On the Old School DVD volumes, there's a warning for parents that the older episodes are for nostalgia and "may not suit the needs of today's preschool children." It's pretty adamant that the DVDs are for teens/adults and not children.
I'm looking for any information on why the episodes wouldn't be "suitable" for children now. If multiple generations grew up learning from them, why are they supposedly not meant to be educational anymore? I know times change, along with teaching styles, so I guess i'm just curious about what specifically is different. If there's been any articles or studies, i'd love to see them. Thanks :)

If you watched PBS growing up, you may have heard of this show called The Woodwright’s Shopwith Roy Underhill. I remember watching it when I was younger, and for the longest time I always thought Roy Underhill was Mr. Noodle from Sesame Street. 😂 I know they’re obviously two different people, but something about his hair, mustache, and the way he looked always made me think of Mr. Noodle. Even now, whenever I see Roy Underhill, that’s the first thing I think of. 😂

Big Bird asked fans how they’re holding up at the end of a busy week that had plenty of low points. Venting ensued.
“Big Bird is just popping in to see how everyone is doing today!” the seemingly innocuous message posted to X Friday morning reads.
The “Sesame Street” star got many grim responses on the educational program’s social media feed.
“Not great Big Bird, lots of great people passing as of late, it’s been a real downer,” responded an X user under the handle Dr. Katz.
That seemed to be the general consensus. The celebrity death that got the most attention this week was that of 80-year-old singer Dolly Parton. The world mourned for the “Jolene” singer whose amazing life of music and philanthropy ended in a Tennessee hospital Tuesday.

I had the good fortune to become close friends with puppeteer Kermit Love (and his partner, Christopher) during Kermit’s last decade of life. Some of you might know them from their involvement in the original creation of Big Bird. For several years, I spent most days with Kermit, having tea, rearranging his living room after Christopher left for the day, taking him to lunch, emailing various Muppeteers, eating avocados, rearranging his living room back to its original configuration after Christopher returned home, and going through his lifelong accumulation of odds and ends from his career before and after his time spent working (and performing!) on Sesame Street. During this time, he gifted me a few things as we came across them, including this little pile of memorabilia from his early days at Sesame Street.
According to Kermit, the included drawing is the original hand-drawn schematic for the Mr. Snuffleupagus puppet, which was to have a “skeleton” built of rattan.
I just found them today while going through an old memory box and thought you might enjoy them.
(I’ll spare you the story about the time that we found a rotting Gary Gnu in a cardboard box in his studio basement…)
