Weren't the 'drugs' she was on her prescribed medications, prescribed by actual doctors and medical health professionals, to deal with the PPD she was experiencing?
And he didn't just leave the house on a whim - he left, after she asked him to, in order to bring back food for the family and her medications.
It sounds like Sean is suggesting the death penalty for any man who doesn't immediately have his wife irrevocably committed to a mental health institution the first instant she experiences PPD. I don't think that sets up a particularly good set of incentives for anyone.
Wasn't she described as an 'incredible mother' by her friends and family?
I believe its that the meds she was on were prescribed by people who didnt know her full medical history/what had been prescribed to her in the past so she was basically given a cocktail of meds.
Presumably she was in a better place when he left because theres no way he would be leaving her alone if she was actively having an episode
To me its more that hes suggesting that the husband knew the risk and ignored it just to get out of the situation. However from what Ive seen reported anyone whose heard his 911 call would not believe he didnt care about the kids
Does it really matter? people can only report what they perceive and what they think the nice thing to say is. Plus the perception of a 3rd party is almost completely irrelevant to determine the quality of a parent, the children are typically the ones who get to determine that and we know she was one of the worst mothers of all time since she killed all of her kids. You cant be an incredible mother and then strangle all your kids
Honestly Strickland is much more refreshing than any other person in the Man o sphere. Rough around the edge. Yup. Says something’s I don’t agree with. But honestly somebody that in the ufc that isn’t brown nosing trump gets my respect
Im solidly left wing democrat but i like listening to strickland too. At the end of the day hes authentic. Hes not grifting, he doesnt care for followers, hes not intentionally being edgy for views, hes just being is normal outspoken dumbass self and i like it.
As a man/father it is very intimidating and difficult to intervene and push the mother out. The Justice system seems to be heavily in favor of the woman. It’s hard to accuse a woman of abusing her children without looking like a gaslighter/ narcissistic abuser.
The mother openly stated she has had multiple thoughts of killing the children and shared that with her husband/ family.
I would NOT leave her alone with kids after that statement. Prescribed medication or not. Even if she was labeled "Mother of the Centry" by her close friends.
If that’s true that she expressed thoughts of killing her children on multiple occasions then she should even have supervised time with her children. She’s either a risk to her children’s lives or she isn’t.
I once had an experience with a close family member with a history of mental illness that said she was having thoughts of harming her newborn child. When I went to her home the police were called because I said I wasn’t comfortable leaving her alone with the child in the state. When the police arrived they told me if I didn’t leave they would have me for trespassing and that the thoughts the mother was verbalizing were “normal.”
Being the husband is different for sure but I don’t know how much more he could have done in the situation
He wasn’t dealing with a wife with PPP, because nobody diagnosed her or claimed that she had it prior to her killing the kids and the defense using it as their argument for an insanity defense.
the PPP defense is insane to me because the youngest child was 8 months old, thats too long to seriously believe post partum was still the driving factor, if it was even a factor at all
Yeah, it’s strange to me that people are claiming PPP when psychosis not associated with giving birth seems like a lower bar to pass in proving the claim. I think it’s due to the moral associations they’re all making. The political utility of associating this case with postpartum care and alleged women’s issues is very alluring whether or not the evidence actually fits that.
I think its all the cocktail of meds she was on but I dont think the crowd defending her wants to have an honest conversation about how meds fuck up peoples brains and often make their situations worse.
It just seems like her case is a combo of many underlying issues and people are projecting them onto someone that doesnt really deserve it. As far as Im concerned the only question should be was she mentally there when doing it and that question should only matter if she is put in prison for life or given the death penalty. I dont think it should even be a question that shes removed from society forever
She was never diagnosed as being psychotic. Despite her extensive treatment by multiple specialists. Because she wasn’t psychotic. She was depressed and suicidal.
Obviously not as simple as Sean makes it seem. I don’t have any info on the Dad’s behavior prior, but it’s not like he can be at her side every minute of every day and provide for the family. Also, been a lot of cases where the spouse leaves the relationship and other spouse murders the kids. Mental health is no joke and this is a sad situation all the way around.
Is there a specific time period that is acceptable for the father to move on after he loses his whole family? I mean I’m no grief counselor but I can assume that its either try and move on or take to the bottle.
This isn’t actually true, if you bother to look at any statistics. It’s just something men say online, while maybe throwing in some anecdotal stories.
Men who actually seek custody, get it most of the time. Men are also more likely to gain custody after accusing the mom of abuse, whereas the opposite is true for women.
lol what makes Strickland a nazi?? Honestly he’s pretty refreshing as far as guys in the man o sphere go. The worst thing I’ve seen him say are some homophobic slurs…. don’t love that but that doesn’t = nazi.
Also I’m pretty left leaning and love calling trump and his cronies nazis so I am not one of those people that has been calling for everyone to start calling them nazis.
lol I did that research and even took it a step further but you should have cut out the last two lines if you really wanted to prove your point…
You can’t pick your family and I will not shame any child that latches on to shitty ideologies as a child. More respect for being taught that by family and then realizing it was bs….
Sean’s right this lady is guilty of first degree murder. The husband is a POS who is guilty of negligence. The number of women lined up to support this child killer is no shock tho. It’s funny how 100 years ago yall got the right to vote and the biggest issue politically that you aligned with is your apartment right to kill your unborn children. So it’s no surprise the easily manipulated female vote would show up to support a baby killer.
This whole trial is about which color jumper she wears for the rest of her life. Just more distraction from Epstein, a failing economy, and losing yet another boondoggle war in the middle east
Not true at all. She will only remain institutionalized until she is deemed no longer a threat to the public, which given her unique claim of post partum psychosis (and the fact she was only ever a threat to her kids who are dead) could mean she’s released as soon as 40 days from verdict
Andrea Yates has not seeked release from psychiatric care. She thinks she belongs there. Also Massachusetts is very different than Texas. It has one of the most generous set of laws regarding mental capacity defenses
She’s literally arguing temporary insanity because of the drugs. She’s no longer on the drugs. Therefore, if found temporary insanity is accepted, she’ll be out real fast
Don't be a smart ass you know its just depending whether she is incarcerated in a mental asylum or a prison for life and its getting super coverage while a slew of other issues go on without any real attention.
It is in a nutshell. They have to prove she had the capacity to understand right and wrong to put her in prison; based on the prep and sending the husband out and asking for a lawyer, she has that capacity
I mean you’re phrasing it disingenuously. They have to go in front of the court and be approved in addition to a supporting psych eval.
And all of this is under the presupposition that she will be found NGRI; she won’t based on her actions to hide the murder. It proves she was in enough of a state of mind to understand her actions and consequences.
My understanding (I could be mistaken) is she was getting treatment for her mental health issues. She was had inpatient care, was prescribed multiple medications and continued with outpatient care. She denied having the urge to hurt herself or others.
So she denied having homicidal thoughts and she was getting treatment. WTF is the father supposed to do? Leave and try to take the children with him? Family courts consistently favor the mother and she was in active treatment with no homicidal ideations, so there's a ZERO percent change a judge would deny her custody, even if it's partial custody. How do you think the separation and custody battle would affect her mental health?
The case? She saw multiple psychiatric providers and she was admitted the hospital at the beginning of January and stayed for multiple days. She left feeling better and her mood seemed better. near the end of January She asked her husband to get takeout, so he left the house, picked up medication and food (took less than an hour) came back home and the kids were dead.
you’re leaving out important details. she was also discharged early and denied care when she sought help. she told family members about thoughts of harming the children. poor coordination among her medical team was documented as well. this is all in evidence.
Multiple things can be true at once. Yes, she is horrible for murdering her kids. Yes, her husband knew she was struggling heavily and should have intervened more by, for example, not leaving her alone with them.
Postpartum psychosis is real, and absolutely horrifying.
Dude what? How? The doctors never told him not to leave her at home alone with the kids. He was running an errand that SHE asked him to run. How is her strangling her three kids his fault at all?
This is the absolute worst take. She lied to him and was pretending to have one of her best days to get him to leave. For 40 minutes.
If someone isn’t able to leave their spouse alone for 40 minutes without risk of their entire family being killed, the spouse has absolutely no reason living in public society to begin with.
There really is a two tier system. I've been banned from Elon Musk's website for stuff way less than promoting violence like this but these MAGA guys get away with it openly

If the wife shows up at the grandparents and says 'I'm taking my kids' they cannot stop her. You would have to immediately completely remove all custody rights from the mother.
Is that what we are suggesting for all mothers suffering from PPD (which is already a painful thing to endure, and already stigmatized?)
Define 'didn't even try'.
Didn't he get his wife professional help? Didn't he ensure she got medications (he was getting medicine for her when she murdered the kids). Didn't he hire a nanny?
That all sounds like trying to me.
Or are you asserting the husband bears full accountability for the wife's actions, and that if the wife succeeds in murdering the children that is ipso facto proof the husband didn't try hard enough?
Again, taking the kids to stay with their grandkids is not the insane proposition you make it out to be.
And, no. The wife having all of the responsibility in a legal or philosophical sense doesn’t bring the kids back. Being a little proactive and more concerned would’ve kept them alive, so yeah I think he’s a weak man who didn’t protect his kids.
She’s their mother. She’s seen doctors. Doctors didn’t intervene. Why would he think their mom would kill them? No one would think that. Hindsight is always 20/20
The only fact that matters here is that she told him she was having ideations of harming the kids. That’s established.
If he knows that, he should have been more proactive about protecting the kids. It’s a lame excuse to say anything else. Not leaving them alone with her is such a low low bar.
As a parent he had a duty to protect the kids and not leave them in a situation that endangered their lives.
How’s that a fact? Cause the murdered said so? The person trying not to get the death penalty or die in prison? We’re taking their word for it? I’m not.
Maybe take steps to get them away for their crazy mother....or just sut there and watch it happen. But hey Dads got a new GF and no burdens so good for him right?
Stop pretending like the courts wouldn't have given her full custody. She was trying to get away from her, likely because she was insane.
She murdered her children in cold blood. Trying to pass this off as somehow anyone's fault but her or her brain is really illuminating about yourself and your feelings.
I have children. It's my job to protect them from threats, even their mother if it came to that. If you don't care about your kids that's fine but I care about mine.
