News Rules update and moderation

Hi everyone, a few updates on moderation.

The rules have been updated so please take a look.

We are asking that you please:

  • use post flair. Please recommend any you think would be helpful and we can discuss

  • include the ingredients list or a quick photo with your posts so that its readily available for the mods and users. This will help with modding post quicker.

If you forget we’ll ask for it but please be mindful of it as this is a new rule we think will be helpful to both mods and sub members.

Also, a relaxation of the rules:

  • artificial sweeteners are still not allowed and will be labeled as soda/artificially sweetened only if the discourse is helpful/insightful. If it’s intentional posting of diet drinks then the posts will be removed.

  • naturally sweetened drinks will be allowed so long as their calories are <30 cals (low calorie compared to major diet drinks) and must be flaired as “naturally sweetened”. This includes: sugar, natural fruit sugar, agave, stevia, etc.

  • salt content will be moderated by allowing the total salt content to be “low sodium” content (<140 mg per FDA guidelines). This may be changed to lower values later but to be more inclusive, we thought this to be ok for the time being. This is only the case for added salt drinks and not naturally occurring salt drinks e.g. spring sparkling water sources.

  • we will be opting for leaving posts up that are not sparkling water for educational purposes if the discussion looks useful/insightful and OP isn’t just disregarding commentary. Comments will be locked or kept opened bases on this too.

Thoughts appreciated if you have them.

Review I thought this was a new flavor at Wegmans, but I see people have posted about it before. Better late than never!

Very much tastes like biting into a green apple, maybe a little stronger like a jolly rancher

Review Revising my original review of Kroger Dr. and Cola flavors

Last week or the week before I got the new Kroger cola flavored sparkling water and dr. Flavored sparkling water.

I tried them and posted I was overall disappointed in the flavors but that I would also drink a few more and report back.

Well, after drinking multiple cans of each I need to revise my assessment:

Cola - originally this one was just bad to me. After a few cans I’ll revise from bad to not bad. Not great but not bad. I don’t think I’ll be buying again but I’d recommend others give it a chance.

dr. Flavor - I was also originally disappointed in this one as well but I have to say after drinking nearly the entire 12 pack I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. I’ll definitely get again.

Overall, still searching for a good cola flavor but happy with the dr. K!

Note: root beer is the devils brew and is not allowed in my house (joking, I just don’t like root beer so didn’t get it).

Question Can anyone suggest a sparkling water that actually has flavor?

Upvotes

I’ve been trying various seltzer brands (Spindrift, Polar) and so far, there has been only the slightest hint of flavor. Do any exist that have actual flavor?

Question What’s your highest carbonation recommendation?

In the market for new seltzer, what’s the highest carbonated (/bubbliest?) legally available?

Love the la croix flavors but as of this moment POLAR has been my favorite because of the bubbles.

Thank you for your help

Question Drinking Sparkling Water While Invisalign?

I'm getting Invisalign later this month. My orthodontist said sugar free non-dyed sparkling water like LaCroix should be fine to drink with trays in, but reading on-line I see mixed reports. Have any sparkling water aficionados had experience here?

Discussion What is going with HEB sparkling water these days… flavor is off

Did they change the formula for their sparkling water? I’ve been getting their grapefruit sparkling water for years and it tastes like medicine now. I got a box yesterday and it tasted weird. I thought it could be just that box. Went to a different heb and got another box and same problem. I’ll have to switch brand:(

Question Looking for a replacement for Clear American!

I'm trying to post this again because, for some reason, my whole paragraph got deleted?

Im looking for a replacement for Clear American. I've drank it for years, and I know for a fact that the recipe has changed. The label is still the same, but I can tell something is different. My go-to flavor is strawberry, but I also like peach. I really need a replacement as I considered this drink "safe", I deal with exterme nausea, and this was one of few drinks I could handle. Any alternatives will be greatly appreciated!

Discussion I made a new sparkling water database that I'd love for people to try out.

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker here for a while and a long time lover of sparkling water. I love to try new things so naturally that extends to sparkling waters. I'm also an engineer, and if you know an engineer you know we love spreadsheets and lists. I used to keep a spreadsheet of all the sparkling waters I've tried, because there are so many and it can get hard to remember which ones you've tried. I found it difficult to keep my spreadsheet updated with all the flavors I was trying because I was trying so many. I also like perfumes and fragrances so I recently had the idea to make a website like fragrantica, but for sparkling waters.

The goal of the website is to be able keep track of the flavors you've tried and help you discover new flavors.

Here's the website

Let me know what you guys think.

Opinion Why does Waterloo discontinue the best flavors?

Thumbnail

This was hands down the best sparkling water I have ever had. It tastes like root beer and has no sugar or calories.

They discontinued my previous favorite, Watermelon, which tasted SO good, unlike other watermelon flavors I have had.

I don’t even know what to drink now. I’m at a loss. But wasn’t this really popular? I saw so many people raving about how full bodied it tasted, it was honestly perfect. WHY WATERLOO?!?
