Friendly reminder: no spider ID requests
r/spiderbro is a place to celebrate the companionship between spiders and people. Frequent identification requests undermine this core purpose by turning r/spiderbro into a utility that other subs are better suited for ( r/spiders , r/whatsthisbug , r/bugidentification )

She’s gotten bigger over the last few weeks! She is usually in my backyard but last night found out my driveway was a better hunting ground.

Spider appreciation Spotted Orb-Weaver [Neoscona Crucifera]
My wife and I have noticed through the window of our living room this orb-weaver building her web in front of our porchlight every night. Has provided a great vantage point to watch it work up close. Took the trash out last night and got an even closer look at it coming back inside so I snapped a picture. I was surprised at how close I was able to get and how good the photo came out. We get a ton of them around here (deep South) this time of year.

Spider appreciation I have a guard widow outside my front door...these are her babies
Kinda crazy how they all leave the "nest" at once. The webbing now covers over 5 feet, and I can't get out, but

Spider appreciation big bro who surprised me when i opened my door
My camera makes them look a lot smaller than in real life. this is about as big as we get them around here! Second time today one this big has just appeared next to me. Both caught and released outside to protect them from my family and dog.

Encounter on morning walk.
This was cool. Didn't get it on video but it jumped on my hand briefly a couple times and bounced back to the post. It was like a little cat pouncing. Made me laugh.

Spider appreciation Spider buddy
I looked down at my table and it was looking right at me... Please don't jump on me little buddy... My heart can't take it. I know it is some sort of tiny jumper spider from Vancouver island BC, Canada.

Early morning walk with the pup, and I see this fella (lady?) crawling down the wall. Super cool surprise since I hadn't seen one in years.

Spider appreciation Found this little jumping bro on my work van so I moved him to safety; wish I could have kept him! 🥺
I used to have a huge phobia of insects and spiders. After experiencing a lot of trauma and having a very rough several years, I’ve completely lost my fear of them and instead find them endearing and adorable. I also used to think people who liked/“liked” insects and spiders were attention-seeking or weirdos, but I’ve come to realize they’re often just highly empathetic people who have an appreciation for all walks of life. My perspective toward insects and spiders has completely shifted into one of appreciation, respect, curiosity, and compassion. ❤️🕷️🪲🐜🐛

Found this cutie at the park today. I grew up with these yellow garden spiders and thought they were banana spiders (and the scariest thing ever😅) until only recently. Both are beautiful

Spider appreciation Wanted to share the beautiful false widow I got to see
I was going through my photos and found this one from just over a year ago of a false widow I found in the garage of a house I was staying in and I just had to share her. She was a little startled because the garage door had just been opened and it shook the whole wall but that gave me my only chance in 9 months to get to see her (she usually hid away in a crack in the wall) so I sat down and just watched her for a while before leaving her alone to eat our bugs. I did see her abdomen and confirmed she was a false widow but sadly wasn't able to get any clear pictures of that.
Edit: Woops, turns out I was completely off with my ID and she was actually an Arizona Black Hole Spider! Either way, I'm so glad I got the chance to hang out with her.
Found in Northern Arizona

All my spider does now is lay eggs and eat them
My jumping spider has just been laying eggs, webbing up her little area, and then eating the eggs a day or 2 later. How can I stop this, is she okay or should I be worried??
