Discussion What’s a good name for this group of fighters?
Smash has unofficially named groups like the Four Legends (Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man), the Subspace Trio (King Dedede, Ness, and Luigi), and the Captain N Reunion (Mega Man, Pit, and Simon), but I don’t know if there’s any kind of commonly used fan name that refers to the four fighting game reps in Smash. I’m curious to hear what kind of names you all come up with for them.

Character Concept Are there character moveset designs that make you irraitionally upset?
I already asked this question in a different subreddit, but I want to know this one's opinion on it.
To me, Wii Fit Trainer's design is just too damn weird. Her Specials are fine, her throws are okay, even her Smash Attacks are good, but her normals and everything else are just too weird. I get the gimmick is supposed to be she's yoga, but add a little more character behind it. She has moves that just don't make sense. If you're a WFT enthusiast, you may be able to take advantage of her kit perfectly, but for most players, who's going to want to remember all these weird properties just to make a character function when the rest of the cast are more straightforward or have unique traits in their moves that are much easier to manage? They have unusual hitboxes and animations that don't look like they fit their buttons, like her F-tilt and F-Air. Give her gymnast traits, or even an Olympic athlete to flesh her out better. I think making Wii Fit Trainer moves exclusively Yoga poses hinders her potential a lot and with enough understanding of the World of Calisthenics, WFT should be incredibly fun and stylish to play, but instead is just way too unnecessarily awkward which is why she's cut in a lot of fan rosters.
Lucario in Smash is the most boring version of the character by a huge margin. Smash Bros Lucario feels nothing like the Lucario from the games and TV shows. Lucario is well loved because it's an easy to use combat focused attacker, making it a staple in many trainers' playthrough teams. In Smash however, he feels too much like Mewtwo-lite without the psychic power, and less like the Fighting/Steel type Pokemon fans love. Even Lucario's run animation feels janky and slow as it looks like it is it's walk animation just faster, when Lucario moves nothing like that in all of his official sources. Pokken, Z-A, Mystery Dungeon portrays better what people like of Lucario and the anime has much inspiration to go by in moveset. Maylene's Lucario, Ash's Lucario, Roy's Lucario, and the Lucario from Mystery of Mew have the best renditions for how Lucario would be.
I will say this, Robin's gimmick of weapon durability is great. It balances out the character well. That being said, I hate literally everything else about the character. I hate the run animation. Looks more like a generic school kid running late for the bus than a decorated army tactician. Why not just use their run sprite from their home game? I don't like how amateurish Robin's sword attacks look despite Robin being considered an above average swordsman in lore. I also don't like how Robin has the Tome and Sword on hand the entire time they're fighting. I think it would look so much better if they only popped out during the attack animations themselves. Aesthetically, I just think Robin looks more clunky and clumsy here and feels close to nothing like they did in Awakening, where Robin is considered one of the best and most fun to use in the game. Use more animations from Awakening or the Warriors series where Fire Emblem moves are more varied and fleshed out some more.

Tier List Tuesday I listed everytime, a Smash Character was hurt in the Reveal Trailers (excluding gameplay footage)
A few Notes:
Implications don't count (hence Mega Man, Shulk and Falcon aren't higher)
When the Character was shown hurt or lying on the ground, it does count
When a Character managed to catch a landing, it didn't count
Deaths weren't counted any different

Meme/Funny This take is absolutely insane to me
Like, third parties have been a mainstay of the series since Brawl. Why would we get rid of them when they're often the most highly anticipated characters?

Discussion I made a list about how many times each "Cameo" character appears per stage
The first one is just the cameos that appear in Ultimate. The second one also includes Melee's Adventude Mode, Brawl's Subspace Emissary, Sm4sh's Smash Run, and all of the stages that didn't make it into the game
The characters must appear or are at least implied to be on-screen, whether as a background cameo or as an actual stage hazard (not counting the bosses)
Here are the things that I won't be listing:
- The random cars from Onett and Moray Towers. Also Captain Falcon's Machine in the F-Zero stages
- The Crane and the Heli from Fourside
- The Pilots from Pilotwings
- The Great Fox, The Starwing and the Wolfen from the Starfox stages
- The Rainbow Cruiser from Rainbow Ride and Bowser's Ship from Mario Galaxy
- The Highwind from Northern Cavern
- The Sky Runner from Magicant
- The Halbert
- Literally any and every building that isn't see-through
Special nominations:
- The random people from Threed in the background of Magicant
- The Bear and Bunnies from the TV in Gamer

Other Is there any reason that, when flying into the background, Lugia is basically just Moltres on crack?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Making contact with Lugia kills 50% sooner than Moltres does and it's one of the most random "superpowered" hitboxes in the game. Sure it's MUCH harder to land a hit with Lugia's body because it's only there for a very short period of time but to me it doesn't make sense. Why it deals electrical damage is beyond me. Also if you are directly above him once he starts going into the background it's an instakill. I would think the lanch powers would be swapped between the 2 considering their intended functions. Not sure if there's a reason behind this or not or if it's just Smash Bros. being weird as usual.
All I know about their cannon is that Lugia is the more powerful of the 2 and that you can touch Lugia and not get hurt where as (correct me if I'm wrong) touching Moltres at all would basically just cause you to combust and die on the spot since his whole body is perpetually on fire.

Help/Question How Many Other Women Actually Play This Game?
This question sort of just popped into my head recently. Aside from myself, we have 3 other women that actually compete semi-regularly at our local. That's like... maybe 15% of our scene, the rest being made up of men (or our 2 nonbinary competitors). When I traveled to a different local scene, I think out of like 30 people I was the only girl there. It's to the point where I'm pretty sure the average smash online player just assumes they're playing against men, including me.
So... is this normal? How many women actually like smashing their bros? /j

Discussion So my main is young link, and my best friend (RIP) found his being sheik.
We were really good together, it took him a while to find his main we did a bunch of random selection until he found his and it wound up being sheik. He was a badass with it. We did some online before he passed and some people rage quit during some matches. He did do a lot of defense and just chipping away at the people. And I would do ranged and then I would swoop in for the defeat or vice/versa depending on the match
He was an amazing assist and if we had to switch roles we could do that instantly.
So I guess we were doing it right? We were very aggressive attackers.
I still play young link.

Help/Question Anyone know any durable pro controller brands?
I’ve gone through quite a few pro controllers, and they just never seem durable. 6 out of the 7 (poor joke not intended) of them had issues before ever being dropped or slammed. Crazy stick drift that makes me whiff and lose sets, SnapBack that makes me somehow RAR nair instead of doing a basic combo, and even for one controller random minutes where the c stick just didn’t work for a bit. Most have been the normal $25/60 PowerA switch controllers. Are any pro controllers reliable?

It just replaces her regular bair, no changes to her air mobility or other frame data.

Help/Question Weird question for Young Link players
I’ve been playing a lot of Young Link at tournaments because Down Air is hilarious to me, but I never know what to do in one specific situation. Somewhat frequently, especially on PS2, I’ll hit the first part of my forward air on an opponent as they land or jump on one of the plats. I’m fast falling. I land below the plat. What now? Unless it’s at like 150, nothing I do ever seems to combo. What’s the route from here?

Help/Question Matchup
Hi, I’ve been playing *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate* competitively for about a year with some friends. They tease me, saying I ought to win every match when playing as Lucas against Cloud or Sephiroth.
Do you think that’s true, or are they just saying it because they lose?

Tips/tricks Bowser Jr. Mechakoopa tips
Hi :) I thought it might be useful for beginners to using or facing Bowser Jr. may want to know about his Mechakoopa. It’s not much but a few things I can say is:
Mechakoopa latches onto opponents before exploding, allowing Bowser Jr. to do stuff like f-air, Mechakoopa latch, f-tilt, Mechakoopa explosion
It does very little shield damage, it’ll tap a shield then fall over and can be picked up to use as an item. Sometimes I’ll pair it with cannonball and kart dash to see if I can get high shield damage or catch someone doing a poor roll or jumping. This is just to say sometimes Mechakoopa is just an attempt to pressure a choice or to stay in shield
It almost always will send the person hit with it in the direction it was facing or moving in, it makes it easy for bowser jr to follow up with almost any attack given the percent the opponent is at
The latching gets sometimes extended during Jr’s throws so he can make his f-throw and b-throw kill a fair amount sooner or just do a lot of damage
The Mechakoopa’s cycle is that it will tumble out of the clown kart, walk around a stage length, freeze and turn red and then explode after a bit of a hiss noise plays. If Jr jumps and deploys Mechakoopa then it will bounce go further and when it meets the end of a platform it will turn around
Mechakoopa is active during its bounce so it can get offstage people
Jr. can pick up the Mechakoopa and is immune to its explosion if he throws it, otherwise he can be hurt by it too (when holding it or when it explodes after being too long)
It’s timer is reset after its first time being picked up
Jr. can only have one out at a time
It has a high chance of being dropped when the holder is hit, making it kind of like a grenade but sometimes I’ve had it even start walking again
While rare, Jr. can use it to extend his recovery if he was already holding it when he blasted offstage
Since it acts independently, Jr can just try and keep it always active to get short combos, hope it hits you if you’re wailing on him, or hope it hits himself if he realizes he’s in a bad spot. Of course you can punish when he is hit but if you’re not paying attention then I can say I’ve used it to get out of bad cases at ledge or I’m stuck jabbing someone’s shield
He can drop it during his Kart Dash jump to get more combos or make you stay in shield while he gets away
Depending on direction and timing and the attack, Mechakoopa will either reduce the direction an opponent was sent by the prior attack, sent even further, or sent the opposite direction
Please remember he can throw Mechakoopa too, it means he can hit you really far offstage or high into the air
I hope this was kind of useful, have a great day 😁

Help/Question HOW DO YOU GET DIFFERENT FLAIR?!
I recently picked up robin and even though I kinda hate playing him, I can beat my friend (who is a little mac user of about 300 hours). I used to play Rob, but I could barely take 1 stock, let alone 2. I realized I was more partial to trappers and zoners, so after looking around for a while, I stumbled on a video of leaf (#1 robin player). I decided to try robin and have been doing pretty good ever since. So, can someone tell me how to get Robin flair, pwease? Uwu
