Yeah Surya Bonaly in 98, first skater to land a backflip on one skate. Am I missing something? That wasn't 50 years ago.

Terry Kubicka did it legally 50 years ago. Surya Bonaly did it intentionally because she had an injury or messed up and knew she wasn't going to win a medal so ended it with that move.

It had nothing to do with injury or messing up. She was doing flips. They said it was illegal because it couldn’t be landed on one foot, so she did it and landed it on one foot.

Surya Bonaly was the first figure skater to land a backflip on one blade. She performed it at the 1998 winter olympics in Japan.
