Stepping in poop
Hey, my new little guy has his own box away from our other cats. He goes to the box fine but seems to step in his poop at least once a day afterwards. Is this common sphynx behavior or something he will grow out of? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Please tell me this is a phase 😭😭1 year old Sphynx constantly biting and attacking
I have a 1 year old neutered male Sphynx called Kenzo. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He’s honestly a really sweet, social and affectionate cat, but this problem has been going on since he was a baby.
He scratches, attacks and bites way too much. I’ve had kittens before so I know this can be normal kitten behaviour, but with Kenzo it feels way beyond that. He climbs my curtains, scratches all my furniture and rips my wallpaper. I’m honestly not bothered about the house getting ruined, it’s mainly my daughter’s safety that I’m worried about.
My daughter is almost 3 and Kenzo will attack her, scratch and bite her badly enough to break the skin. Even if she’s just sitting on the sofa watching TV and completely ignoring him, he’ll sometimes run over, bite or scratch her and then run off.
He does attack me and my husband too, but obviously we’re adults and can defend ourselves or move away when he attacks. My daughter can’t do that, which is why it’s becoming such a serious problem.
I feel like I can’t look away for even a second because she’s at risk of getting hurt. Obviously I don’t want to rehome him, I absolutely love him and really want this to work.
He gets plenty of stimulation. He has lots of different toys, a cat climbing frame, scratching posts and plenty of affection from both me and my husband. He’s also been to the vets and has been checked over and is completely healthy.
I do try to redirect him when he starts getting too rough, and I’ve also tried putting him in time-out when he attacks and hissing at him to tell him no. But nothing seems to be making a difference.
I thought neutering might calm him down, but if anything he seems to be getting worse.
I’m really looking for genuine advice because I desperately want to keep him, but if this continues I unfortunately don’t think I’ll be able to because I have to put my daughter’s safety first.
Is this something he could grow out of? Has anyone had a Sphynx or another cat behave like this and managed to improve it?
Any advice is appreciated, please tell me there's hope 😭

Folks, is it weird to make yarn out of your husky to clothe your sphynx?
It was a joke, but I decided to commit to the bit. Yarn spun by Provenance Yarns and Textiles in Ontario, with lamb added to give it more length as my husky has pretty short fur.
Is it stupid? Yes. Am I tickled by it? Also yes.
Finally bought a double tilt trash can...
After years of trying to get people to lock the cans with the straps we have due to the little gremlin inserting themselves in there for trash, I finally bought a double tilt to eliminate the problem. Now just to build it....

Rabies vaccine- education question/debate
This morning is Hades’ yearly vax and check in. My bf was showing me some research that says indoor cats probably don’t need the rabies vax every year. Most are ok between 3-5 yrs especially if they don’t go out. He’s actually thinking we can go without it since Hades never goes outside.
I was trying to explain that since the apt is made and confirm we’ll get this done and we can do research together and he made me feel like taking the car in for “a jab” was unnecessary stress.
I pleased and try to explain Sphynx need check ups not just for rabies, but even if we agreed on no vax for it, I’d still take him in for yearly check for his eyes, teeth, breathing, etc.
he insists it’s stressful and unnecessary, in his defense, we do have to gabapentin the cat every time we go to the vet, but I have mixed feelings. I don’t want to cause unnecessary harm but I don’t want to neglect something I may not be able to spot at home without yearly check ups.
Any advice or educated arguments other than “it’s the right thing to do for your cat’s health” cause he seems to think somehow his 2 weeks of research trumps my 4 years of having said cat AND 2 previous years of researching Sphynx before even getting one.
Thanks in advance and I’m just looking for some guidance on comfort, heath and mostly balance.
Edit: Visit done. Vax taken. Thank you for your input, experiences and knowledge. We’re going to talk about it but I am going to continue to do regulars and rabies vax regardless. We do live in a wooded area full of critters and that’s always been one of my reasons why I think we should.
Anyways :) thanks again ✌🏻

Is this a normal breathing rate for my 5 month old kitten?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
She seemed a bit sluggish today and was sneezed. Also sounds like she has a stuffy nose? Is this a normal rate of breathing? It’s 3am so wondering if I should take her to the emergency vet or wait until her vet opens at 8 or if it is normal.
*Update: Got back from the vet. Breathing slowed down back to normal. Everything checked out fine according to them. They said to monitor her over the next week incase it is the beginning of a respiratory infection. If she starts breathing through mouth or stops eating to come back in. Also, I am moving so they said the packing could have stirred up dust.

Diarrhée et éruptions cutanées chez le Sphynx
Bonjour !

Why is my Sphynx evil incarnate
Before getting this cat I researched them extensively. From my understanding these cats may be high energy but they are generally social and affectionate. I purchased him with the intention of having an emotional support animal. Now I understand that cats aren’t the same as dogs and knew going in that it may not turn out that way but this is different. He isn’t just not an emotional support animal, he is straight up evil and causes me regular emotional distress.
This cat is living in essentially a cat mega mansion. I have a 4 bedroom house. He has access to 6 cat trees, 4 litter boxes, 3 filtered fountains, a wheel to run on, endless beds, an endless supply of toys and play opportunities, scratching posts, heated beds, LITERALLY EVERYTHING A CAT COULD EVER ASK FOR….and he’s still straight up evil. I have had him since a baby. He was delightful as a kitten, sweet, loving cuddly. Everything I wanted and as he matured he just turned malicious. He never scratches or bites me bc he knows I’m not gonna play that but the second I even touch him it’s growling and hissing. He is insanely aggressive over food. He relentlessly stalks and attacks my other cats. Like corners them and chases them and just relentlessly beats on them. I have to keep them separated because he stresses my other male with urinary issues out to the point he has flare ups and gets sick. He destroys furniture and pees down the vents in the home (he does not have urinary issues). When he’s cold in the winter, he likes to go up my shirts and sweaters to get warmth which is fine when i’m not busy. When I refuse to let him up, he gets violent with me….even though he has a million blankets and a heated bed. The only way I’ve been able to manage his behavior is by clothing him and it’s not “calming him down” I can tell he just feels so restricted and uncomfortable that he doesn’t feel free to move as normal, so when the clothes come off…he’s even more of a terrorist. I feel bad clothing him because it’s clearly a stressor but I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do at this point. He is just unbearable to deal with.
Pic of the evil f*cker is for tax. His name is Mushu and YES HE IS NEUTERED.
I’m melting mother 🫠

Swollen raw tale?
After already visiting the vet three times - they stabbed Bambi’s tale with a little needle and sent it off for testing - everything came back fine and they said it was just an infected injury. They gave us anti-inflammatory and well it got better until it got worse. At this point I don’t even know what to do. Every time we go to the vets they stab it and now it’s beyond a cyst. I have an appointment at a different vets. Has anyone dealt with this before? We are also putting disinfectant the vets gave us. Every time we put it on he cries! It’s horrible. Edit: I’m pretty sure the vet stabbing the cyst and sending it off to the lab made whatever this is happen - on the sides of his tale it looks like a fried raw steak.. thanks again for any advice :( another edit as u forgot to mention that it has been leaking on the raw side previously - like clear water.

Failed sweater attempt turned success!
Not that she needed it right now as it’s 100 here today, but we have a wearable! Knitted a sweater for my girl using a 30 peg loom and some super soft bernat yarn (both found in the clearance section!)
Also small congrats on her accomplishment in her weight management, she’s only 1lb away from our goal!

Pet clothes for kittens
Curious where you all sourced your kitten clothing. Sizing is my biggest concern and I don’t want safety to be an issue because she’s so small. Currently just around 12 weeks and the size of a healthy grapefruit. 🍊
Open to all tips and tricks, too! I’m aware she’s just over the doll clothes size 🥹

Trying to Help My Cats Lose Weight, but They Seem Miserable
I have four cats and stopped free feeding them in January because three of them are overweight to varying degrees. It’s been a struggle, and I’m not sure it’s making much difference with their weight. They mostly just sleep between meals now and seem more sedentary.
For the past two weeks, all four have also suddenly become ridiculously hungry. They start asking for food again about an hour after eating. The only recent change is that I’ve started letting them onto my deck, but they aren’t very active out there. They mostly walk around and watch the birds. I’ve checked their poop for signs of worms and haven’t seen anything.
Two of my cats are slightly overweight, one is overweight, and my youngest is a perfect weight and regulates her food really well. If she were my only cat, I would probably free-feed her. The three overweight cats get around 60–70g of kibble each per day and wet food. On my vet’s recommendation, I’ve also switched the most overweight cat to a special weight-management food. She has lost 0.7 pounds in the last month, which is decent. I know weight reduction needs to be gradual.
For hydration, I have 12 water stations throughout the house, and I also add water to their wet food to make sure they’re getting enough fluids.
I’m getting frustrated with the constant begging, but I’m also worried that I’m genuinely not feeding them enough. Has anyone dealt with this? Any advice on feeding schedules, helping them feel fuller, or other tricks would be really appreciated.
To be honest, they seemed much more active and happier when they were free fed.
And please, no judgment. I’m asking because I want to do what’s best for them. I’ve gotten comments before like “if you want them to die, keep free-feeding them,” and that really isn’t helpful.

Sphynx kitten weight loss
Hello! I’m at a total lost on what to do.
I brought home my boy Sphynx kitten last week and he has dropped a bunch of weight since living with me…his ribs, hips and spine are all really visible and it’s making me sick with how skinny he is. I already took him to a vet and they did blood tests and a fecal sample and everything came back completely normal. He is eating and drinking perfectly fine and I even tried changing his food and that still doesn’t help. He also lost any drive to play!
His poop is straight liquid and he started throwing up after eating..I’m at a total lost on what to do and I’m willing to take any extreme advice..it also is worth mentioning I had my boys half sister and she passed away suddenly overnight at only 6 months old. The only reason I got this boy was because it was the breeder trying to “make it right.” He is a total lover and he gets along great with my other Sphynx kitten (she is a month older than him).
I apologize if this is hard to follow I’m writing this late at night! Thank you in advance for any advice given🫶

I lost my Walter to HCM at only 3.5 years old ❤️
I lost my Walter two days ago, and since then I’ve been reading other people’s stories about HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), trying somehow to calm my mind and my heart.
He was only 3 and a half years old.
We adopted him when he was one. His previous owners couldn’t keep him, so he came to live with us and his Sphynx sister, who is the same age as him.
Then we found out that Walter had HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)
From that moment on, we did everything we could. He had check-ups every three months, sometimes even more often, and was very closely monitored. Even when he looked completely fine on the outside, unfortunately the disease was still progressing inside him.
I can’t cope with this pain. I can’t cope with him not being here anymore. I miss him so much. We all do. His sister keeps smelling and searching all the places where he used to be, as if she is trying to find him. And I still wake up hoping somehow that he will come back.
Everything happened so fast.
He was heavily medicated and we were constantly monitoring him. These last few weeks he had given us a few scares, but I still had so much hope that we would have more time with him.
He was taking six pills every day, always at the right times. But he was eating, drinking, and always wanted to be close to us. Despite everything that was happening inside his little heart, he was still Walter. He was still happy. He still wanted to be here.
And then Saturday happened.
I came home and he was so happy to see me. He came to greet me, almost as if he had been waiting for me to come home. We gave him his last pill and his little treat afterwards, just like we always did.
Seconds later, he fell onto his side and had an attack.
He died in our arms.
I still can’t believe I’m writing those words.
We rushed him to the vet, but there was already no life left in him.
It isn’t fair. It just isn’t fair. Not for him.
I never wanted him to suffer, and I knew how serious his disease was. But he was still happy. You could see it. Despite everything his body was going through, he still had that desire to live. I truly believed we had more time.
Fuck HCM.
Why does this disease even exist? Why is there still no cure?
I would have given anything for more time with him.
I’m sorry for writing so much. I just needed somewhere to let this out and to share Walter’s story with people who might understand what this feels like.
He was only 3 and a half years old. He deserved so much more time.
I miss him more than I can put into words. ❤️
