogy is H/Hr, it has a significant about of Dramione baiting and love triangle, totally a precursor to modern romantasy lmao; this is the originator of the Draco in leather pants trope in HP).
The Laptopgate wank also has a solid write-up on fanlore, and the plagiarism debacle (regarding plagiarism in her fanfic) is another worthwhile read. But, again, this is a LOT of material to read.

Goodbye Manacled. Every time I read about how you ‘changed [someone’s] brain chemistry’, I lose a little bit more faith that average literacy, critical thinking, general intelligence and appreciation for good smut are at the level I had previously benchmarked them. Manacled, I preordered your new, sacrilegious version mistaking you for a popular HP fanfic I read when I was 14 that I should not have been reading at that age. I'm nearly 30 now, with a lit degree, and not into HP so I'll be returning the book for the special edition of {Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones}, which I didn't know existed until I went to Barnes and Noble to see if I could cancel the preorder. I literally just finished manacled today after finding out it was available on amazon. I am. Devastated. Were there a lot of typos? Sure. But I read it in the context of what it was—an online unedited fan fic.
I LOVED it. I am in mourning. I’m wrecked. I will not recover.
I plan to start alchemized tonight. My heart did not survive this war, but I cannot leave it.

Your flashbacks were oddly timed and overly long, but you were an opus to one woman's resistance to fascism (and dark magic) in a time when those things were rising IRL in countries across the globe.
There were entire swaths of readers who did not understand the author's intent behind the use of, "She did not fight."
