So, there’s actually a lot I want to talk about. It’s about SB19.
Honestly, I have to say this—SB19 was amazing!
They were absolutely incredible.
They’re known as the number one boy group in the Philippines, basically a national idol group, and I really, really love them. At first, when I heard that we were going to collaborate, I was honestly a little nervous and wasn’t sure how things would turn out.
But first of all, every single member has such a great personality!
Pablo and I really connected because we both love anime culture. He likes Yu-Gi-Oh! too, and when I mentioned Yu-Gi-Oh!, he actually knew my Blue-Eyes White Dragon by name. Then Josh jumped into the conversation and said, “Blue-Eyes White Dragon is my favorite too!”
We also talked about things like Voltes V, which was really popular in both Japan and the Philippines. There were so many things we could relate to through Japanese and Filipino pop culture. I really hope everyone in Unity gets to know the members better because they’re such interesting and wonderful people.
And of course, when you talk about SB19, you have to talk about one of their signature songs, “GENTO.”
Performing “GENTO” with them on the Pacific Stage at Summer Sonic was honestly incredible.
I haven’t been that nervous in a long time. I was seriously nervous. I was scared, too.
Looking back now, I’m like,
“Why couldn’t I have just been a little more relaxed?” I really wish I had been calmer and more composed.
I was so nervous at the beginning, and you could really feel it.
But once we got into the middle of the performance, especially when my rap part came in, I gradually started getting back into my usual rhythm and feeling like myself again.
It had been such a long time since I’d been that nervous on stage. It was such an incredible experience that I honestly want to perform “GENTO” properly with the SB19 members again—whether it’s here in Japan, in the Philippines, or even on television. I’d really love to do it again.
And Pablo was hilarious, too.
The Japanese phrases he learned were just way too funny.
There was one thing he learned that I probably can’t say on air, though.
The moment Stell heard him say it, Stell was like, “No, no, you shouldn’t say something like that!”
And I was also like, “Pablo, no, you can’t say that!”
And Pablo was just like, “Oh, I can’t?” with this mischievous little smile.
But seriously, SB19 was amazing.
From the rehearsals alone, they were absolutely committed. There wasn’t a single member who was slacking off. I loved that.
It was such a great discovery for me—to experience a rehearsal environment where literally everyone was giving it their all. I was thinking, “Wow, nobody is holding back at all.”
I also rehearsed with the performers for two days, and on the first day, everyone was so passionate but also incredibly kind. They taught us the choreography and really welcomed us.
I brought one of our members, Solomon, and also Yume, one of our assistant dancers, with me. It became this really wonderful international exchange.
Afterward, all of us performers were saying, “It would be great if we could create that kind of atmosphere too.”
Since then, we’ve actually started following the SB19 team’s example. Before rehearsals, we always do little jumps together, rhythm training, and things like that to get everyone energized and ready.
So yeah, we were really inspired by them.
SB19 gave us such an amazing experience and such incredible motivation. It was honestly the best.
