Conversation Topic Advice/opinion

I am thinking about doing vocal lessons 2-3x per week for about three months and then going back down to once a week. I am making progress now but I am looking for a lot of change in a little bit of time. When I ask my teacher he says its not necessary but I really would like to improve faster and i know I need the guidance of a teacher. My goal is to try and make a career with singing. What should I do? Is doing more less9ns going to help me or I wasting money?

Improving your voice is building muscle coordination and muscle memory. Lessons more frequently is not necessary, you just need to practice the technique you are working on in lessons every day in between lessons to build upon the coordination.

I would not recommend it. Just sing more and trust your teacher.

Unless you’re training for an audition, an upcoming role, a big gig or recording I’d recommend 1 lesson per week with a singing coach is enough. Maybe some weeks an extra session for additional focused training. Any more is not the best use of your money IMO as a pro vocal coach based in Nashville. What music style are you wanting to be a pro singer?

Lessons are important, but they need to be spaced out to a continuum that basically indicates "hey, you are plateaued, time for a lesson!" ...you need to sing. Physically sing anywhere and everywhere. Pay attention to people's reactions. Pay attention to you, the best person at hearing you. Find a music soul mate that loves you, is critical, but knows how to communicate with you. I know it is sensitive. Moving forward, the #1 thing you need for yourself, in the moment of performance, is to be relaxed. That is this lesson. I don't want to hear from you again until you are relaxed. No lessons. NO complaining. Just honestly relaxed so I can hear the real you.
