I am working with this "person" for over 2 years. Unfortunately as a helper i do 90% of the work while he "fits".

And yet I'm going too slow.

Is it normal that I want to go April 26, 1986 1:23:48 on him?

And this has been happening for a numerous of times well past 10 times his verbal remarks.

You’re a helper, not a fitter. You wanna be a fitter then ask to learn how to fit, or go find an employer where you can fit.

I’m a fitter, and supervisor. I have one guy under me, he does a good amount of my grinding because he’s not a fitter, and he’s not a good enough welder for more than half of what we do. Until I’ve trained him and he’s proficient in both he can’t be left alone to do either. He’s also incredibly slow at grinding still, so that’s what he does the most, cause the only way to get better at it is to do a lot of it. That doesn’t mean I don’t let him fit or weld, that means I’m selective on timing and parts of what he gets to fit and weld.

So take that as you want, but this may just be the case for you. Or, you were hired as a helper and you shouldn’t expect to ever fit and weld.

Well actually last week I did fit a little bit, now he has decades of experience But the problem is he started to moan about I was "taking too long" when he know I don't have experience like him. See even in vo-tech unless I was running out of hours I wanted to get as close as possible to perfect. See what I have to work with him with I had to cut off wheel a 3 inch thick piece of steel because the person who welded it, it was off 1/16 of a inch so i have this in mind. When he allowed me to fit.

Yes it's normal, you should learn to roll with the punches. And talk some shit back. Not everyone will be like that, but everyone has already worked with someone like that, or will work with someone like that at some point in their career.

Unless it gets to a point of serious disrespect, or wrongful blame for serious mistakes.

Don't take criticism too seriously, and don't let it affect your mood for the rest of the day.

Their is about 75mins away but unfortunately i will fall asleep coming from the job. Unfortunately vo-tech never taught welding blueprints so a job nearer I cannot go due to not be ableb to read symbols.

two years as a helper doing 90% of the work is how you know you're ready to move, not how you know you're being wronged. either ask to be put on the tools properly or find a shop that will. the guy needling you about speed isn't going to promote you.
