Depending on the style youβre looking for;
polar bunny has some cute ones in a more animated style, and you can buy the shape in different packs so you can get their specific makeup (that polar bunny sells) or just the shape + style card, or even just the style card.
Lunacci is also a more animated style, and they do video tutorials alongside their style card so you know what layers to do.
-sect- is good for a middle ground of realism but still stylized.
Hex dolls is very stylized as well but their photos are heavily edited.
Opalite has body shapes for sale along with head shapes- you can use something like the dr frank combiner to mix and match them.

What body style are you trying to go for, like gender wise?

I am looking to narrow down on some good ones or find some hidden gems based on what is suggested under this post

Well, by being sorted by "Best Selling" you're effectively getting the recommendations of everyone that shops on the MP.
Here's the same results, sorted by Rating: High to Low, which gives you 'votes' based on people who came back with motivation to leave a review. Of course the people most likely to leave a review are people with something to say or complain about.

Laughs, why are you paying for something you can do yourself, I'll, make you one, find a skin you like, head. Make custom physics, just because I have done it for hundreds of folks over the years. My name is Dawn Enchantment in SL. It's all free

Sure I can do it myself, but designing an avatar is a skill and some people are better at it than others. If they spent the time to create the shape, find the right skin, makeup, eyebrows, eyes, etc. to put together a nice look, I donβt see why it would be waste to pay for it. For beginners, it is helpful to have a good base to then make tweaks if they so desire.
