he is doing good exception he doesn’t lay in his dog beds. Rather being on hard ground. How can I help him to learn to sleep in his bed at age of 5?

Why does he choose to sleep there of all places?

He has a dog bed, couch , and human bed to choose from . He chooses his crate that he is shut in 20 min twice day while eating . Why? I put some blankets in there as cushion and he drags them out. (He was rescued from a place he spent his life in a crate so that might explain his preference? ) when the way to his crate is intentionally blocked to encourage him to use something comfortable he stays up till morning. Has anyone tried making a bigger box for around their bed to see if their dog liked it (the cage is a 52" idk where to find bigger so ill have to build )He is a fan of my daughter's pillow forts.

Puppy on the car

My puppy girl is always happy to jump in the car, she does it when I open the door and stays quiet and since for all the drive!

I was expecting that I should bring along the kennel or some special barrier but she's very nice!

Angry pooper?

Post image

Maggie is 8/9 months and very bonded to me. I had an episode 10 days ago, and an ambulance was called. First, ER then hospital. I was in 3 days. Maggie sleeps with me, and she is completely housebroken. First night I came home I put up the gate so I could get rest without her spooning me😉 SHE POOPED IN THE HOUSE TWICE! Honest question: Is this angry or something else? Thanks yall💖

Edit...she is in the middle of her first heat.

Recommendations for flea and tick prevention

Post image
16 Upvotes

I'm looking for people who live in areas with an over abundance of fleas and ticks. We're in Arkansas so yeah, it's intense. Sherman is 16 weeks and the vet previously had him on simparica. However, it made him drool excessively so we are not taking that again. Our vet recommended the Seresto collar, at least until he's an adult. I'm wondering if anyone here has used it, had success, loved it, hated it...etc.

Yes I know I'll need to do something else for heartworm prevention. Pic of Sir Fuzzy Butt just because. Forgive the bags under my eyes. It was 545 and apparently someone was ready to start the day. Not me.

TIA

Nanny Dog

Francis Eugene is the resident garbage and recycle overseer. He takes plastic and cardboard to the recycling box, and when his baby brother arrived 10 months ago, he began taking on dirty diapers, and dumps them in the diaper baggy by the front door, because we just take those out at every opportunity.

Jobs for these dogs can be that easy. And he just loves it. The command was in Korean, btw.

Bear and Hank have both toped 120lbs. I got lucky for a bit only Hank was a beast topping in at 134lbs. Bear always stayed under 100. Then he decided one more growth spurt before he was done growing and he jumped up to 124. They are almost three I love these boys more then life it'sself. The best two boys a girl could ask for.

Hi there subreddit. I went to the dog shelter and fell in love with a dog named tank who fortunately found a home. Just unfortunately not with me. I really liked him and his colors and wanted to know if maybe he was mixed with another breed. He is mostly black which I found super cool. If he is mixed with another breed please let me know!

Normal and valid or crash out?

Upvotes

I'm having a slight menty b and I need some insight as to whether this is normal or frankly if I should be concerned. B is almost 3, intact. Been dog reactive since he was badly attacked at about 1.5yrs old but doing MUCH better on the dog front with a new trainer and consistency. For context, we are in the UK and it has been unbelievably hot, so he has gone from 1-2hrs walk a day + 1~ hour brain games/ training/ play, to a 30 min swim 3ish times a week and maybe 20 mins training a day (seriously too warm to live, he would be huffing after 5 mins moving around) and he was content to sleep all day.

Since the temps have cooled I've started taking him out again. He's always on the whole been fine with people, obviously he is guardy and there are some people hes suspicious of, but on the whole if I say they are ok he is fine. Even when he hated my friend he growled as a warning then moved away, they then made friends through playing.

In the span of 2 weeks, he has now barked and lunged for 2 people. He said hi to both of them first really nice, then the first person (he has met 4~ times before) started 'playing rough' and smooshing his face. He lost it and sounded like a demon. Calmed him and 2 mins later they were both calm he said hi again and was fine. Weird but the guy had sunglasses on that i thought might be the cause? Idk.

Anyway, que last Sat. Go out with the training group, one of the guys comes up after and asks if he can say hi. B kind of fixates on him (as he is a male coming up to us) but I step in front of him and talk to the guy, then let B go say hi and they have a nice greeting. Other trainer comes over, and as we're chatting B is bouncing around. The guy he initially said hi to then starts growling and like mock playing? But like, using his hands to like smush Bs face and is like growling and looking at him. B again loses his shit. Lunging, went to nip his hand (which is still out towards him) but didnt make contact (even though he could have) barking sounds like a demon. Pull him back calm him down. The trainer tells the man off and says basso B never met him and felt very threatened by direct eye contact and growling, and it is a reasonable reaction from B and completed the guys fault.

B calms and lays next to us and we talk for another 10 mins then leave. The trainer specifically told me it is a reasonable reaction for his breed, the guy was an idiot basically and it was all his fault, B acted appropriately, and to not worry about.

However, I am worried about it. I'm having a crash out. Ik it's not normal for a grown man to growl at a dog (is it? Idek) but like we have people over a reasonable amount, my partners friends, my friends, hes always been fine with them but I'm now so in my head about it that he is going to randomly launch at someone even tho both of these occasions he didn't start it and felt very threatened.

A. Does any of this make sense?

B. Thank you for reading.

C. Do I need stricter management?

D. Overall should I be very worried/ please tell me if this is normal/ reasonable?

Thank you 🙏

We, as in both Tonka and I were enjoying a lovely Bank Holiday Monday nap this afternoon.
Suddenly, I hear him cry in pain! Or so I thought. He must have rolled onto his squeaky ball bottle toy. Woke us both up in fright 😂 I’m not sure which of us was more alarmed him or me.

Has anyone had a Rottweiler pup refusing to leave your side? Like not wanting to even go potty with my other dogs. Got me nervous. Does he know something I don’t. He’s such a toot.
