I honestly think so. I personally found them entertaining. I think they fulfill the basic aspects of the slasher genre

I think the most disturbing chucky kill of all time is chucky season 3 episode 3 when he shove that umbrella inside of that taxi driver throat i saw that i was like god damn.

Movie: twisted nightmare (1987)

Maybe you picked up some random, unknown title at a thrift store and ended up loving it?

Maybe you were on some streaming service and going through the horror/slasher section and chose whatever and loved it?

My answer is 'Death Factory' (2002]. Bloody/gory kills, simple plot, and a cool looking killer all wrapped into an 80 minute film. It's very low budget, cheesy, and cliche as all hell but was a total blast. It was free on tubi here in Canada. Hopefully it's on tubi for you Americans?

I've heard people say wrong turn is the bottom of the barrel of horror franchises. I would also put silent night deadly night in that same category even though I haven't personally heard anyone say that. But if they are the bottom of the barrel then what's at the top and what's in the middle?

I made a list of the big important horror or at least slasher and slasher adjacent franchises and put them in a list. The Texas chainsaw massacre, Halloween, Friday the 13th, evil Dead, A Nightmare on elm Street, hellraiser, child's Play, and scream. Those are all the franchises I put on that list so would those eight be considered top of the barrel or did I miss some? If I were to make a list for every layer of the barrel wrong turn and silent night deadly night would be on the last list. But what about everything in between? I want to make a series of lists but I have no idea what level to put each horror franchise on so I've kind of just been doing it at random after the first list. I put Carrie on the same level as leprechaun which doesn't feel right so can someone list out every horror franchise and put them in order of the general opinion of where they should go?

Now when I say franchise it's got to be at least three films, no standalones and no films that only got one sequel. Black Christmas I put on the second list if I remember correctly and that is technically three films but they're all standalones from each other they're not connected but I still count it. But My bloody Valentine only has two movies so I'm not counting that one. Even though those are both very good horror movies.

Also excluding stuff like Frankenstein Dracula the mummy The wolfman ECT because so many different film series made by so many different film studios they would take up an entire list by themselves so anything that's public domain or public domain adjacent I'm also excluding.

So yeah I've already made three lists after the first list I was just kind of putting things on there at random without thinking of if these two franchises even belong in the same level as each other. And if I am to make a layered series of lists how many lists is this going to take before I get to the bottom where wrong turn and silent night deadly night are going to be?

edit: forgot to mention I'm also excluding zombie movies for the same reasons as Dracula and Frankenstein it's too broad of a scope it needs its own separate series of lists night of the Living Dead has so many alternate series of sequels in each of those sequels has their own sequels ​ it's ridiculous

In the first movie, M3GAN was basically a slasher albeit a robotic campy slasher. It certainly had the elements of a slasher. She wasn't evil but was an Ai-enhanced robot that was trying to fulfill it's objectives of protecting her kid too literally. There were creative kill scenes that I thought were very reminiscent of the Child's Play movies so it almost felt like an homage to Chucky in a way. It had moments of horror throughout that the sequel completely dropped.

M3GAN 2.0 on the other hand decided to lean in the storyline of Terminator 2 where M3GAN was now a hero fighting an evil robot. It went for more action and comedy and completely dropped that horror uncanny valley movie with kills.

Ultimately I was disappointed they went in this direction as I feel like a campy robotic slasher was already what this series should have been.

Maybe someday we might see some sort of resurgence but as of now I'm only a fan of that first movie.

This is my second time watching this movie, and the first time, the experience was pretty terrible. I'd rented it on VHS somewhere in the mid-to-late 80s and all I can honestly remember was that most of it was in total darkness.

The version I watched today is the 50th Anniversary restored edition, and let me tell you: the restoration is quite literally night and day. It's a general peeve of mine when directors choose darkness as 'ambiance' over storytelling, but that was never the case here.

So let's get to the movie itself.

It's a LOT funnier than I was expecting. All five of those teenagers are honest-to-gosh idiots, with Franklin being one of the most ridiculous people I've ever seen in a movie. He's cranky, he's mean-spirited, he's got a weird obsession with knives that his friends are surprisingly okay with and he throws temper tantrums when he's having a bad time.

One of the things I like to wonder about when I'm watching a movie like Texas Chainsaw Massacre is how long I'd put up with weird shit before calling it quits.

In this instance, it's incredibly likely I wouldn't even go on the trip if Franklin was present. There's no way that how he is in the movie is a new thing to anyone else. I'd rather not go if a major buzzkill like Franklin was in the car.

If for some reason Franklin was actually a sweet and reasonable fella before this and it's just the pressures of being handicapped on the road, the very next thing that'd have me quit the trip is the hitchhiker. THAT guy was very obviously completely deranged that he really should've been kicked out of the back of the van while it was still in motion, and that was BEFORE he decided to cut open his hand.

One of the more interesting things about this movie is that the world was smaller back then, so the simple act of walking up to and going inside someone else's crazy old haunted Murder Mansion probably didn't seem like a big deal. It's not the world was any less dangerous, it was that it just didn't seem that way. Need gas? I'm going to go on up and ask for some help. Wall of Mounted, Stuffed Heads and Skulls?

Even though this really is only my second time seeing it, I've seen a lot of horror movies and I'll say this about Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Obviously made on a small budget, it's clear to see why it inspired so many sequels and reboots AND why it influenced so many other horror movies.

Because it's a bloody good time. By the time Leatherface makes his terrifying appearance and things turn nasty, we're prepped and ready to be terrified and grossed out until the last frame. With Sally as The Final Girl, trapped in Backwater Nowhere, being hunted by Leatherface and trusting the absolute wrong person, we get a full, final look at the inescapability that truly would be a family of hillbilly cannibal crazies living in plain sight.

Like a lot of older horror movies, Texas Chain Saw Massacre walked so other movies could run, and that's saying a lot. Sadly, because I've seen so many horror movies, I didn't find this one terribly scary, but what I DID find it was UNSETTLING. There's a rawness to it that earns it's 8/10 from me.

For me, it’s 100 tears. It’s a beautifully shit movie but the gore is INSANE and the entertainment factor is so high. highly watchable but watch out for terrible acting, yet SEEK OUT the incredibly gross practical FX, high body count and awesome lo-fi grittiness. Also, the design of Gurdy is really cool.

I can’t help but love this film - It’s just perfect for me. Shit, but a hoot!

3 days ago I made a post asking out of the nine official main timelines which one was your favorite? And in that post I mentioned that I would make a post about what I think a perfect timeline would be in my personal opinion. And that's what I'm here to do now.

So John Carpenter says the only true definitive timeline is the newest one from 2018 because it keeps Michael closest to what he's supposed to be. From Halloween 2 and onward he has this weird family motive obsession coming after Laurie Strode because she was his sister and then Jamie because she was his niece. Then in the next time line H2O they scrapped the whole curse reason and his MO is different in that timeline instead of showing up randomly seemingly whenever a certain constellation appears in the sky, he shows up whenever a family member turns 17 so still the family motive but just working slightly differently. We're not going to talk about Rob Zombie's movies I don't even know where to start with that timeline. The 2018 timeline which is the only one John Carpenter approves of is the only one that keeps Michael the way he's supposed to be. No motive just doing things to do them he was never specifically after Laurie Strode, all he ever wants to do in every movie even when he does have the family motive is go home. The only movie that doesn't mention that is Halloween 4. In Halloween one and two before he goes after Laurie Strode the first thing he does is go home, and in Resurrection after killing her he goes home probably waiting for her son John to have a kid and for that kid to turn 17 before emerging again. In the newest timeline where they scrap the family plot point and bring him back to his roots, they keep him to what he was truly meant to be. Evil with no rhyme or reason. In the words of Lonnie, He creeps, he kills, and then he goes home.

Removing the plot point about them being siblings when it's been established for so long feels wrong and was hard to get used to for a lot of people myself included. But I understand why it was done, one John Carpenter never wanted it in the first place and two Michael Myers is not supposed to have a motive or reason so doing that goes against his whole character. So I get both sides and as much as I love the 2018 timeline Michael and Laurie will always be siblings to me just because that's the way it's been for the majority of the franchise. So how can a timeline exist that keeps them as siblings but also doesn't have Michael stray too far from what he was originally supposed to be? Well I got it.

In my hypothetical timeline. Michael Myers and Laurie Strode are siblings, but it's irrelevant to him he was never after her because she was his sister he just locked on to her by chance the fact that they happen to be siblings was a coincidence. I feel like the 2018 timeline could have worked with keeping the sibling plot and just saying it was never about the fact that they were siblings it was never even about her. All he ever wants to do is go home. They could have still had Hawkins give that speech to Laurie in the hospital about how it wasn't about her and still kept the fact that they were siblings. They didn't need to get rid of it but the reason why is because John never wanted it added in the first place so respects to him he is the creator of the whole franchise. But if I had to say I would leave them as siblings just because it's been established that their siblings for so long.

I know Jamie Lee Curtis has said that Halloween ends was the end for her as Laurie Strode but she also said the same thing about Resurrection. I know she's a lot older now so Halloween ends might really be the end because he's getting too old but she can still come back hopefully one more time for the upcoming H50 movie.

This is my idea for a timeline and here's how it goes. This new timeline starts with the first movie and ignores everything else just like 2018, although we could keep Halloween 2 and just say Michael survived and healed from his burning just like they said he did an H2O since. I'm keeping the sibling plot we could keep Halloween 2.

Michael Myers and Laurie Strode are siblings but it's irrelevant, if we do keep Halloween 2 in Canon in this hypothetical timeline then the reason why he followed her to the hospital wasn't because he was locked on to her because of the sibling connection it was just simply because he was still locked on to her from that night, but after she got away the next time he struck he didn't care to come after her but if he happened to come across her he'd be like oh it's you okay let me take care of that. But he wasn't specifically tracking her down just like he wasn't doing that in the 2018 timeline he had to be brought there in order for him to even care. Or it might be easier to just cut Halloween 2 out but still keep the sibling plot then have to somehow explain why he still followed her to the hospital if he doesn't care that's his sister. Whichever one is easier.

So in this timeline they are siblings but it's irrelevant, he's back again and he's going on another spree. And now the very old Laurie is hunting him, unlike 2018 where she spent 40 years preparing and making a trap in her house for him expecting him to come after her, and this timeline she already knows that she's irrelevant to him because unlike the 2018 timeline there wasn't just a 40-year gap of nothing, he springs up every so often and in all those times in between he's never specifically come after her, he only goes for her whenever she gets in his way so she's learned over the years that she's not special to him. But because they are related she feels like it's her responsibility to stop him because that's her brother.

So she's hunting him and he's just doing his usual he creeps he kills he goes home. It's a big epic showdown at the end where either she could decapitate him but this time it was actually him unlike H2O or she could knock him into the giant car shredder after luring him there maybe in a similar way that Karen took his mask and brought him to the jumping spot. Laurie could get his mask and get him to the junkyard where she could have a big fight and maybe with the help of someone (possibly Karen from the 2018 timeline since I really didn't like her getting killed off, or maybe she didn't have kids in this timeline and it was just someone else who helped her possibly Tommy) else knock him in there. Boom done, the end of the movie, happy ending Laurie Strode gets the perfect closure she gets at the end of Halloween ends but this time it's in a much better movie. And then Jamie Lee Curtis can actually finally step down from the Laurie Strode role for good because this would legit be the perfect ending.

And this could either be a one and done timeline where there's no more sequels afterwards. Or since I established that other stuff has happened in between 78 and now we could have prequel movies and with how big of a gap it is there's so many movies that could be squeezed in there so if Hollywood wants to keep milking this they can but because it's in between and not after it won't ruin the perfect ending it's a win-win for everyone. Or they could do a sequel using John Carpenter's original idea for Halloween 4 where Michael's Spirit manifests due to people still fearing him. Or they could do both.

So that would be my perfect time line. Either it would just be a one and done movie or if they do decide to make more it would be prequels in between the first movie in this one or it would be his ghost resurrecting probably long after Laurie Strode in Universe passes away from old age or moved on with her life and moved away. We can keep the sibling plot so fans of the other timelines will still be happy but make Michael's motives and goals have nothing to do with that so we can please John Carpenter. Everyone wins. Now if they do go with the prequels in between the first movie and this one then either we could keep Halloween 2 in continuity and say Loomis died in that fire or we could have the Loomis look alike from kills come back as well as the voice over actor. And we can have a young Jamie Lee Curtis look alike make a few cameos in these in between movies. Also if we do decide to have Laurie Strode have kids in his timeline Danielle Harris could come back as a grown up Jamie that would be awesome.

As much as I hate a lot of things about Halloween ends I do like the ending for Laurie Strode's character and how she finally got her closure and was able to move on and be happy. That's sweet that is the perfect ending for that character but I just don't like how we got there. Michael Myers should not have been defeated so easily by a refrigerator a few stabs a broken wrist double wrist slit and a throat slit. The giant car grinder I could see that actually doing the job but all that other crap demobilize him in order to get him there no that was not respectful towards Michael as a character especially Corey taking him down like it was nothing just to steal his mask. No that was no way to end Michael. So even though Jamie Lee Curtis says this was it I really hope for the new movie coming out in 2028 they do something like my idea where they bring her back one more time. 2018 could have been the perfect ending she wins Michael's defeated the end. So let's just do that and not have a sequel afterwards that undoes it. It happened with H2O and it happened in 2018. Let's not have it happen again.

What would I call this timeline? Either H50 or we could pull a 2018 and just have the movie be called Halloween again but that's kind of stupid. Maybe we'll come up with a fancy title for the movie later. The important part is the idea of how to execute it in a way that is satisfying. Also if they do go with the in between prequel movie ideas I want a whole movie shot the way the flashback scenes in Halloween kills were shot that was good can we get a whole movie of that? I want that.

TL;DR cuz I know I get a lot of comments on my posts that say they are too long. So here you go. A perfect timeline would be where they are siblings but that's not why he's after her it was irrelevant it was just a coincidence. Big epic showdown like in H2O or 2018 with a definitive end and finally her getting closure just like Halloween ends. And if they want to do sequels or prequels it can be in between the first one and this one or way after this one and he comes back as a ghost. There that's the tldr.

I haven't seen either of these but they seem like they fit the theme.

I would personally say Uncle Sam (1996), or some other B-Movies on Tubi.

• Halloween H20: Laurie decapitates Michael... I mean there's no way to come back from that one.
• Halloween Ends: Michael ceremoniously dumped into a shredding machine cut into mulchy bloody bits.
• Rob Zombie's Halloween 2: Laurie stabs him to death or the cops shoot him to death.

I like that the three Jamie Lee Curtis ones are all different from one another. And they all legit meant to kill Michael.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-6, Friday The 13th parts 1-4, Rob Zombie's Halloween movies, all Chucky movies and seasons, Scream 1-5, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 73 and 3D, Terrifier 1-3, Thanksgiving, Heart Eyes, and Happy Death Day 1 and 2.

How y'all feel about Rob? Sure the Halloween remakes were not the best, and made The Shape into hillbilly Jason Voorhees, but he also made House of a 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, he has his own unique style and where he lacks as a film maker he still tries to deliver in gore, violence, and style.
